Our 'new' world, now we know what life has been for much of rest of the world for so long. But, I don't like it and won't accept it. We need to eliminate all forms of terror. And the rest of the civilized nations need to get on board.


Washington (dpa) - The U.S. government raised its terrorism alert level to ``high'' on Tuesday afternoon in response to intelligence reports pointing at a possible attack.

The White House was due to make a statement on raising the level from yellow to orange, the Cable News Network (CNN) reported.

Earlier, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warned of possible al-Qaeda terror attacks, and the U.S. State Department said it would temporarily shut its embassy and consulates in Saudi Arabia.

The May 12 car bombings in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, showed that the terrorist organization behind the September 11, 2001, suicide hijackings is still active and dangerous, said the FBI advisory.

The FBI's latest warning follows a series of suicide bombings believed to have been staged by al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia and Morocco.

The U.S. consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, would be closed along with the Riyadh embassy, said the State Department. A U.S. television network reported the closures would be in effect at least until early next week.

I don't live in fear of terrorists. I don't believe that they will ever be completely eradicated however. They play alot of shadow games and are sure to have a constant flow of new recruits. They may be dangerous and they may have a will.. but I will not change my lifestyle or live in fear of them. That would only be giving in to what they want.

I like knowing when the alert goes up. I know to use a commute route that does NOT take me past the DC monuments. ;-)

orange shmorange...it was pre-bush in days when the WTC parking lot was bombed, they were planning to bring down the seattle needle, they took down the federal center in oklahoma. the only thing that's different is that there's now a color associated with it.

I think (and hope) that it's another false alarm. It seems that they're doing a decent job of keeping us safe, as we haven't had any attacks here in the US since 2001, but they have to er on the side of caution so as to not be caught completely unprepared if something does happen.

The statement is something like this,
"... the intelligence community believes that there is still a threat to the US from anti-US terrorist groups."

Nice and specific, eh?

can't say i'm running for my life. and i very much doubt that terror will be eliminated. to think that would happen is just as naive as living in the sheltered world that was the US before 9/11, and that, for the most part, still remains.

how do these colors affect your life?

I've not given a darn since they started the rediculous colors.

I'm affraid of dying, i admit it. I was scared the first few days after 9-11, ,especially when helicopters would be up... but all in all, is it going to make your dying any easier?

They are covering their arses. If something happens, they can say "look, we warned you", and if nothing happens they can say "due to the raised level of security, no terrorist attacks occurred".

They are still stinging from been caught out Sep 11.

I find it amazing that they no longer even need to justify there actions. They are able to keep people in a heightened level of fear. We are in orange alert now but pass another bill that lets us invade Syria and read all your emails, maybe we can put it down to green. Who knows how many succsefully suicide and car bombings have taking place in the US. I would not be suprised in the least of the goverment was and is supressing news storys of terrorisim.
