aoLhaTer 05-19-2003 07:58 PM

MSD 05-19-2003 08:25 PM

I swear there was another thread about this.

Now I can't find it.

I have seen this message at least a thousand times. It's a javascript that spits your IP back at you with a pre-written form. Nothing is recorded, they'd lose more money prosecuting than they do to piracy. In other words, don't pack up and run to Mexico, they just like scaring kids who are looking for free porn.

HeAtHeN 05-19-2003 08:40 PM

Agreed.... its a script that scares you into either paying up (which is what they want) or pissing off.

Works then!!

:D

krwlz 05-20-2003 07:26 AM

Be afraid, Be evry Afraid....actually just view your tities here...

rockogre 05-20-2003 09:12 AM

Just change your name, move to a new town, dye your hair, grow a beard, wear glasses, establish a new identity.

Think about this. It's not worth a call to their lawyer to do anything about you. At a $100 and hour they would lose the C note just for the call. Also, how many thousand folks try this stuff every month?

Plus what can they potentionally get out of it? $20? $30? People who make references to crappy "isps" crack me up.

WhoaitsZ 05-20-2003 09:46 AM

do what ogre said. and get a sex change.

Glory's Sun 05-20-2003 10:01 AM

they're just trying to scare ya out of some cash..don't worry about it..

Lebell 05-20-2003 10:11 AM

lol, no

They can log your IP but so what? This is just a scare tactic.

Thats not even close to spam. It is called ressurecting an ancient thread that is some what interesting and I would like to make a post too...

Haha... too funny. That'll teach those damn kids.

Peryn 01-30-2004 01:49 PM

they can log your IP. they could even prosecute it if they wanted...but how do they know WHO went there? blame it on a little neighbor kid or something...they've got no way (that i know of) to prove who was the actualy offender. But yeah..they wont, and probably didn't, do anything.

absence_of_color 01-30-2004 02:25 PM

As old as this post is, maybe we should just look up AOL, and ask him what happenned?

zer010gic 01-30-2004 04:18 PM

I work for a ISP trust me your safe. It would be dumb of them to even try and if they did they probably do not have enough proof to get you. Plus most ISP's would not turn over your personal info to a porn site. Its all a bunch of BS dont worry.

Like it was said above, it costs too much to pursue legal action. What they do record; however, is where you may have been referred from, so as to ensure they are spending their advertising money effectively...

REALLY?? You mean with child pornography and rape and murder and virus writers and hackers and digital theft and identity crimes, etc... they're going to chase people for trying to download a couple of boobie pics? When you realize that 9/10 of people they would catch would be underage and therefore, not accountable, you realize it just wouldn't ever come to that.

I love having a dynamic IP, get an IP banned from a site for using an expired pass *disconnect, reconnect* and the I get to try another... Turbo does that make me a bad person ?

Rookie status is like a monkey on your back, you will do anything to get the bastard off of you.

wry1 01-31-2004 01:41 AM

Hey, the FBI couldn't find D.B. Cooper, and they were following his plane!

So don't worry about 'em.

World's King 01-31-2004 02:11 AM

I've happened upon this this three times now in as many months...

I'm still alive, kickin' and looking at free porn.

Don't worry.
