That thread where the psycho asssaulted the car got me curious:
How many of you Tilted people own or carry a GUN for emergencies like that? The inspiring thread was this: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=75161 |

I have two guns . . . (perhaps this should be under the Weapon thread?) I .22 caliber rifle and one 12 gauge shotgun, both are used for recreation and hunting.

I own a few firearms, and have a concealed weapons permit. I currently carry a Kel-Tec P11 9mm pistol with me almost everywhere I go. I don't go looking for trouble. I honestly hope I never have to draw it in defense of myself or my family. However I do shoot about 150 rounds of ammo a month, so that in the event I have to use my weapon, I am able to hit what I am shooting at and not hit any innocent bystanders who may be near my target. I also carry a cell phone to call for assistance, which I have done on a couple occasions when drawing my gun was not my best option.
...btw, yes had I been in that vehicle or even seen what was happening, I would have engaged that individual. |

I own a variety of firearms but I never just carry them with me. They are unlocked and taken out for a purpose like going to the range or hunting, etc.

Add me to the list of gun carriers. It goes everywhere I go. I also carry pepper spray and a cell phone for situations that demand a less lethal approach.

I'm not sure of the exact gun laws in Australia but I think that we need some pretty good reasons to have a gun licence, like we're farmers or something. They don't hand gun licences out like candy and unless you have a real good reason it's hard to get one.
So no, I don't have a gun (I have plenty of realistic toys from when I was a kid) and I wouldn't want a real gun in my house. |

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

No, no gun for me. Been to gun shows, own several books and have spent far too much of my life learning about them but never got around to owning one. Were I to carry one I would use it. And that would be bad. As it is the deadliest thing I wield is a mouse. But that only bruises egos.

Yes I own Colt 1991A stainless .45 caliber pistol. I do carry it on occasion in my truck in a holster with an extra magazine loaded with Federal Hydrashoks. I'm not registered to carry my hand gun concealed but next year when I save up for the class and the license fee I will be getting my license. Then I'll be looking into purchasing a pistol to carry all the time in my truck. I wonder if the local ranges accept credit cards for the CHL course? Maybe I should look into it this weekend. CHL stands for Conceald Handgun License in my neck of the woods. After watching that video I would want to shoot that guy myself. But when all is said and done I'd be found at fault of course.

I always have a gun handy, in the house and car, and on rare occasion carry one. I have a responsibilty to protect myself and my family. Having known many victims of crime, I have resolved not to be one.

Probably would never actually carry on me even though concealed hand guns are legal in Texas. I figure if I'm ever in a position where I NEED a gun on me I likely screwed up in a major way and I likely deserve whatever is coming to me. If I get anything it likely will be more from a historical standpoint like a lot of people collect old swords. I dearly want a 1911 Colt .45 handgun. An M1 Garrand, Mauser K98, M16, AR-15, and a Thompson sub machine gun. I REALLY want the Thompson I've always been almost in love with that gun. Guess I watched too many WW2 and Gangster movies as a kid. |

It is not particularly easy to get a gun here - there are few reasons why you would get one legally because most people don't need one. Sure, there are criminals here who have them, but by and large violent crime is not really a problem.

I sold all my weapons when the gov't instituted their ridiculous firearms registry and accompanying bullshit laws. Because I work in a law enforcement branch of the federal government, I felt it would be hypocritical to not comply with the law, but I refused on moral grounds to do so, and so I was left with little choice.
Since that time, I've decided to shelve my morality in favour of home defense, and have begun acquiring weapons again in compliance with the ridiculous bullshit laws. Too many crazies, both domestic and foreign, not to be well armed. *EDIT - Although that doesn't mean I'm in favour of legal carry for Joe Citizen. The Yankees have pretty much proven the point that the more guns there are floating around, the more people get killed. /EDIT I hope the only thing I ever have to point my rifle at has four legs.

I'm from Sweden. Guns are highly regulated. Getting one isn't a picnic and the Swedish Police fire less than 10 bullets every year. Every shooting (by the police) is investigated.
On the subject of owning a gun, for example 9mm, you need to be a member of a shooting club. You start with the smallest bullets and need alot of experiance and shooting test to move upp to a bigger bullet. Getting a permit to own a 9mm gun takes a lot of time. Carrying on you? Forget about it! Personally I would be scared shitless of getting in a fierce discussion in the US. Either they can sue your or they can pull a concieled gun! Quote:

Don't have one, find it a little unsettling to see how many people feel the need to carry one - I live in acountry where it's not a common practice to carry one and I hope it stays that way, in fact I see no reason, except for the armed forces, to make them

I used to have two shotguns for hunting, but I currently don't have any only because I have small children in the house and it's a risk I'm not willing to take with my kids. Once they are older, I will probably buy a handgun for practice at the range.

I do not own a gun for the saftey of others. I have a problem with rage. If I owned, or had access to a firearm many people would be burried in my back yard right now.
I have no problem with guns though. One day I would like to get a nice hunting rifle. I really want some fresh deer meat. |

I do not own a gun, nor do I intend on ever doing so. I instead carry two things with me at all times. A four-inch bladed folding knife and a butane lighter. If I shot someone I would get shot within a week. Now you cut someone's achilles tendon and set em on fire, people tend to avoid trying getting back at ya. If someone pulls a gun on me and doesn't kill/cripple me with thier first shot they won't live to see another day, AND they would die VERY painfully, Joan of Arc style.
