trying to text msg someone in America
and it doesnt work! They didnt get the message I sent, and I didnt get the message they sent. Do you need to do anything to set your phone up, I always thought it should just work - Im on the O2 network, and she's on Sprint.
I gave my number as 44 7834 xxxxxx - is that all you need to dial, 44 for the UK and then the code? Her no started 1 818 - I think 1 is the code for USA and 818 is the code? If its possible, maybe could someone just send me a test text message to see if the problem is my phone or what Im doing - or with her? She said that she didnt think her phone is international - but I didnt think you had to do anything to make a phone international... of course it could be the old "fake number" trick, but Im not ready to admit that to myself without some objective testing first!!!! If that would be cool, if you PM I'll give you my whole no - as long as thats allowed and there isnt any rule about giving out my number on this board?

If you have access to the web you can send her a message from the Sprint site via this link:
http://messaging.sprintpcs.com/textmessaging/compose Other carriers have similar capabilities in their web sites. I'm not sure about the capabilities of international text message from your two phones and the two networks. It might be worth a call to your carrier to determine whether this will work.

I've tried SMSing my parents back in the States.. the messages never get denied.. but my parents never get them. I can SMS people in the UK without issues (and they can SMS me back).. it's just the US.
(I had to put a + in front for the UK.. so +44whatever). |
