So I voted today
For Kerry of course. If you don't want to wait in line next week, cast an absentee balot! Tomorrow by 5pm is the last day to request an absentee balot.
|
good job on getting out to vote. i also did early voting and it was a breeze, although, i voted for Bush!
GET OUT AND VOTE PEOPLE OF AMERICA! |
I voted, too. Not absentee though, went to a voting booth, but no line. Didn't want to deal with the crowd on Tuesday.
|
Did the absentee ballot last week, for Kerry. Didn't vote in 2000 election due to my youthful apathy... NEVER AGAIN!
VOTEVOTEVOTEVOTEVOTE !!! |

I'm a little too young to vote yet but just to piss the super activist people off whenever they try to badger you into voting I simply say, "I actually think I'm abstaning this year."
Priceless. |

Btw, I like how your profile says you're 25. |

Of course, in Ohio people have to be smart enough to notice that he's NOT #12, where the arrow points :( |
Voted by absentee ballot, but I'm not in a swing state, so my vote for Bush probably won't be counted. But at least I voted :)
|
voted as soon as the the circut clerk sent the absentee.... 'nother 1 for bush...
|
ps i live in IL and and the bardnarik dude wasnt on my ballot... only dem and gop
|
According to an article I've read, it all comes down to the Redskins game on the 31st.
I gotta find it again, but it said that since 1936, the Redskins game has predicted the President (game before election.) If they win, the incumbent wins, if they lose, the other guy gets in, something like that. Edit: Didn't vote cause I'm technically not living in this state and can't really register. Trip home is no go either. |

Just filled out my absentee ballot this morning. There were an assload of people listed on the FL ballot for Prez. But Bush is the only one for me. :icare:
|
Thats kind of an interesting ballot. The way its laid out, it looks as though some people might think Kerry & Edwards were disqualified!
GET READY FOR ANOTHER STOLEN ELECTION, AMERICA! |
wow what a confusing ballot. all i had to do was fill in the circle next to the name. guess you guys don't have much for the green party candidate (david cobb) or nader going on. peroutka is constitution party. i think they want to repeal the 17th amendment?
and here you can get an absentee until nov 1. early voting is cool. you don't get ambushed by something that you weren't informed on. |
I bow down to all of you who have voted already.
I sent back my absentee ballot last week. |
Im SO glad we are electronic now......I hated those stupid punchy ballots

In Canada's federal election, we had upto some 6 cirlces with the name right next to it. Just simple as that. It looks to be that it's pretty fucking confusing... |

OT: We actually don't vote for a prime minister directly - we vote for a local candidate, and the party with enough candidates voted in form government, who then choose a leader (though this is known before hand, and a choice would only need to be made if that person failed in his local electorate). And we number our candidates, as we work on a two-party preferred system (which means the the lowest voted for candidate is eliminated and those who voted for him count next to their second preference, until only 2 are left - the two preferred parties :)) - plus voting is compulsory over the age of 18. /OT |
Your system is similar to ours, except our vote is non transferrable. If your MP (is that what you call the person who stands for your constituency (local area)?) gets the most votes in your constituency, he/she gets a seat in the parliament. As soon as a party gets the majority (more than 50% of the seats in the parliament) they are the government, and their leader is the prime minister. If no party has a majority (45%, 45%, 10%) then a coalition will be formed between two parties to make a majority. The party who comes second forms Her Majesty's Opposition. All other MPs not in the government or the opposition sit around somewhere and still get to debate/vote on issues when they want.
That's it in a nutshell, like all things to do with British politics it's really much more complex than it looks. |
Many ballots in the US are quite simple as well. Some states, however, are clearly not as inteligent when it comes to designing their ballots.
|
I'm waiting to vote the day of. I can go anytime during the day and can miss the longer lines around lunchtime and after 3:00 and 5:00.
Funny thing is I'm registered in two places in my state. Discovered that when my Mom saw my name on the list where she votes. When I changed locations I filled out the forms to cancel my registration in the old location but apparently it didn't take. I have moved since I first voted there to the southern part of the state, voted there for Bush and now I've moved back to the same district in the same town where I started out. Will be voting there this year for Bush. |
I'm proud to say I'm not voting.
