yellowchef 12-06-2004 08:45 AM

and yes, I washed it out and it still itches

Bill O'Rights 12-06-2004 08:47 AM

I suppose it could've been worse. You could've gotten it up your nose. Then you could've walked around all day looking like a cokehead.
Seriously...you did wash your eye out...right?

yellowchef 12-06-2004 08:48 AM

yes, in the sink.. but it still itches, it doesnt burn anymore.

no I like the burnination in my eye.

maleficent 12-06-2004 08:49 AM

If it still itches, I'd rinse it some more- -and check the bottle for instructions on what to do if it gets in your eye...

ShaniFaye 12-06-2004 08:50 AM

why does using powder mean your poor? I use powder...does that mean Im poor too?

That's funny!

But seriously, laundry soap is, technically, not soap but detergent, and, as such, has properties that soap does not have.

The pain you're feeling is, more than likely, some minor damage to your cornea because of the detergent, and if it still hurts several hours after a thourough washing, you should seek some qualified care.

some things to try in the meantime:
Continue to rinse, but try not to rub.
Try a soothing eye drop, they will lubricate and also should wash as well.
Try keeping your eyes closed for long periods of time. Tough to do if you're at work, driving, or even reading this baord :), but that will help to keep your eyes moist and will also promote healing.

Again, try not to rub them, it's a natural reaction, but it is not helpful.

Good luck, and keep your face out of the powder!

Try the liquid insteadm it makes GREAT shooters!

Peace,

Pierre

Take that feeling, multiply it times ten, and let it burn for about 20 minutes. That's what pepper spray feels like. :)

Good times.

luke warm water and loads of it. gets all the crap out your eyes.

Once i was on top of my roof a home fixing a tile and got some dust in both my eyes. took me about 5 minutes to find that ladder and couldn't see shit. about 15 minutes with my eyes under the tap soon done the job.

Did they not go over, at the academy, that when you're neutralizing a combative suspect, to aim the pepper sray at him? :D

It could have been come. Count your blessings.

Stuff never usually goes as planned when you're in a street fight and your partner suddenly decides to spray the suspect. You're supposed to give a verbal warning, but I don't think I've ever heard one. I've probably been sprayed 5-6 times in 7 years now, not counting all the times in the academy. I'm actually getting used to it now.

Usually when you start to wash it off, it activates again. The real fun is driving the suspect to the hospital for decontamination with only one eye open.

Suave 12-06-2004 04:02 PM

Yeah, and pepper spray has a large area of effect. Suffice to say you want to be upwind of it when you or whomever else is spraying it, because even a little will make you want to die.

ShaniFaye 12-06-2004 04:06 PM

I still want to know why using powder means your poor?

Painted 12-06-2004 04:16 PM

I guess powder is cheaper? I dont know, I go to the laundromat.

yellowchef 12-06-2004 10:44 PM

powder is cheaper. lol

and it wasnt really burning anymore just itching so I was letting the tears come out and not rubbing it. I washed it out quite well.

I know its detergent, but I am lazy.. I call it soap!
