I Just Don't See It...
I was recently inspired by some comments I read, to ask all of you fine people to name celebrities (for ease of discussion) that everyone thinks are sooooooooo attractive, but you don't know what the hell they're talking about.
I'll start. Kirsten Dunst: she looks like she rollerblades and likes to stop herself with her face or something. She's not horrible to look at, but I definitely don't see why people find her attractive. PS - I did a search, and nothing came up. If this is a repeat, due process has been followed. ![]() |

Everything is a matter of perspective.
In most cases, I don't find the movie types to be attractive because they're too well done up - I like women to look real and a bit more raw - Kate Winslett was hot in Eternal Sunshine but that's as far as it goes with me..

I thought Kirsten Dunst was cute and attractive for some time now. But now that you mention it, she can look quite ugly time to time. She gets that mousy piggy face. If you put 50 pounds on her, I think you get the sadistic concentration camp guard in the movie "Seven Beauties" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075040/
One person I find particularly unattractive is Sarah Jessica Parker. I just don't get it. She is quite scary looking. On the men's side, I just don't get what Colin Farrell is all about. His face is perfectly ordinary. |

Lol. Nice one suave. Heh
Ya, to use the old cliche, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" Having said that, in my opinion, Cameron Diaz looks really good sometime, but looks equally bad other times. It's kind of weird. Anybody think so too? |

Everyone has good and bad moments. One of our biggest sources for celebrity looks is in photos. Who out there hasn't seen at least 10 pictures of themselves which they thought made them look bad? I know I have seen way more than that of myself. Despite those photos, I don't think I'm a bad looking person. So many factors go in to how those pictures turn out that I don't thing they are a good basis for judgement. The only true way to find beauty is to actually have the opportunity to spend time with that person.

I'll second greedy75, we all have our bad moments on film. However, there are some celebrities that make me cringe when I see them. Numero uno for me is Juliette Lewis. She has got the highest, widest forehead I've ever seen, as well as a weird nose and nondescript lips. I like her as an actress in some things (namely "natural born killers") but looking at her makes me shiver and think "ewww". Ditto Jennifer Garner, the high forehead thing.
Christina Ricci also bugs me. She's cute taken as a whole, but I can't see beyond her extreme heart shaped face and wide apart eyes. I can't stand celebrities with gummy smiles either (where their lips go up above the gum line when they laugh or smile), the exception being Meg Ryan, she's so damn cute I seem to overlook her gummy smile (as in "When Harry Met Sally"). I am by no means perfect but my feeling is that celebrities put themselves in the public eye and get paid ungodly amounts of money, so they are fair game to gossip or opinions by us "little people". I can't seem to think of any male celebrities, I don't know why as there are some I can't stand. Ali

Sarah Jessica Parker for me, I really don't understand why people look up to her as some sort of beauty and fashion queen. *shrug*

Okay, here goes... Angelina Jolie. As far as I'm concerned, there's more of her for the rest of you guys, because I'm not having any. Her lips, which I guess are supposed to be her best features, have always been a turn-off for me, ever since Hackers. Plus she just exudes a skankiness that I can't get past. I'll second Christina Ricci, she's aways going to be Wednesday Addams to me.

Johnny Depp, I don't understand at all. Leonardo DiCaprio? Nope, don't get that one either, he was a cute little kid, then well... he's an annoying adult. Goldie Hawn is another that bugs me, used to be cute, now she just seems so over processed.

Ok, this is going to sound weird considering I'm a guy, but I think Johnny Depp is hot. But then I like people who are on the fringe. Plus, I love the way he takes on movie roles that are completely over the top

My nomination, which I'm sure is nothing novel, is for those twins from Full House. In my opinion, they would make great spokesmodels for Double Mint, if Double Mint was made out of shit.

I don't understand the obsession either, and I find there are three general categories of mystifying celebrity attraction: the adolescent boy look (Kirsten Dunst, Mandy Moore, Jena Malone), the female female impersonator look (Pamela Anderson, Traci Bingham, and most other Playmates of the 90s), and the walking-skeleton look (any runway model from Eastern Europe).

george clooney: i never understand why hes the most eligible bachelor. he looks old and boring.
second the view on colin farrell: normally i like the bad boy type, but he just doesnt do it for me. his face is too short (kinda like a peking dog), and he looks not rugged but dirty to me. |

Colin Farrell. Yeesh, the eyebrow! I gues I like the type of badboy that's charming and cute and not some guy in desperate need of a eyebrow wax and lacks any sort of charm or looks.
Colin Firth... um... What?! I think it's the curls, actually, can't stand it... Justin Timberlake has the same problem, (although that's definitely not his only problem...) But I like Adrien Brody, I think he looks like a much cuter Ross (friends), don't know how that's supposed to help since I hated Ross, but anyway... The kiss at the Oscars was very cute. |

Beauty aint in the eye of the beholder for the most part, it's in the eye of the opinion former/media manipulator.
Who has time to make up their own minds as to what is attractive? *sigh*

Elisha Cuthbert! She's beautiful (radiant infact), absolutely stunning and she does have a brain of her own. She has excellent acting abilities, and she is an example of an actress who seems to have an holistic view to life. Elishe Cuthbert: one of the true beauties around.
