Pet Mourning Thread
Rip my cat Hurricane.
After 11 years he's ultimately gone. Lost 75% use of his kidney's and he was slowly poisoning himself, paving the way to a slow and painful death. My family decided to do the more 'humane' thing and have him put to sleep. They're out there right now. Me and my sister didnt really want to see him take his last breath so we stayed home. Poor cat, i really wish i could just have found him dead one morning, having died peacefully in his sleep. Im going to miss him alot. |

Poor Kitty....
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown

Thought I'd be ok opening this thread, but that little tan puppy under the Rainbow looks almost exactly like my dog Sammy who died 3 years ago. He left a hole that doesn't really go away.

Damn, mal. That almost made me cry. Almost. At least it's allergy season, and I can blame the pollen.
shoe, I'm sorry man. Little in this life sucks worse than losing a pet.

Our first cat, Nochi, is now 8 years old and it hits me all the time that her life is at least half over. I love that little cat, and I'll be devastated when she goes. You have my sympathies, shoe.

No, don't be sorry. I'd seen you post the poem before, just sometimes out of the blue my mind forgets the realities of the present. That poem and its sentiments are sometimes the only way to deal with losing family. Thanks

Mal~ when you posted that in my journal about my dog dying I cried like a baby... Alfred couldn't figure out what had gotten into me...
In the past year I've lost three dogs (ex husband has one, one ran away, the other died recently), my kitty Miyagi (found him barely moving on the floor at the foot of the bed, had to have him put down), and a few other cats that just disappeared without trace. My pets are my children.

Lost my Schnauzer "Hattie LaBelle" a few years ago. She developed diabetes, and I gave her two insulin shots a day for two years, but she finally lost her sight. Found her wondering down the middle of a busy street, and had to have her put down...far better than having to go out and pick her up.
Sorry to hear about "Hurricane", sounds like he must have been a dandy. |

Sorry for you my friend.
Our kitty is special to all of us and has only been with us for a year. Anytime our daughter goes away to visit grandma for a couple days or something Catrina paces and pines for her. I just realized today that she's pretty much following the kids wherever they go. She lays under a chair or table close by and moves anytime they do. She's definately a part of the family.

Thats a shame, but making it to 7th grade was quite an accomplishment for it. Seriously, thats too bad. Doesn't much matter what kind of pet it is, always hard to loose one. |

My kitty Wuss has been missing for two weeks now. We don't know what happened to him, but I think it's better to think he got picked up or something. I don't really want to think he got hit by a car or attacked my some other animal Anyway, we're not gonna see him again. He was my favorite cat. He wouldn't only let me hold him and he'd bite everyone else... I'll miss him.
