Puppy shoots man - who tried to shoot him!

How bizarre... Too bad the puppy didn't have better aim.

PENSACOLA, Florida (AP) -- Nice shootin', Rex!

A man who tried to shoot seven puppies was shot himself when one of the dogs put its paw on the revolver's trigger.

Jerry Allen Bradford, 37, was charged with felony animal cruelty, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. He was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound to his wrist.

Bradford said he decided to shoot the 3-month-old shepherd-mix dogs in the head because he couldn't find them a home, according to the sheriff's office.

On Monday, Bradford was holding two puppies -- one in his arms and another in his left hand -- when the dog in his hand wiggled and put its paw on the trigger of the .38-caliber revolver. The gun then discharged, the sheriff's report said.

Deputies found three of the puppies in a shallow grave outside Bradford's home, said sheriff's Sgt. Ted Roy.

The other four appeared to be in good health and were taken by Escambia County Animal Control, which planned to make them available for adoption.

Incredible stuff... I think lesson this teaches us is not to hold two puppies and a gun at the same time. The guy could have just given the puppies to the pound instead of trying to shoot them.

thats (some thing religious coming up) a work of god.. weather you believe in him or not..

its amazing it seems like the dog ment to do it to and attract someone or something..

i dont think we give animals enough credit... they really are smart..

It's a touching story and all, and as an animal lover I have to applaud the outcome, but, c'mon, a work of god? Sounds more like a coincidence made possible by the stupidity of a person who tries to juggle a gun and two puppies at the same time.

Bill O'Rights 09-09-2004 06:58 AM

WTF was this asswipe thinking? Couldn't he just as easily have taken the puppies to the shelter himself? Or was that just too much trouble? Too bad it wasn't his shooting hand that was wounded. That might keep him from being able to pick up another gun, and pulling something like this again.

This is what comes from putting warning labels on screwdrivers..."Do Not Poke In Eye". Too many people still in the soup carrying the moron gene.

bigoldalphamale 09-09-2004 06:59 AM

HA!!!! that makes me chuckle.

sailor 09-09-2004 07:00 AM

Poetic justice at its finest.

And I think the guy was almost elligible for a Darwin award.

maleficent 09-09-2004 07:08 AM

Too bad the other pups couldn't have been saved...

What a loser...

The Phenomenon 09-09-2004 07:10 AM

Thats pretty bizarre :P

He got what he deserved IMO.

Glory's Sun 09-09-2004 07:18 AM

morbidly funny .. or is it just me?

MageB420666 09-09-2004 08:30 AM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

He got what he deserved, although it should have taken his arm off instead of just hitting his wrist. I mean jeez what a moron, he could have just taken them to an animal shelter or given them away for free, just because you can't sell them doesn't mean you need to shoot them.

la petite moi 09-09-2004 08:33 AM

THOSE POOR PUPPIES! God, people are so cruel!

stonegrody 09-09-2004 09:17 AM

I heard the puppy pistol whipped the guy five times after he shot him. One for each of his brothers. Now that's vengeance, baby!

omega2K4 09-09-2004 09:30 AM

That dog is hardcore. I'd totally adopt that dog. He's a thug.

World's King 09-09-2004 09:31 AM

That's what he gets... Asshole.

Cadwiz 09-09-2004 10:00 AM

To bad the dog missed his head.

I'm guessing its the pup on the right. He looks badass.

They are so cute! I want one. Yay for puppies!

mb99usa 09-09-2004 10:16 AM

OK, we denounce the pit bull but praise the gun wielding mutt?

I'm totally against canine on human violence. Let's keep the violence within species guys. :D

Seriously though this guy got what he deserved.

redarrow 09-09-2004 11:46 AM

It's wrong to be shooting animals, but they probably would have ended up in a small crowded cage at the pound, then later put to sleep. Maybe the guy just wanted them to go out at home, not after a few weeks in a dirty pound.

inharmony 09-09-2004 12:25 PM

I'm sorry I'd rather 'go out' via needle than shot in the head any day. What an asshole, he got off easy! :P

Esoteric 09-09-2004 12:29 PM

He got what he deserved.

Fremen 09-09-2004 12:50 PM

"Hey pup, whar ya goin' with that there gun?"

"I'm a goin' ta kill the man what shot my paw!"

K-Wise 09-09-2004 01:14 PM

Asta!!

seriously, this country has become populated with numbskulls and nitwits who don't think their way through things, and this is what happens. man shot by puppy. if anyone deserved that fate, it was this guy.

i'm looking foward to more darwinism in action.

Now, I've been know to be pretty heartless at times, but come on-- how could anyone shoot anything so cute... jeesh - that's just so wrong...

punx1325 09-09-2004 02:22 PM

I'm glad to see when assholes get what they deserve, people like that should be drug out in the street and shot! It sickens me to know there are people out there that can hurt such loving animals.

Y2KDREAD 09-09-2004 03:42 PM

note to self, watch my back when the dog seems to be in a bad mood.

My sentiments exactly. You hit two birds with one stone here. Addressing the God issue and the stupidity of some humans in one sentence.

I hope everyone else caught this, that is comedy gold! I'm gonna be laughing about that all day :D Cheers!

fypon 09-09-2004 05:12 PM

To bad he didnt get shot in the nuts. That way this moron wouldn't be able to reproduce if he hasn't already.

Better luck next time little doggie!

MSD 09-09-2004 05:25 PM

I tried to post this 6 hours ago, but I guess it got lost in the server.

Why does this guy deserve to be shot when we wouldn't have given it a second thought, or even heard about it, if they had been brought to the pound and euthanized in two weeks? Do people who do that deserve to be stabbed with the needle they're using?

fypon 09-09-2004 07:17 PM

If you’re referring to my post.

It was more about being a moron way he went about it than the act itself.

He was nearly a Darwin award candidate!

basmoq 09-09-2004 08:00 PM

you'd have to be such an idiot to hold a gun and anything else
