I don't understand how you can be of age in a country and not know who your head of state is.

I can't even put my disappointment into words

We had to do a whole project on Canada when I was in 5th grade because my teacher was a draft dodger who moved there during the Vietnam War. He had nothing but good things to say about Canada.

I loved that PS picture of the polar bear on your car, BTW. That was a nice touch to your story. I haven't ever heard of the whole polar bear hunting legend. I suppose it's like snipe hunting here in the south/midwest area. I've never known anyone from Canada, but if I meet one I'm going to ask about that!

As a Canadian myself it's not too hard to pick out that you're one yourself with a nick like Grace, Too. Well I suppose it could have been possible that you were from somewhere else and just had good taste in music.

All I can say - and what's important to me - is that every time I've been in Canada, I've felt a very friendly camaraderie there. Nice folks up north, IMO.

Today I recieved an email from a guy in Arizona asking me if I would ship his the skin of the polar bear I killed so that he can make a rug from it. I emailed him back asking if he was serious and he said that he would pay shipping..... LOL.

I think Canada should move. We need the parking!

Canada is a great place and Candians make fine neighbors. I worked in Detroit for two and half years (Dearboring actually) and the best thing about Detroit was it's proximity to Canada. No....not just for the "Windsor Ballet" either. The Windsor Ballet is the colloquialism for nudie bars, strip joints, titty bars, etc. Those were fine indeed and the talent level was exceptional but I digress. Canada's proximity to Detroit and specifically Windsor gave us a place where we could go out in the evening and feel completely free of the travel related anxiety you get when you visit down town Detroit after dark. People in Windsor are warm and friendly. The restaurants there are great. There is a fabulous little Irish pub there -- Ryan's Irish Pub. The exchange rate made it all the better! At the time I'd spend $40 Canadain on dinner and Murphy's Red at the pub and at the exchange rate ajusted cost of $24 US -- WHAT A BARGAIN!

Seriously though Canada... about that parking thing...get the lights on your way out!

CRX, that thread was awesome... Ahh brings back memories of when I told Americans that I had the "one internet connection in the village" and that the "elders needed the computer" while playing an online game.... And they bought it.

And you know, not all Canadians are nice people -- We have our share of dickheads as well. But I could say the same nice things about Americans, I've met several nice American guys and girls on vacation in foreign (i.e. not United States or Canada) countries.

I know that it's getting to be a tired cliché, but it's till true:

The Canadian school children still can't locate the capital of Greenland on a map!
