post three negative things about your city

toronto

1) Has North America’s (or was it the worlds) busiest hwy (hwy 401)
2) This hwy also has the most accidents in North America (or was it the world)- try getting on time for school or work driving on the Hwy 401....you have to see leave like 2+hours ahead of time sometimes
3) The price for houses is so expensive and if you are interested in new houses be prepared to see the smallest rooms

that’s all I can think of right now

mmiller0617 10-21-2004 12:52 PM

Washington, DC

1) Politicians
2) Politicians
3) Hmm, let's see, Politicians.

Irishsean 10-21-2004 12:53 PM

1. Its in Utah.
2. Any alcohol higher than 3.2% must be bought from a state owned store only open 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
3. Everything closes at 8pm.

maleficent 10-21-2004 12:57 PM

a small town in northern new jersey
1. corrupt politicians who get rid of 1/2 the police force because there's no money in the budget, but give themselves nice raises.
2. people who have lived in this town since they were babies, in the same house and while liviing 20 minutes from NYC have never ventured into that place because it's scary.
3. Way way too much section 8 housing.

Toshuno 10-21-2004 12:57 PM

Dundee

1. Neds ( on every corner with their stupid caps, and their stupid tracksuits, and their stupid "oi mate, insert random harassing comment here )
2. The Council
3. The ..... well due to lack of a 3rd, the neds again.

Lockjaw 10-21-2004 01:02 PM

Dallas

1) The traffic is ridiculous at all times of the day and night there's a traffic jam for no reason, and most of the people can't drive.

2) The urban sprawl. Dallas/Fort Worth area extends from the far east tips to the far west for about 70 or so miles including the major suburbs and it's still spreading. It's moving out North so far that 45 miles outside of downtown Dallas you can still consider yourself in the Dallas area. I'm soon expecting "Dallas" to stop just on the other side of the Oklahoma border.

3) The politicians act like a bunch of children. I mean seriously. Name calling and fisticuffs aren't uncommon.

oblar 10-21-2004 01:04 PM

Columbia

1. no alcohol can be bought on sunday
2. no items of a non-food variety can be bought from 00:01 saturday till 13:30 sun

Ace_O_Spades 10-21-2004 01:04 PM

Burnaby

1) Lack of southwest thouroughfare... I don't know how they overlooked THAT
2) ...
3) ...

Really, that's all i got... I love Burnaby, I never want to leave

Rdr4evr 10-21-2004 01:06 PM

1) Traffic( I actually drive what was rated as the worst traffic in America several days a week)
2) Horrible weather
3) Very dirty

EDIT: I read some other posts and decided I hate these three things more.

stonegrody 10-21-2004 01:06 PM

I'll write mine about the Bay area in general:

1. Cost of Living
2. Traffic 24/7
3. Hmm...the first two about sum it up. Otherwise, I love it here :D

Bel Air (Not CA)

1) House prices have increased so much that my house value is double what it was 3 years ago. Good until you want to buy another house.

2) Police are so bored that they harass the crap out of everyone for the stupidest stuff.

3) Traffic stinks because there was no planning in the city's growth.

San Francisco (in no particular order)

- Residual superficial Dotcomers
- Bleeding heart liberals pissing away my tax dollars
- Cyclists who think they're pedestrians, and drivers who can't tell the difference.

skibum 10-21-2004 02:24 PM

Denver:

1. Too many out of staters move here
2. On the weekends I-70 is a parking lot
3. Cost of living because of all the damn out of staters (mostly texans) who won't go home.

2. Reds/Bengals - if that doesn't suck ass I don't know what does :D
3. Did I mention the Reds/Bengals?

PulpMind 10-21-2004 03:18 PM

noone's done Seattle yet, so here goes:

1) Traffic & Drivers themselves . high influx of people from all over the world (& different driving styles) coupled with a poorly constructed city on impossible terrain, and BAM, traffic jams in 3/4th of the city, 12 hours a day. plus i swear there's more 50+ y/o asian women on the road here than in the rest of the US combined.

2) Rain. 9 months out of the year. if you like the rain, then maybe the 3 months of drought are bad for you.

3) People. Shallow, nice in a horribly fake way, passive agressive. I've lived here for 6 years and havn't maintained a true friendship with anyone for more than a year or two (meanwhile, everyone I know has strong friendships with people who do not live in seattle, myself inculded).

I hate this town.

docbungle 10-21-2004 03:18 PM

Denver

1. Freeways are horribly congested at unpredictable times.
2. "LoDo" is really trendy but not actually as cool as it should be.
3. Fanatical Broncos fans.

K-Wise 10-21-2004 03:20 PM

Knippa

1. It has nothing
2. The next nearest town also has nothing
3. I haven't seen 1 girl who even LOOKS close to my age since I moved here.

Too bad you only said 3.

Asta!!

Suave 10-21-2004 03:23 PM

Calgary:

1) transit system could definitely use some improvement (buses and train don't run late enough for one)
2) some of the streets outside of the downtown core are really messed up, thanks to bad city planning
3) most of our economy is based on the oil and gas industry

Rlyss 10-21-2004 03:58 PM

Melbourne:

1- Hook turns in the city. (If you want to turn right at an intersection, you get in the left lane, wait to the far left of the intersection, wait until your light turns red, and then turn right across four lanes and two tram tracks.)

2- 99% of the city is just offices, there are only a few main streets of shops and interesting stuff.

3- We have 'dynamic' speed signs in some areas, where it changes between 40kph and 60kph depending on the time of day, and some side streets are 40kph, some are 50kph, and half aren't signposted. You spend more time staring at your speed than on the road.

Knoxville
- Traffic/Construction: They've been working on the same stretch of interstate (I-40) for 5 years, and the current plan is to continue working on it for the next 5 years.

- Vols: During the football season, over 100,000 pricks get together and get drunk every gameday (let's just say I stay away from that part of town on those days).

- Parking on campus: You know there is a problem when the University of Tennessee at Knoxville has part of its BUDGET 1,000,000+ parking tickets being handed out.

Hello! Try living in any part of California. Some times you won't hear English for days.....

guthmund 10-21-2004 04:37 PM

1- It's in Arkansas.
2- "Progress" is on the verge of turning a picturesque town near the lake into your everyday run of the mill "homogezone."
3- Everything seems to shut down on Sunday, except Wal-Mart.

pan6467 10-21-2004 04:42 PM

Akron/Canton (2 different cities always labelled together though.

1) Extreme high unemployment nearly 25% with more layoffs coming
2) Extremely suckass job market (temp services are about all there is and they offer $8 max and have their pick of workers.)
3) I don't have the money to buy land and houses right now and take advantage of the low market prices.

Fremen 10-21-2004 04:48 PM

Jacksonville

Umm, something bad......
Well, we don't have dsl yet.
High rental prices.
...

That's about it.

10-21-2004 05:46 PM

Oh, that's easy.......

Puyallup (mainly s. hill)
1. city leaders suck- they are republican power-trippers
2. It's a Bellevue-wannabe town (Bellevue is a snobby wealthy area close to Seattle)
3. Traffic on Meridian St. is just as bad if not worse than the freeway

.......I could go on...........

Ramega 10-21-2004 06:12 PM

Atlanta:

1. There's no water. Well there's a crummy little river and some lakes not too far away, but no real big river or coast.
2. There's nothing for visitors to do. Seriously. Go to Atlanta sometime and ask people what you should do.
3. It's effing hot in the summer and effing cold in the winter. I might as well move further south.

But I do like it here. :)

runtuff 10-21-2004 06:16 PM

Boston:
1) Traffic
2) Bad drivers
3) narrow winding streets

Tophat665 10-21-2004 07:12 PM

2) Republicans/People who want to pay no taxes, but bitch about poor services (Not the same people everywhere, but definitely in Fairfax)
3) Suburbs are the infrastructure equivalent of a scab.

That is becuase the whole state of massachusetts is home to some of the worst drivers in the world. Which make some of us the best drivers for having to deal with them. I love it how roads in Mass are crappy, until you get to that state line, then all of a sudden they turn GREAT.

Im really not complaining though.

At least where I live in MA
East Brookfield

1)NOBODY knows where it is, not even the people three towns ovah.
2)There is nothing here.
3)When you want to do something cool you have to drive 35 minutes to the center of Worcester.

lol I was just about to post that exact same thing about Texas. When I visit my family in Alabama and in Georgia they go on and on about how many people speak just Spanish. But I have yet to see any evidence of this for myself compared to home. I mean you don't live in an area with a lot of Spanish speakers unless most of the fast food joints have their entire menus in spanish and in English(with Spanish being the predominate language). Or grocery stores adding entire aisles of "ethnic" goods. I remember when that stuff used to be confined into a tiny little shelf in the bread aisle now every store I go into has at least ONE aisle full of the stuff. But I'm not complaining because I kind of enjoy all the latin women...
