In Need of Suggestions

I'm in a bit of a funk right now, any suggestions as for something to do to cheer up?

Do something new that you never thouhgt of trying, like take a kaaking course, learn to play guitar, colunteer for your local Opera or theatre group. Whatever, just do something different, meet new people, find a new crowd to hang with for awhile (or forever, sometimes these things can stick to you).

Whatever it is, let us know if you do someything and what it is. I would suggest if you're feeling like you're sliding downwards, stay away from things like bow hunting or firearms. Just a thought.

Good luck, and take care,

Peace,

Pierre

Drive out to the middle of nowhere and then scream your head off. Then realize that whatever is bringing you down isn't worth being down about. I just got out of a funk a couple of hours ago. My world is crumbling around me but I don't care. I'm not wasting my time being down about it. Shit will happen. Try to deal with it and don't let it bring you down. Then go home and rub one out.

my personal favorite thing to make myself feel better is to eat a bunch of valium, get on a bike, and blast Air's Moon Safari on my studio headphones.

I put on my cheeriest pop music, strip down to my underwear, and dance.

That never fails. Really.

If it's more pervasive, I'd suggest doing something you normally wouldn't do, like taking a ballroom dancing class or whatever. Get outta the rut, so to speak.

And masturbation never hurt anyone.

Find a new job. Date someone of ethnic origins. Play strip poker with a bunch of women. Smoke some dope (I would never do this, but why not for you?). Go bungie jumping, white water rafting, skiing. Look at the stars. Go out to a bar alone, in a different city and try to meet as many women as you can....

Hmm. When I get into an inept funk, I do one of two things. I either start cleaning and tidying, or I write. Either is guaranteed to lift me, one because I'm making my personal space nice to inhabit again (it is frequently a horrible mess), and the other because I'm creating something outside of myself, giving vent to my feelings, and exploring my ideas in a tangible way. Order and creation are excellent ways to lift one's mood, rather than simply indulging yourself and wasting time. Masturbation is okay, but if you're of a self-punishing bent, and in a bad mood to start with, it might just make you feel worse.
