A woman accused of fighting with officers and kicking out a patrol car window after being stopped on suspicion of drunk driving on Interstate 90 with two children in the vehicle was charged Monday in Justice Court.

Lori Shuart Stratford, 43, of Bozeman, was charged with two counts of felony criminal endangerment, felony assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor charges of DUI and criminal mischief. Judge Larry Herman ordered Stratford held in the county jail on $25,000 bond and ordered her to appear Monday for arraignment in District Court.

According to court records, several motorists called police Sunday to report a white Suburban driving erratically in the eastbound lanes of the interstate through Billings. A short time later, a Yellowstone County sheriff's deputy spotted the Suburban weaving on South Frontage Road west of the Shiloh overpass.

The deputy stopped the Suburban and saw two children and two large dogs in the rear seats. The female driver smelled of alcohol and admitted she had been drinking, the deputy said. The children, ages 7 and 9, told another deputy that their mother had picked them up at their father's house in Cody, Wyo. While the deputy spoke with the children, the woman dropped her pants and urinated next to the Suburban, court records state.

The woman told a deputy that she believed she was in Bozeman, and a short time later threatened a deputy with a tennis racket while screaming to have the emergency patrol lights turned off. During a struggle, the woman kicked a deputy in the groin before she was subdued. Placed in the back seat of a patrol car, the woman shattered a window of the car by kicking at the glass, court records said.

Gotta give the deputy credits for being able to cuff her after being kicked in the jimmy

Questions:
(A) Was she drunk when she picked up her offspring from her ex's house? If so, why did he let them go with her? If not, where did she stop to get drunk, and where were the little tykes, at the time?
(B) What, oh what, do I wonder, are the odds that "Dad" will now get sole custody of the kids. Alas, still probably slim to none.

Spare a thought for the poor kids. What hope have they got with parents like that to set them a good example?

Just a hunch but the kids probably wouldn't be much better off with the dad. Too bad the government can't make people get a license to breed. It just makes too much sense.

Why the label: "SOCCER MOM"?

It seems this is the new bugaboo label that people use to descibe any woman with kids and a big car when I see nothing wrong with being a "soccer mom".

(Did your mom love you enough to run your ass to all your sports/school events?)

Yes and no. It's called "liquid courage". No balls involved here. Just lowered her in the eyes of the officers. Not a good way to get out without a lot of fines and other charges. She played this totally wrong.

I'm so sorry for those kids. Can you imagine the fear they had? My daughter who is 4 complains if I go around a corner too fast or stop quickly. They had to be aware of the erratic driving to a point. And then to have their mom screaming, thrown into a police car and carted off to jail... What a role model. I truely hope that she doesn't get to "parent" her kids ever again.

That bitch should be locked up for as long as possible. She should also lose custody of her children. She doesn't deserve them. Driving drunk is NEVER acceptable, let alone with your children in the back!! I'd like five minutes with her... I'd make it physically impossible for her to drive ever again.
