I'm very punctual. I can't remember a time I have been late to work. In fact I usually show up a little bit early. If I have something scheduled for a certain time then I make sure I show up when I say I am going to.

As for me, I'm usually 5 to 10 mintues late to most anything. I've gotten a lot better about that for class starting this past summer, trying to get there about 10 minutes before class started, but I still struggle mightily with other things, including work here in the computer labs on campus. I've been getting better but in general I just underestimate how long it takes to get there. For instance, I can guage real well how long it takes to get to the building, but then going in and going to a different floor, logging onto the computer station, and then doing the time clock thing on the computer all take time I don't really plan for. And I hate hate hate hate hate waking up in the morning. I don't mind staying up late but I have to start setting my alarm clocks an hour and a half before I need to get up and then I keep moving it back 15 minutes at a time before I finally wake up. I'm sure with a more real, standard job I could adapt as necessary, but when things aren't exactly strict or important to be on time to the minute right now, it makes it hard for me to push myself. |
I to have the military background. It is still up @ 5 Am for me. Go for a run, shower, shave, dress. Normally I show up to work an hour before anyone gets there. I normally am very punctual for everything. The only thing I can recall being late for was my daughters birth 7 years ago. But I was there for the other three.

I'm nearly 45 minutes early for school, and typically fifteen minutes early to work, even though it takes about three minutes to get there.
Yeah, I am definitely punctual. |
My previous jobs I was always early for, but with my present job, I sometimes show up after the office is open. I can't say I'm late, because I am salary, and I might have worked about 4 hours the previous evening. I wonder in anytime from 7:30 to 10AM, and the office opens at 8:30 AM. Some mornings I may sit down at the computer at home, get an idea, whether it is a memo to my staff, my affiliated agencies, or a flyer or work related idea, and so then I do it, fire it off to the person it was intended for, and then make my way to work. It also helps that I am the boss...

I normally get to work at around 6:40 am (well ahead of anyone else), so I guess I'd say I was punctual.

I usually get to work a couple of minutes late. Its like an unwritten rule that you are supposed to be there at 7:30, but no work really starts until 8.

I used to be early all the time, better to get there and get started than to have to stay late to finish or not complete a project I thought. Now at my job there is actually very little work to do. About twenty minutes work a day on many days and I can be done. In fact unless work picks up dramatically I expect lay-offs. As it is if I got to work on time driving throught rush hour it would take an hour or a little more to drive in. If I wait and plan to arrive forty-five minutes late or so my drive can be as little as thirty five minutes. A lot less traffic and lot less stress. Since I have nothing to do but sit on the internet and post on TFP I tend to do the late thing. My boss doesn't mind because he knows he can count on me if we do actually get busy. I'm also on a salary so I get paid the same whatever hours I work.

People have to be at work at a set time? Whats that about?!?

as far as work is concerned, i don't necessarily think being at work on time is that big of a deal. as long as you work hard and get the job done when it is supposed to, then i see no problem showing up a little late. |
My work day is 8:15-5:00. I'm always in around 8:00. But God forbid if I clock out at 4:57 every day for a week. Taken right out of my paycheck.

In a similar vein Dad taught me that the secret to success in this world is that you must work a half a day. It really doesn't matter which 12 hours you work but about a half day's effort is what it will take. :) Dad's a smart guy. There is always something that needs to be done. If you think you're finished then you're not looking at the right plan. Now get busy... |
I look at it like this...if I am there before the boss (who is often late) then I am on time!!!

I'm pretty bad about being on time. In my old job (which I hated going to), I would leave at the last possible moment, and any sort of traffic would cause me to be late. If I was on time it was never by more than a minute. Classes I am the same way with, maybe worse. I walk into my night classes 5 minutes late every day, but nobody says anything to me so I've never had the motivation to change the habit, even if I know it's bad.
I am always early to things that are very important to me though. |
