christmas presents gone wrong ..........security tag still on shirt after we get home
ok im not for sure if this the right place but hey.. it seems pretty general to me..
so here goes we went shopping quite a while ago for christmas and gt some stuff. one of the nike t-shirts we got ( were not sure where we got it ) they didt take the ink tag of off. so heres the problem if not obvious. how the hell do you get it off w/o ruining the shirt.. looking at it, it appears to have yellow and blue ink in to aproximatley 1 inch vials runing paralell to each other. i have always assumed they stores use a magnet to "pull" pin ou tof the lock. i dont really know anything about theese devices except that they can ruin clothes easilly. anyone got any ideas??? yes i would like to save the shirt. no i dont have the recipt or do i even know where i bought it. we live in a very rural area so almost all shopping is done sevral hours from home excpet for walmart wich dosnt use theese tags. i have allot of hand tools ie: hammers screwdrivers and saws. im pretty sure theese things wont help me here.... ok so shoot im lookig for knowledeg. and w/o stealing my thread (muuahahahaha) you got any shopping gone wrong expieriences ie: got beat up looking for reaching for that last dvd palyer........

I'm going to assume you're on the up and up about this. I mean, what do have to cause doubt? Nothing, right? So, now that we've got all the uncomfortableness out of the way let's go.
I did a quick search and found this at the Beginner's Guide to Shoplifting Funny how they have whole pages devoted to this shit, but, hey, what can you do? On another page he suggests the simplist matter in which to remove the security tag is to stick it in the freezer to freeze the ink. Then you can just pull of the tag however you like and avoid spilling the whole mess on your shirt. I don't have any personal shopping gone wrong experiences myself, but I was about 40 feet away from this poor lady who got trampled at Wal*Mart last year on "Black Friday." And, yes, it was because of a DVD player. She managed to grab one and then the crowd beat her down. Someone finally called the paramedics and they took her to the hospital. I was standing at a couple of clothes racks that weren't 40 feet away from the DVD pallet when it happened and I didn't see a thing. I didn't know what was going on either until the ambulance arrived. That's how crazy it was. The sad thing about the entire venture is that she managed to grab a DVD player, but when she left in the ambulance the Wal*Mart guy in charge (suit, tie, general smirk) made her leave the player there at the service desk because she hadn't paid for it yet. Wait it gets worse. When she came back to claim it, they wanted to charge her full price for the thing instead of the $39 sales price because she didn't actually purchase it while it was on sale. I hear she's got a nice big lawsuit against Wal*Mart, although, I seriously doubt she's ever going to see any money.

Wow, what nightmare.
Since I live in LA and I don't have a car, I do a lot of shopping on line. I find there's a great selection, usually free shipping, and sometimes no tax. When I used to to the store, (i.e. - Best Buy etc) I would see fights over parking spots!! During Christmas time - How wrong is that? Anyways, between surly service and surly customers I avoid going out and now shop online. Although convenient, I think it's sad that our society has decayed and lost its humanity. *sniff* (cue violins). Mind you, I';m not a hermit, I still shop the mom&pop nearby and by bus and stuff. |
