Quotation of the Day - 24 December 2004 (this is a long one)
In September 1897, Dr. Philip O'Hanlon, a poor Irish immigrant in New York, came home to find his young daughter Virigiania in tears. Alarmed he asked her why she was crying. His daughter explained that some of her mean friends had told her that Santa didn't really exist.
In the past, the O'Hanlon family had written to the "Question and Answer" column in The New York Sun to settle matters of fact. "Write a letter," he told her, to the New York Sun. If you see it in the Sun, it's so." So little Viriginia wrote the following to the Sun. Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, "If you see it in The Sun, it's so." Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus? Virginia O'Hanlon The very next day, 21st of September 1897, the following reply appears in the New York Sun Quote:
Merry Christmas everyone. And happy holidays to our non-Christian friends. May you have a happy, peaceful and loving holiday. Life is fleeting and precious. Enjoy it. Protect it. Celebrate it. Revel in it. Mr Mephisto |

Haha, i remember that one. My ex's name was Virginia, and a bunch people used to say "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus." to her every christmas. She used to get so pissed when people said that, and then i had to put up with her...
