The official "show off your black friday loot" thread

Hey everybody. I just got home after trolling the stores this morning... the only thing I walked away with, due to lack of real spendable fundage more than anything else, was a 60 gig hard drive for 30 bucks from compusa. I ended up finding what appeared to be the last one in the store randmly left on top of a stack of video cards, so I got lucky, but my luck ran out when I ended up waiting in a line that snaked all the way around the inside of the store for more than an hour to check out. I was tempted to get other things, but waiting for rebates isn't always the best plan when rent is due at the beginning of next month.

So what did you find? How did you do? How long did you wait to get into the store or to check out? Tell us all about it!

I won' be going this year, when I used to live at my parents house going to the local BestBuy and a few others stores wasn't too nuts. Now that I live near Minneapolis and Stpaul I have to go near that area to do my Black Friday Shopping and its crazy, if you want any of the flyer deals you have to get to the store 4 hours before they open so no loot for me maybe next year

I refuse to venture out to any store on Black Friday. By the time I even get into the first store, I've already had my fill of rude people. It isn't worth the hassel.

I pulled my still half drunk ass outta bed at 4:30am. My cousin and I went to CompUSA to get a 52X32X52 Cd burner for 30 bucks. We were two of the first 25 people that were in line. Walked in, found what we needed and left. Then we made our way next door to Circuit City. God only knows why. I got Eminem and Lil' Jon's new albums and Training Day for 22 bucks. Can't beat a DVD for 5 bucks. While waiting in line all the computers went down and they had to check everyone out by hand. I got a hand written receipt. It was hell.

I can barely stand crowded areas under normal circumstances, much less when the turkey craze has taken hold. That said I get other suckers errr friends to do my shoping for me.

who live out in the country--

replaced her bad monitor and played with her baby sister---

ordered my new Dell 4700 PC over the internet...it has been a great day....

I usually avoid the sales rushes at all costs. I *hate* crowds, and so I end up paying a bit more.

Then again, no matter how much more I pay, it's less then the bail my wife would have to pay if I did go to the mall.

I couldn't go out on black friday because I had to be at CompUSA at five thirty that morning. And stayed till almost close that night.... I fucking hate black friday.... Oh and Phred, you should have ignored the 60 gig on top of the video cards because we had a substitute. An 80 gig for the same price... all the stores were given this substitute.

Does that count as loot?

I came in here thinking - there hasn't been a black friday recently (I checked the last Friday 13th was in August). Kinda funny what you associate with different names - google is my friend, so I now know the term relates to the friday after thanksgiving which is a good retail indicator in the US.

/move along - there is no thread jack here

Man, I've never heard of this black friday thing either. I'm assuming its much like Boxing Day shopping, just the start of the season rather than the end.

Gotta love hellish shopping days

I hate shopping anyway....but you wouldnt catch me out dead on Black Friday...we hit the road for Savannah Friday morning and trying to eat lunch in Macon was bad enuff (took us 2 1/2 hours to get a table and eat)

I did however do some shopping on River Street Saturday and in prowling the antique markets I managed to find me 8 pieces of the Avon 1876 Cape Cod series plates, bowls, etc for right at 100 bucks!! I was so psyched...

Ya, now I'm always up for antique shopping.

Nothing like finding a piece you've been searching for for years. (Still looking for Dewey pitchers...)

I already have the more common large one of these.

There is another design that I am looking for as well as the rarer small versions.

I read that as "Dewey pictures" and I was thinking of the "Dewey Beats Truman" newspaper headling. I need to read more carefully I think...

As far as Black Friday loot, I got none. The only purchase I made was a crappy $8 sandwich. My mouth still hurts from that crusty bread.

I played with my kids and shopped on-line. I decided that this would be the "Meat" Christmas. I did all my shopping for relatives in one day at Omaha Steaks. Bought the meat, put in the addresses and gave them my credit card. 15 minutes later....all done. I still have to buy for the wife and the kids, but the pain in the neck shopping is done.

I was fortunate to get to stay home with the 4 kids. After that day, I almost was ready to admit that I would rather been shopping.

NO...

Come to think of it.... I would rather watch the kids. I really hate Shopping. My wife on the other hand was gone from 4AM until 10:30 that night. She is one shopping machine!!
