So, which famous people have you met?
In the sports forum, troit started a thread called: So what professional athlete do you know? and well this is just copying him. (i hope he doesnt mind). there probably has been a thread like this. so just delete it if you must.
Anyways, have you met any famous people? were they nice or mean? do you personally know one? it can be anybody famous, a politician an actor a musician a newscaster, etc. Me, i've met some musicians at concerts. nobody really huge. So, how about you? |
I work at MTV and the wife worked in the MTV Studio. I also grew up and lived near the studios in Hollywood... too many to list... read my journal for the latest bump with fame.
|
yes, I wrote for several international art journals for a decade. I have a lot of friends who are "famous artists" who I still collaborate with. Some are dead now. They are real people - which is a lot more interesting than fame. We have a fame illness in this society. It makes us blithering fools. "Famous people" are often miserable precisely because of their fame.
I think it's gauche to just blather about "famous people" so I don't. |
I was in Grand Central Station during the filming of "Bad Company" and between takes I yelled, "Hey Chris!" and he waved to my family. Does that count?
|
I met Dennis Johnson of the Boston Celtics.
I went to Senator Gregg's father's house uninvited because I couldn't get through to the Senator. He was very nice and helped me out quite a bit, after he got over the shock of me being there. By the way, Senator Gregg's father used to be the Governor of NH, so that counts, I think. I've seen former Senator Smith from NH at an airport. Didn't say anything, just noted that it was him. |
I know Weird Al Yankovic...
I don't know if he counts as famous. |
On a trip to San Francisco about 10 years ago I walked past the chick from that 90's rock band 4-Non-Blondes. Dreadlocks and all.
|
Shook hands with Sly, and Bruce Willis at the opening of one of those famous people restaurant cafe thigns in Singapore.
lol, its been like 10 years. sorry i can't remember the restaurant! :) |
I met Slayer, minus Tom Araya, at a mainly vietnamese dance club in Brisbane. They were grumpy and had nowhere to go, it was a public holiday. I was very drunk, and can't remember what we talked about, but I remember Jeff Hanneman saying, "Hey, you have to speak English!" at one point.

I haven't "met" any "famous people" but Sascha from KMFDM responded to an email of mine ^^ |
When my mom was working at a hotel in Milwaukee, she met Kenny Rogers. Apparently he's an arrogant asshole, but he may have just been cranky from travelling and it was late at night.
Edit: Apparently I need to clarify: she worked behind the front desk as the night auditer. Basically doing accounting type stuff and checking in late arrivals. |

Watch it. That's my mom you're talking about. Attack me all you want, I deserve it more than most. But she doesn't know this place exists, and can't defend herself. :p
*we need a smiley with a middle finger* |
I was an alter server at Pat Sajak's wedding in Annapolis, MD.
I played badminton with Scottie Pippen from back when he was with the Bulls. I met David Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken, Jr, and Johnny Unitas. (Can you tell I'm originally from Maryland?) Muhammad Ali, Tyrone Willingham, Ara Parseghian, Rocky Bleier, and Dick Vitale. I met Senator McCain, Presidents Bush (the first one) and Clinton, and Senator Bill Bradley. I think those are the only ones that most people would know. Some of the most famous people I've met have been military men and women who have done incredible things, but the majority of people wouldn't know them unless they were in the military. |
let's see...brushes with greatness...
Rode in the Silver Queen Gondola in Aspen with Jack Nicholson.... |
I met Robert DeNero, Robert Duvall, Al Pachino, Francis Ford Coppela, and a bunch of other stars when they were filming The Godfather part II. They stayed at the hotel my family had a cabana membership with. My sisters and I got parts as extras in the movie as well as a bunch of our friends. I was only 12 at the time but remember it well. Not too many people get to say they played in a pool with Al Pachino:D All of them were very nice (they were there for 6 weeks).
I also took Crispin Glover 4x4ing when he came up here. He's a really good shit. (long story that I'm not going into). A few years ago while skiing up at Whistler I had my lunch across the table from Tom Brokaw (the tables are a cafeteria type setting). He asked me a few questions about the mountain and the local scene. My girlfriend had no idea who he was until I showed him reading the news a week or so later. (this was during the Clinton - Yeltsin summit in Vancouver) |

Just to give a smile to those of you who are Farkers...
We have friends who work in the Art Department for the Star Trek shows/movies. One year, we were there visiting and met Wil Wheaton while he was still on Star Trek:The Next Generation. Nice guy, a little shy. |
First off - the references to Kenny Rogers - an arrogant asshole? Drunk arrogant asshole is probably a lot closer to what I've seen on several occasions. The only really famous people I've ever really met personally - like up close and personal, are Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. When working in law enforcement I had a chance to spend about an hour with them in my car in a terrible snowstorm while we waited for a tow truck to come after them. They were two of the most pleasant people I've ever met and this was under poor circumstance for them - Course! Might of been a lot worse if I hadn't shown up when I did!
|
Hell, I am famous! I just won't let you know how because I love my secret life on the forum!
|
My cousin just married a guy that has a band....They have out two albums....He's a pretty cool guy.
|
I used to draw flip book animation with this guy named Pete. But I realized that he was a dork and I had beer to drink and ciggs to smoke and punkrock and he was a freaky Christian.
That Bastard up and created Toy Story, Monsters Inc and that kick ass Listerine comercial with the sword fights.... Why did I have to be so "cool" No really, i look back and laugh at those life decisions... |
As I mentioned in the "what famous athletes do you know" thread- My sister went to school with Scottie Pippen- he was a friend of our family for a time. He's unbelievably nice - very kind to my mom...
But, under the catagory of those you've met: I've actually met a lot of famous people, but I only have a story to tell about a few of them. Here's one... We had really great season tix for the Bulls and our seats were in very close proximity with MJ's security guard/body guard. His name is Gus (he's quasi famous and an awesome guy). Anyway, sometimes he lets me go down the the locker room to hang. This one time we were going to meet MJ (I was impressing a date). We were hanging out waiting with Chris (Robinson?) Kid- from Kid N' Play (who was also really cool). Gus (black guy) introduces me (white guy) to MJ and says, "Mike, I'd like to introduce you to my favorite nephew" and Mike says shaking his head, "Gus, man, you got more favorite white nephews than anybody I know." Not the funniest thing that's ever been said, but when Mike says it, you laugh pretty hard. We walked him to his car... it was pretty cool. |

In my youth...gawd that was long ago, when I dabbled in politics, I met Richard Nixon, Barry Goldwater, Pat Nixon, Bob Dole, Sammy Davis Jr., John Wayne, Governor Sebelius and Karl Rove. Now in my golden years, the most famous person I get to meet is, oh wait, I don't go anywhere....haha
|
Sports - Dave Winfield, Thurmon Munson, Carl Yastremski, Mike Piazza, Doctor J, Mike Tyson, Muhammed Ali, Tony Dorsett, Anna Kournakova,
Movies - Sly, Michael Douglas, Michael Caine, Robin Williams, Models - Brooke Shields, Cheryl Tiegs, Music - Billy Joel, Liza Minelli That's all I have for now. I know there there alot more. It'll come to me. Glad |
Hmm, I've run into a shitload of famous people. It's kind of normal in NY.
Gilbert Goddfreid Paul Shaffer Rob Lowe I was at a bar a while ago seeing a freind's band play and Natasha Lyonne and Chloe Sevigny came in. I said hi to Lyonne, cuz I think she's super cute, but whatever. My mom worked for Gary Hart way back when so I met him a bunch and also Stephen King, who also worked for Hart. I used to be in a band with a freind of Jon Spenser's way back when, so he was at least peripherally aware of me. Oh, and I met a bunch of celebs at House of Blues when I worked there. The best was Ted Nugent. I was cooking brick oven pizza and he kept coming up behind me and telling me he was an apprentice blacksmith and could really understand where I was coming from. Eventually somebody smuggled some booze out to his trailer and he left me alone. That was pretty funny. |
i used to work in the bar of one of Sydneys top hotels.
i've met A LOT of famous people. because when they stay in Sydney, there's really only two hotels that celebs choose. heres a little list...because the Matrix is a big talking point at the moment... the Wachowski brothers. (truly strange gentlemen) Keanu Reeves. or JD (john doe) as we were instructed to call him. Laurence Fishburne. ('you look like 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag') Harry Perrineau. (really friendly guy) Roy Jones Jr. (awesome guy whos addicted to chocolate, so is his buddy, mario - who couldn't stop showing off his rolex) the list goes on, including people from Shaggy to Bon Jovi, Sting to Destinys Child (beautiful, generous girls!), Christina Aguilira (sp? - bitch!) Ed Harris (drunk wanker bled on me!), jessica alba (HOT), mandy moore (HOT), Richard E Grant, ZZ Top, AC/DC (really great guys!). i'll stop now. oh, just one more - Gregory Peck. |
I talked with Bob Dylan once after one of his concerts. Nicest guy you'd ever meet.
|
Uhh I've exchanged e-mail and had chat sessions with some 'famous' game designers and other internet people. Don't know if that counts.
|
I'm from the same hometown as The Commodores, so Lionel Richie and Ronald LaPread are good friends of my whole family. In the summer of 1980 they allowed me to be a roadie on their US tour. EYE-OPENER!!!!!
The drummer for the original Classics IV (Kim Venable) is a cousin of mine. I met Paul Revere & The Raiders (including Mark Lindsey) in 1966 at an all-star show, and we named our cat "Fang" after their guitar player. I played in a band that was the opening act for Billy Joe Royal's 1987 US tour. I jammed with Mac McAnally in a studio in Muscle Shoals in 1980. I taught Victoria Jackson (from SNL) how to play the ukelele in college. Her ditzy-ness is NOT an act; she is exactly that way in real life. Also in college, I tutored Bo Jackson (geography) and Charles Barkley (economics, of all things). While living in Iowa, my wife and I became "dinner partners" with an assistant basketball coach and his wife, Terry and Pat Reed. It was their son, Neil Reed, who helped bring down Bobby Knight at Indiana. One of my two biggest heroes is Sid Caesar (the other is John Lennon), and I talked to him on the phone when he was on Larry King Live 20 years ago. That would be Sid, not John. I never came anywhere close to meeting a Beatle. |
In addition to all the encounters with the cult of the personality during my youth (I had many opportunities to meet people then), I met John Nash at a conference on game theory. However, I didnt' realize who it was until after I had finished my conversation with him and one of my friends said something to the affect of "Wow, you got to talk to John Nash, what was it like?" He seemed like a perfectly normal (for a mathematician) old man to me.
|
I've met Bruce Campbell 4 times, Margaret Cho, David Spade, The Rock, Tom Savini, the cast of Dawn of the Dead, Trent Reznor, James Maynard Keenan, Marilyn Manson, Gina Lee Nolan.
|
Richard Masur lives in my building. Thats about it.
Most poeple dont even know who he is. I know I didnt at first until my g/f pointed him out :p (hint: he was in The Thing, a lot of 80s movies, and a lot of tv shows) |
I’ll probably get flamed to a pitiful cinder over this, but I have something to say about another celebrity I met, George Wallace. For those of you not from the US, or for those of you too damn young to know, George Wallace will always be remembered as the Alabama governor who stood in the schoolhouse door at the University of Alabama and physically blocked the integration of that school in 1962 (watch Forrest Gump). His catchphrase that day was “Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever.”
But no matter how you feel about his politics, it would be foolish to refuse to admit that he was a hell of a master politician. He completely reversed his segregation policy when it became unfashionable and won a final term as Alabama’s governor in 1982 with the help of a landslide black vote. And Richard Nixon owed him a lot, because Wallace destroyed the Democratic Party in the ’68 Presidential Elections while running as an Independent. I met Wallace in 1966 as my sister’s class toured the state capitol. My parents were chaperones for that field trip, so our entire family got to meet him. He was completely gracious and unbelievably patient in talking to everyone (adult and child), and I couldn’t believe he would actually take that much time with every single tour group. Fast forward to the 1982 gubernatorial race in Alabama, and Wallace toured my hometown, where my parents still ran a Mom and Pop store. Wallace came into my folks’ store in order to campaign and spoke to my parents. My father said, “You probably don’t remember this, but we met you back in 1966….” Wallace interrupted him by calling his name, calling my mother’s name, and asking how each of the kids were doing (calling each of us by name, also). No matter how you feel about George Wallace, you’ve got to admire mental faculties like that. |
Relax warrrreagl, I will probably get flamed also...
When I was in High School I used to really be into drawing. Free-hand drawing, not the computer aided type stuff... REAL drawing. I entered a contest sponsored by Detroit Edison to promote their, "Look Up", safety theme. Well, low and behold, I won first place for all of Michigan! Woo-hoo! I had dinner in Downtown Detroit (at the DTE HQ) with all of the finalists and... Isiah Thomas. He actually sat with me and my family and had dinner. This was in '88. He was cool then! Really easy going and nice. My only "brush" with someone famous. |
My wife and I won tickets to a concert; what we didn't realize was they were backstage passes, AND we were supposed to be on-stage with the starring band which was Little Feat. MAN did we have a good time; to all the Little Feat bandmembers on ths board, you guys are the greatest!
|
I am terrible with faces. I expect people to look the way they do on TV or the movies. So I never recognize anyone even if I was sitting next to them. I did convince my wife that a woman in Sizzler was Chris Everett the tennis player, but I don't think it really was.
|
I shook hands with Arnold Swartzenegger at the opening of Planet Hollywood in Vancouver. I think its pretty cool, since Arnold is one of my fav actors
|
I work in a hospital so I've met quite a few. Proffesional ethics stops me from mentioning their names, but I did meet Billy Casper when I was 10 years old at a golf tourney in the phillipines. I climbed a tree on the course to get a better look and split my pants. He made his putt dispite stareing at my underwear from across the green.
|
I met Jimmy Hill.... but i think you have to be English to know him :D

As far as I can remember, the only famous person I've met is Roy Clark. My dad used to play with his touring band, and we went on tour with them when I was a kid. We had lunch with him and got our picture taken. Seemed like a nice guy, and though I didn't and still don't care for the music much, his raw talent was very obvious from watching him play.
We live in Northwest Arkansas, near some old Civil War battlefields where "The Blue and the Gray" was filmed, and my (future) wife went to be an extra and met Lloyd Bridges. He held her hand for a few minutes during a scene change or something. She said he was really nice. I remembered one more: I had a class with pro football great Steve Atwater when he was in college at Arkansas. I can't really say I knew him, but we were in class together and I spoke to him occasionally. |
wasn't this on [I]Tilted Nonsense[/I}?
i've met Walter Peyton: I did a comercial with him for the MDA. (long ago, i've got nothing good to say about MDA) I had Lamont from Sanford and Son come visit me once when I had pneumonia. he's a preacher now and a nice guy. I've also met POD in 97 and 99. they are awesome people. in 97 they were playing off of their "B.R.O.W.N." lp.. it was GOOD. too bad their mainstreeme music kinda sucks. but as people, the guys from POD are wonderful. i talked to Sonny (lead singer) a long time and Marcos (the slightly over-weight guitarest) and was amazed at how laid back and nice they were. I also met Tray (the bassist) but he's very, very shy and Wuv (drummer) was nice too, but busy. they even asked me to go out and eat with them. and they answered my emails personally. they are also 'real Christians' like myself. theytry to live by Christ's actions, not dogmatic views. ok... it seems like i've met someone else but i forget who... |
I've met a handful of celebrities, mostly entertainers, athletes and politicians; however, the most memorable one for me was Brigadier General Charles Duke, who was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 16.
Yep, I met a guy who walked on the moon! How cool is that?! |
I sat next to Calvin Hill on the shuttle bus at an airport. My then-wife didn't know who he was (First free agent in the NFL- running back, has a son named Grant who plays basketball) but he was on his cellphone so I laid off. He was talking to his colleagues at the Dallas Cowboys front office about how fast Joey Galloway was. He caught me snickering (I am a Redskins fan and Joey is very fast-but also very brittle). When we got off the bus I told my then-wife who he was- and as the bus drove away he waved to us.
Literally bumped into Jason Sehorn once. He might not look like too much on TV but he is big, and in shape. He was all decked out in some Versace suit but he was cool about it. I had just finished working the game in the hospitality suite section so I was looking rough. Sehorn was like, "Man, you look like I feel." I asked him if he felt that bad, we laughed and I moved along. |
i got to go back stage and meet all the original members of KISS Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace. I also know Ike Willis who Played bass for Frank Zappa for many years. He introduced me to Steve Vai once.
While Living in nashville we used to run into lots of Country and Contemporary Christian Artists at the Mall, resteraunts and such |
Have you ever met a celebrity?
Have you ever met anyone well known? Such as a celebrity, sports figure, politician, president or prime minister, etc...
As for myself: I have met Larry Walker (Baseball player for the Colorado Rockies) And I have had a one-on-one political discussion with Ann Coulter. She's a fascinating person to talk to. Very sharp, witty and can formulate an excellent argument either for or against any topic. |
I've met Bill Clinton (don't share that much often) and we actually talked about the whole Monica Lewinski scandal (he didn't give details, it was a very serious and mature talk). I've met a few other celebrities (Mario Lopez, Jean Claude van Damm, Arnold Schwarzaneggar, Silvester Stalone) but none were as interesting as President Clinton.
|
brief encounter with harrison ford's brother, theo when he was directing "outbreak" in ferndale, ca. he kindly scolded me for snapping a flash photo during the filming of a night scene. oops!
i've seen steve wozniak tooling around town in either his jaguar or his hummer & he was recently riding his segway at a mt. winery concert. i think that's as close to celebrity encounters as i can tell. i have friend who is grocery store checker & she sees celebs all the time. she said peggy fleming is a serious twat bitch. |
I met Dana Elcar ( the old man from MacGayver ) at a job fair and Lane Staley asked me to get out of his way at the first punk concert i ever went to.
|
I interviewed Johnny Holliday for a Comm class once. I also shook EJ Henderson's hand after a football game.
Generally I tend to be very shy (perfect for someone going into a journalism-broadcast field...), so I don't talk to many celebrities. |
Northern Wisconsin isn't exactly a hot-stpo for celebrity. I'd say the closest thing was Brett Favre waving to our family that was huddled by a side door at a Packer's practice.
Heh... |
I met one of the dudes from that show SCTV, he was an ass. Also I danced with Avril Lavigne sister once at some semiformal at her old school. I really didn't want to but I figured I should so that I couls tell people.
|
I've met Steve Kerr and Isiah Thomas a few years ago, and several current Chicago Bears players at training camp a little while ago.
|
Clinton and Mother Teresa.
I really didn't have an opportunity to talk in depth to either of them, but it was still neat. Oh, edited to add: I didn't think about it, but I once grilled Colorado senator Ben Nitehorse Campbell (he's an ass, IMO) and had a good chat with former Colorado governor Dick Lamm (think "Duty to Die"). I also knew my state reps and senators by first name while I still lived in the city. |
Well, I don't really consider myself as having MET any celebrities.
I've spoken briefly with Mike Singletary (I was so young I barely remember) and Tony Amonte. I've also said a couple words to Mickey Dolenz (the Monkees) and one of the Buckinghams (another oldies group - known for "Susan" and "Happy Together" among others) Besides for that though, none that I can think of. |
i've met johnathan jackson (tuck everlasting, general hospital, camp nowhere) and his brother richard jackson (saved by the bell: new class).
|
Many of them. I have a few that are good friends. Here are just a couple:
All the Baldwin brothers Anthony Hopkins Owen Wilson Most of these are friends I see maybe a couple of times a year but the only one that really made me all goofy inside when I met him was Jimmy Page........I FUKIN FREAKED!! I sold his sister in law a car and her and I became really good friends. Well she always mention her sister and husband named Jimmy, well when Page Plant had their Walking into Clarksdale tour I had mentioned to her one day that I would love to see that show....thats when she said her sister is married to Jimmy Page.I said.."yea right" she said serious and I she would hook me up. Back Stage...front row....AWESOME!! I went to her house the next day to thank her. Jimmy and his family was there and we talked and shot the shit for a couple of hours. That was the only time I was really excited about meeting a celeb...........I MEAN JIMMY FUKIN PAGE!!!!! |
I met Mohammad Ali when I was really young.
|
I flew in a DC-3 with Bill Clinton back in 1982, when he was trying to reclaim the Arkansas governor's office after losing it in 1980. The plane belong to a co-worker of my uncle, both of whom worked at KPOM-TV then. He spent most of the plane ride from Fort Smith to Little Rock telling "Little Johnny" jokes, not exactly the best thing to be telling a 7 year-old, but he was sick of working on some stupid speech he was giving and Hillary wasn't there looking over his shoulder.
Since then, most of the celebrities I've seen were wrestlers: "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer, Chavo Guererro Sr., and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. Former Razorback basketball coach Nolan Richardson tipped me $10 once. |
I met Ron Howard at a wedding of one of my relatives (second cousin, or aunt or something, never met them before). It was this huge event in New York. I only talked to him for a little bit, and I was sure not to mention how he can't dance at all.
|
i met Mickey mouse and Minney!!!!
|
i met lots of famous people when i worked bar, but i haven´t met too many since... and guess what, my lifes no different.
the most famous person i´ve met recently was RON JEREMY, at Sexpo. funny bloke. |
I met a local news anchor one time at a Duncan Donuts.
She was very sweet about talking to us and giving out autographs. Funnily enough, two Country singers came from my little home town, but I was a few grades below them and after graduating, they skedaddled out of town so I didn't meet them. (Lee Ann Womack and Neil McCoy) I graduated with a guy that ended up making one of those Skinemax movies in Hollywood, and my brother graduated with Deborah Yates. She was in the Broadway musical, "Contact". She played the girl in the yellow dress. I don't think I met her, but I might've brushed by her in the hall at school. Does that count? ;) When my mom started college in West Texas when she was younger, she met a girl that later became a good friend. They hung out, did the usual stuff. Then one day, she invited my mom over to her Mothers' house, and when they came inside it was to see the girls' brother, looking all dirty and scruffy, asleep on the couch. I think they were going to have coffee and maybe study some in the living room. Moms' friend was a little put out by her brother being there and so she decided to pour some water on his head to wake him up. Well, needless to say, he was now up. ;) While coffee was brewing, he and my mom got acquainted. It turned out to be Waylon Jennings, before the fame. |
I've met some chicks that I'm pretty sure we'll all be seeing in the next instalment of buttman goes to whoreville.
|
one for the uk users.
Worked in these peoples houses and met them: Robin Cook when he was foreign secretary, had to move his TV set to do some work on his aerial/satellite system and managed to knock over an expensive looking chess set on the top of the tv set. got all the pieces back bar an elephant (which were the pawns) so naturally didn't say a word. Victoria Wood, Sean Bean (nice guy) and got stuck in a lift at the Treasury with Gordon Brown (MASSIVE guy). And Howard Wilkinson when he was caretaker manager of England Football (soccer) team, he's about 7 feet tall! |

john glenn and bob weir.
|
I've personally never met any celebrities (that I know of), but my dad claims he met Soul Brother Number One, the Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Mr. Dynamite himself, James Brown. Apparently Mr. Brown owns (or owned (don't know if he still does)) a radio station around here.
|
Danny Glover, Denis Leary, Dennis Miller, Ron Jeramy, Larry Flynt, Jennifer Love Hewitt, *NSYNC, Limp Bizkit, Staind...
I could go on for days... You get the idea. |
Quote:
I was on Queen Elizabeth's Personal Security Detail, when she toured the Strategic Air Command Headquaters back in 1986. Oddly enough, they pulled Sgt's Carrigan, Cassidy and O'Hallorin off of the detail at the last minute. I'm sure that it had nothing to do with their Irish names. And yeah...that was as boring as it sounds. |
Are we talking here spotted or really met? You know, hand shake how are you doing? Spotted a lot, living in NYC. Met, Grace Slick, Al Pacino, John Baluchi and knew Al Lettieri (The bad guy in The Godfather 1)
|
There are a few, but my favorite (and this is more of a "spotting" than a "meeting") was when I was walking past the Ed Sullivan Theater here in NYC during a Letterman taping. There was a big crowd out front but I wasn't sure why. So I waited around and eventually made my way to the front. Suddenly, Don Rickles came out of the store next door (I guess they were filming a "bit" there) and walked right in front of me. It caught me by surprise so I yelled out, "wow! Don Rickles!"
He just stopped in his tracks - stared at me for 5 seconds (seemed like 10 minutes) like I was the biggest asshole he had ever met - and then kept walking. I'm pretty proud of that one. Don Rickles thought I was an asshole. But Don Rickles probably thinks most people are assholes. |
Well this summer I met Davy Jones very breifly. I won some music scholarship through a festival my town puts on during the fourth of July. They usually have some well known performer for the last night, and this year it happened to be him. They presented the award to me on the same stage he performed on, so basically we walked past each other, and he said "hi" and congratulations." Thats the closest I've ever come to "meeting" anyone famous, but hey, its better than nothing. :)
|
John Madden, Kevin Costner, "Downtown" Julie Brown, Kathleen Turner
All in New Orleans at little restaurants that I frequented. |
too many to list... especially since they come in and out of the MTV building all the time. They are just people like you and me.
recent met up again with the voice of Bender from Futurama... |
Life in LA in the late seventies and early eighties had me meeting many celebs in the context of everyday life. Here are just a few,
Magic Johnson Kareem Abdul Jabbar James Worthy Marcus Allen Ronnie Lott Dennis Smith Numerous others on the SC teams Telly Sevales Morgan Fairchild Hugh Hefner President Ford Bob Hope George Lucas Hung out with the band Dream Theater Various Playboy Playmates LA is a place with many to meet! |
I ran a warmup with Carl Lewis, I had dinner with several of the San Jose Sharks as well as the S.F. 49ers, used to work for Bruce Jenner, met and unseccessfully flirted with Peggy Flemming, met Jackie Joyner Kersey and Flo-Jo, went to school with Oto Bolden, worked directly with Ronnie Lott and Joe Theisman for a dinner benefit, had dinner with Lamonte and Tonelli, radio hosts in San Jose, have sat at a table with Jeff Garcia and friends, sat next to Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman at a pizza joint in the middle of nowhere. That's all I can remember.
|
Erm...I met a professional wrestler at a small waterpark I work at in the summer. Can't remember which one he was, The Rock maybe? I got his autograph after he asked me for the time, and I lost it.
|
I am originaly from Alvin, Tx which is where Nolan Ryan lives, so I have seen and talked to him at several restaraunts and stuff like that. And one of my friends used to live like 3 houses down from him. Hes a cool guy but i wish he would have done more for the town. I know its not required but the town had to cancel a little league baseball season because they did not have enough money to replace rotting light poles.
|
i met the TV geek from the show Beat the Geeks...he was in line at FRYS electronics in Burbank, CA.....my bro is a pro baseball player....so i know him...lol......i also saw Bill Murray at an In-N-Out down in San Diego
|
i have worked 2 different private aviation airport jobs so i've met countless people
the highlights (aka nice folks): victoria principle dale earnhardt jr gerald ford (who looks like a rotting corpse but is sweet nonetheless...) heather locklear the lowlights (aka total fucking pricks): mariah carey george steinbrenner |
I got a hug from Martina Hingis at a tennis tournament
I also got in a lengthy conversation with Tyrone Noonan from George at a record store, and you can't live in Perth for long without seeing Heath Ledger once or twice. First time I saw him, he was perving on a friend of mine :) |
I saw David Hasselhoff at the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. He was an asshole!
My kid sister and her friend wanted an autograph, and he told them to fuck off! How rude! |

GWBush at Governor's Christmas party in Austin-I was set up with the sister of a friend of mine's date. The sisters' father was, I guess, a big shot, and that's why we got to go. We joked about West Texas and new england boarding schools.
Guy from Dawson's Creek that's not Dawson -can't remember his name-at a bar in New Orleans. My wife started talking to him. My wife also knew the guy that was a lacrosse player on American Pie, Kevin Klien or Kline or something, in college. My friend from college was on an episode of Walker, TX Ranger! Other people I knew in college were on Survivor and that show where the guys wore masks and the girl picked them. My friend was the only normal one out of them all, and he didn't get picked. Pat Green -got to know him at George's bar before he was big Didn't really meet them, just interacted with them: Clinton at state of the Union -the one where he held up a card and said that every American would have one and have access to health care-I was a congressional page at the very back and I just had a long arm I guess. My parents back home saw me on ABC. Poppa Bush at Republican convention in 1992 when I worked at the convention center as a summer job, shook his hand. Hakeem Olijuwan -our choir sang the national anthem at a Rockets game, and as we were walking on, the teams were still warming up. A ball was rolling toward me, I picked it up, and looked, and there was Hakeem, looking at me, so I passed it to him. Nothing too exciting |
I met Bill Gates about 10 years ago.
An application I developed was selected to show at the Microsoft booth at Comdex. Bill came around shaking hands and meeting with each of the presenters. He didn't spend much time at my display. Probably because I wrote the program in Borland C. :) Philippe Kahn (Borland's CEO at the time), however, stopped by and chatted with me for a long time. |
I've met Andrew 'Dice' Clay once. we were at a college fair which was connected to a hotel downtown and he was playing in town that night, we happened to bump into him.
I've also met all the members of Barenaked ladies and Cowboy Mouth (Who're they?) several times. I also 'met' Robin Williams once when we decided to hang out outside his hotel waiting for him to come out on his way to a gig, and then being swarmed by about 20 autograph seekers. My Buddy, on the other hand, a 'professional autograph seeker' ('grapher) has probably met every professional wrestler and baseball player you can think of. (At least I was impressed when I saw his collection) That is all. :) |
I drove R. Kelly's car. Forget meeting them - have they trusted you with their automobile?
|
I've met: Al Pachino, Robert Duvall, Robert de Nero, Nicolas Cage, Crispin Glover, Diane Lane, Val Kilmer, Francis Ford Coppola, Tom Brokaw and a bunch of others but I can't remember their names.
I've seen a bunch of celebs too, but I could care less if I actually met them. |
I don't know if professional drag racers count? If so here we go.
Shirley Muldowney, Don Garlits, Kenny Bernstein, Rhonda Hartman, Jim Head, Connie and Doug Kalitta, Bob Glidden (asshole), John Force (crazy sob, fun to talk to), Cruz and Tony Pedregon, Darrell Alderman, Bruce Allen, Warren Johnson (asshole), Larry Morgan and Jim Yates. Used to race with these guys before I retired from drag racing. Probably forgot a couple. |

Met Tori Amos once. Am a big fan nowadays, but back then I hadn't heard of her (told her as much), so most of my replies during the conversation were along the lines of "yeah, nice, that's interesting...mmhmm..".
Six years later, I feel like a jackass. |
Christina Aguilera. My sister is highschool friends with one of her friends, so she came to my house for a few drinks.
