I live in the neighborhood that I grew up in and of course, went trick or treating in. I remember how exciting it was me and love sharing that with my two boys. I notice each year there is a very big difference in the number of houses that participate now compared to when I was young. It stinks that so many people who are home just turn their lights off. Even before I had kids of my own, I gave out candy. Why is it that so many people are so self absorbed that they can’t give out a little candy to make the kids happy like people I’m sure did for them? Cheap jerkoffs!
I do however; agree that the kids/teenagers that are not in costume should not get candy, which is why I keep a bag of cheap bubble gum for them. I don’t punish everyone because of a few. We have a lot of really cute kids in our area and it’s a lot of fun to see them all dressed up. |
I noticed a few folks expressing a "damn those kids" reaction, so I wanted to play Devil's advocate here.
As I mentioned yesterday, we only had three trick-or-treaters all evening. We currently live in my wife's childhood home and there's an elementary school located straight across our back yard; we KNOW there are kids in our neighborhood. However, after talking to one of our neighbors yesterday, she expressed a sort of hidden glee that they had zero trick-or-treaters. She noted that we were the only house on the street with our porch light on and decorations on the porch, so it wasn't surprising to her that we only had three trick-or-treaters. She confirmed that we were the ONLY house on the street to have any trick-or-treaters at all. Please understand that these are the same people who used to send out their kids on Halloween all those years ago, but they now take pride in scoring zero trick-or-treaters. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; if you want to be a bitter old person, then you'll get exactly what you wish for. Damn old farts. |
I hate my street. You see its pretty busy, and i don't think parents let their kids trick-or-treat here. I can count on one hand how many kid's I've had over the past 3 years....

My son and I hung out at my moms in a large subdivision, while my ex took out teh 3 younger ones.. We did a head count and came up with 222 kids. My 11 yr old son countd for a while, and I'm pretty positive he missed about 30 or more kids.. so overall a rather good turnout..

Where I live, its mostly Koreans, Russians, Pakistanis, Indians, etc. There are tons of kids too.
We didn't get 1 kid. It was ridiculous. |

no kiddies in costume for me. went and bought the candy, waited by the door but nobody came. Went outside after the treating hour was over and realized my outdoor lights were off. DOH! Oh well I love candy.

Sour Starburst are now on sale. My mom picked me up a bag today and I immediately began binging them. I've already eaten half :| At least a week before Halloween my mom purchased a bag of Sour Punch Candy Straws...like the Starburst I opened them immediately and ate nearly the whole bag in one sitting :| I love sour fruity chewy shit :|

they came in droves...gave 2-4 out to each kid (depending on candy size)... after hours of obsessive doorbell ringing, 12 year old boys stareing at my cleavage and 10 year olds replying to "take 2 big pieces or 4 little ones" with whos going to stop me...i had maybe 3 left..next year ill open teh door with a shot gun. |
