The thread title seems to sum up my feelings about this guy. The world need less people like him. Freaky thing is, I was watching a documentary about racism on the History Channel the other week and I saw this guy spewing hatred bullcrap, I thought to myself, "I wish he'd die" and lo' behold, he died.

I have to agree with you whole heartedly. That fucker needed to die, I just wish it had been a painfully long and excrutiating death.

What a double standard. If this were a black panther leader, or someone from the ADL, everyone would be horribly upset. Its wrong for "whitey" to stand up for his race, but yet, when anyone else does it, its the right thing.
Just so you know, the last part, about the "southern poverty law center" is just a jewish group that had every intention of destroying the life of this man, and many others. I will be called a racist, and everything else for my response, but I can sum up my feelings on this in three simple words; Heritage not hate. I am proud of my heritage, and my culture. |

right then- we need to find his grave and deface it with a star of david- that should help even the old score a bit- seriously- my wifes mom was murdered by an aryan brotherhood member- in idaho- and all I can say is one down, many to go- these people are not about heritage or pride they are about the lowest kind of hate, and deserve much pain and suffering-

Pacifier, does he not have the right to believe that he is superior because of his race?
Because its clear that you think yourself superior to him simply because you do not subscribe to that. Just because you are not in agreement with him, does not make him any less of a human being with rights, and it does not make you right. Who are you to judge, when all you stand on is your own moral code that you subscribe to, just as he has? Everybody has equal rights. Even White supremacist assholes. |

There's a huge difference between being proud of one's heritage (hanging a tartan on your wall, celebrating Shakespeare) and insisting that your heritage is so superior to others' that you deserve special rights that they should not have. I can't believe you can even THINK of defending this person and his views. This man was not "standing up for his race," he was promoting the hatred of pretty much every other race. He was a fear monger, a hate monger, and a paragon of ignorance and mean spirit. The SPLC does a lot of good, and your identification of it as a "Jewish group" whose intention is to destroy lives speaks volumes for your paranoid mindset.
I disagree with you not because you are white, or because you are racist, but because you make no sense.

I don't believe anyone is saying that one shouldn't take pride in who they are (although why one should be *proud* to be something they didn't have a choice in is beyond me).
Rather, it is that some people actively don't like this particular man and the way he chose to express that "pride". As for myself, I am sad that any person could be so hate filled as this man apparently was.

As for me, I am torn between never wanting to wish death upon anyone, and realizing that this is one planet that didn't need a man like this in existence. When your extreme ideals are shared with others and these ideals, in turn, bring about death, pain and suffering onto other humans, you do not belong on this planet. Sure, you all have the right to believe what you want to. I am not arguing that. But when you have this much hate inside of you, this much intolerance for other races and cultures, then I can barely dredge up the energy to acknowledge your existence.

i don't remember who said this, some famous person (identify if you know, and can give the exact quote) but it went something like this..."i'll disagree with your opinion until death, but i'll also defend your right to have it until death." no, i don't mourn his passing, he may have deserved more, but this is the land of the free. i am not a racist, i don't even believe in the concept of "race", but based on constitutional rights he did what was legal and even encouraged in this country. we need less intolerance, and we need fewer people like Richard Butler, but just because he was wrong doesn't mean he didn't have a right to be.

I would wish him enlightened long before I would wish him dead.
And by the way, the comments I see in this thread are, in my opinion, demonstrative of the very best the internet has to offer: The internet has helped to break down walls, to bring people of different cultures and philosophies together. On the net, you can't judge a person by the color of their skin, but only by content. Even Stare At The Sun's race is a mystery. Sure, we could make a guess, but we don't know for sure, and so we have to judge by content. Over time, we get used to thinking of people in these terms. When getting to know someone, we get used to looking at ideas instead of the containers those ideas come in. And in getting to know these people from all over the world, we start to understand each other a little better. We start to see each other's value, each other's contribution, rather than each other's differences. "Tolerance" is bullshit. You tolerate someone who is chewing with their mouth open. You tolerate someone who is walking too slowly in front of you. You tolerate someone who has been looking at the menu for five minutes and won't freaking order. You don't "tolerate" someone's cultural differences. You ACCEPT their differences. You EMBRACE their differences. The internet, as evidenced by the posts on this board, is helping us do that. Long live the TFP!

It's nice that everyone can be PC about it, but this guy was the embodiment of hatred, his words and actions inspired hatred and brought about murders nad violence by others. If he was struggling to stay afloat in the ocean, I'd cut his arms off and hold his head underwater rather than help him back to shore. If he could have, he would have killed everyone who he thought was inferior. You can't enlighten someone like that, he deserved to die and it's a shame it happened so peacefully.

I'm certainly not sad that he has died but I'll save any feelings of hatred for people who are alive, although i hope i never have to hate anyone at all.
I've read the news, and the mentally processed it and didnt feel much (i never knew he existed before i read this thread, and now he doesnt exist, whats changed for me?). Now i can forget about it and use my brain for something more worthwhile like think about what i'm having for breakfast tomorrow. Hatred breeds hatred, even when its directed at dead people.
