a REAL discussion about public obesity
no offense to anyone who is overwieght or obese...but i really cant stand it when i pay $700 for a plane ticket and have to sit in your fat rolls for the entire 5 hour flight. and it equally offensive to me when i go to the movies and you want to sit right next to me and push your fat over onto the seat i paid for. i am also offended when you get onto the elevator in the morning with all of your gear and take up the space of 2 or 3 people and those 2 or 3 people have to wait for the next elevator. i am offended when i am at a restaurant and you cant push yourself up close to the table and i have to crush myself to get behind your seat, which doesnt move because i am unable to slide your shear girth anywhere. it also offends me when you dont shower because it takes too much effort. it also offends me when i see you gasping for breath after climbing a short flight of stairs.
i really am not trying to offend anyone, but dont people with obesity issues have any concern for the inconvenience they cause to others around them? has it not been made clear time and again that obesity is unhealthy and increasingly a major contributing factor to health problems in america? dont we have enough issue with our health care system already? and obese people are going to exacerbate it because they cant control themselves enough not to eat the second jumbo bacon cheddar burger? am i the only one who feels offended by the behavior of obese people? in actuality, i am only marginally offended, if at all, by anything. but i did want to start a meaningful discussion about public obesity. so begin... |

well, what is the right angle? i wanted to be as upfront and blatantly clear about what offends me about obese people. and i want people to discuss how obesity does or does not bother them. i guess maybe i could have worded it a bit better, but i the wording of other acceptable forums discussing similar topics, there seemed to be an ok response, and so this was the route i chose.
and i am genuinely interested to see if a meaningful discussion springs forth. |

Amen.
Don't worry about how other people are pissing you off. Being large and/smoking is the least of your concerns. Make youself happy by doin' stuff for yourself. Not stopping others from being themselves.
