Caught a little frog in my pool. Will it be alright if I set him free?
Hi. I just caught a little frog swimming in our freezing pool. All his other little frogy/toady friends are off sleeping underground for the winter. I live in TN so it's just getting cold right now. Will this little guy be alright if I set him free? I wonder if something disturbed him from his slumber or if it's normal to see a frog hoping around in the fall/winter.

Keep him as a pet.

That would be a death sentence...besides...I've already packed my aquarium...we're moving to s msaller house...
|
eat him... or give him to a pet as a toy

Try and give him somewhere shallow like a dish to swim in, but make sure he has a rock to sit on I guess. Put the dish under a bush. Hope he gets on ok.
Oh and good luck with the move. |
Cut his legs off, add a little egg and breadcrumbs, and dig in!
Delicious! |
If you're worried about his health and wellbeing, why did you catch him in the first place?
Kudos for you for asking though. Ignore the sarcastic comments. Just set him free near to where you caught him. Mr Mephisto |
Hey, recipes aren't sarcastic!

I suspect that you found a toad in your swimming pool. As to why you caught it, a toad will drown if it can't get back out of the pool.
(You saved the little criter's life) I don't know which end of Tennessee you are in, but unless you are in the mountains, you haven't had a freeze yet. Your toad buddy will be just fine as long as he stays out of your pool. Besides, it's not going to get good and cold until after Christmas, although the forecast for Tennessee is wetter and colder than normal. |

Turn him loose where you got him from and let nature take care of the rest. After all these billions of years, she has a handle on how best to work these things.
