Do you know your IQ?
http://www.highiqsociety.org/noflash...rs/iqtests.htm
I took the test on this site, and I scored 127 :( It gave me a load of junk that this was high enough to join their "high IQ" club, but well, yeah,,, it would be wouldnt it? I dont know much about them and what a standard score is, I think 127 probably below average, its pretty depressing! |
I don't take those tests. One I took said I had an IQ of 147, another one said I had one of 128, another one said 134. I know I'm relatively smart, that's all I care about. If I can make Dean's List at college every semester without caring then it has to be up there I guess :)

Bah. I've had everything from 120 to 150 on those damn things.
They're about as accurate as throwing darts at a board. |

me too... though I still like taking them. |
Never ever took one of those before, maybe tonight when I have more time I will do it and see what I get
|
1.5 million scoville units, I'm one hot pepper!
IQ tests are more, I think, of an indication of how well you reason in a specific environment, namely the test. I don't think it's a real world expectation of how well someone will be able to reason and extrapolate from given information. |

It's suspicious how everyone who takes these kinds of tests gets at least 110, although the real versions of the test say that half the population should be under 100 (by definition).
The "legitimite" IQ tests are meant to be delivered orally by a psychologist, and the responses are not multiple choice. A friend of mine who is a psychologist said that IQ tests are not reliable for testing intelligence, but tend to be an excellent way of diagnosing mental illnesses (the results aren't just a number). |

HAHAAHAHAHA very funny..but i better check the laws here..but i am sure its only for contests with prizes |
All I know is that I'm smarter then y'all.

Average is 100. Course this is an internet test and I ussually get between 140 and 190 on these bad boys. I took this one a while back and got somehting in the mid 130s. That was on the 'Ultimate' test, not the High IQ test. I lack the attention for that one.
|
I usually get a 5. All I can manage to do is sign my name and barely tie my shoe laces.
Seriously, I know I am resonably intelligent. There a quite a few people smarter than me and vice versa. I have no need for these tests to affirm what i already know. |
I do not know my IQ, but I do know that IQ scores predict a lot.
IQ is strongly related, probably more so than any other measurable human trait, to many educational, occupational, economic, and social outcomes. Quote:

I took one in high school to see if I could get into the "gifted" class. They never told me the score but told me it was enough to get in, and I think you had to have a 125.
My senior year of high school I was in the counselor's office doing something and she had my file open on her desk. She wasn't paying attention because she was on the phone so I peaked and saw I had a 128. |
IQ tests, SATs, ACTs, GREs they all mean jack and squat. I have a tun of friends who scored well above me on these tests but I run laps around in classes. It isn't because i study hard either. I usually end up tutoring these guys who have 30+ on their ACTs 150+ on the IQ test ect. I'm not trying to brag here at all but there is a lot more to intellengece and success then these tests can measure. For instance work ethics and motivation are two of the biggest factors of success. These tests measure neither. As a buisness owner i'd rather higher someone of average intellegnce that did the work of 3 men then a genious who hardly worked at all.

You see, nearly everyone who replied says how smart they are... I know Im NOT smart at all... I have hardly any original idea's... I have only one real talent, which is understanding things and I have a good memory - it meant I did well in school, and university, but in the real world I'm just a junior accounts guy... I used to think I was undersold, but as I get older, I am more and more accepted I'm just not that bright a person, Im not saying I'm an idiot, Im just a person with pretty average intellect and skills.
|
I did one once and got a 130 which is the lowest score to qualify as GENIUS! But most internet ones are just scams.

enough to be a MENSA member... but alas, I didn't want to pay for a membership.
then again.. Asia Carrera is a member.... |

I didn't bother with it. When I was young (5, maybe 6,) I took the WISC-III and scored close to the upper limit (~150) I was given an unofficial Stanford-Binet by a member of the Psych department at my school (this means I didn't pay, so I don't get the neat little certificate) and ended up with a 189. To bad that IQ doesn't equal achievements.

In 11th grade My Marine Biology teacher preached studying like crazy, study study study he would say until your brain was a file cabinet that when asked a question you just open up the drawer and retrieve the information. I never studyed and did better most the class, i just tribute it to my memory that i felt i learned it while writing it down and listening. |
I took one in high school, and I was in the 98th percentile of my graduating class... Not sure that means much.
Never taken one of these online.... maybe I will, just for fun, when I've had more than 2 hours sleep in the past 48... |
IQ test was administered by a psychologist to me when I was in the 6th grade. It was exhausting. The number came back at 154.
IQ means nothing. it is how you use what intelligence you have that means something. |
i did one when i was about to apply to my high school; can't remember why. got a 190 or something. probably alot lower now that i'm older... we only get dumber
edit: pss just took it and yeah i did get stupider.. 150 now a days |
i don't tend to take the online ones but i did take one at High school, part of our transcript for people in the top 10% i know what i scored and it was very good but they told me i was pretty low for other validictorians.
|
i love how nonchalant everyone in here is about their responses
"yeah... i'm 98th percentile... no big deal... i GUESS i'm smart" haha... I know i'm extrapolating what they said... but it made me chuckle I have no idea what my IQ is... i don't really care enough to find out. I'm in university, so I must have done something right. |
No. I've taken a few online tests just for fun, and the results are all over the map. All tests really measure is your ability to take tests created by English-speaking members of Western Civilization (and poorly paid ones, at that).

I took three seperate IQ tests prior to sixth grade (three elementary schools requiring them for placement in the upper-echelon classes...WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!) and scored a mean of 163 on two paper and one oral IQ tests. I took the ASVAB for the Army along with the DLAB (Armed Services Vocational Assessment Battery and Defense Language Assessment Battery, respectively), and I found their format to be roughly similar to the IQ tests. I maxed both the ASVAB and DLAB. The key to all these tests is that they assess your ability to ingest, decode, organize, and assess raw data--in short your ability to learn. They're all focused on pattern recognitions of various types. The DLAB was administered at 0600 at MEPS the morning I took it, and it fucked my head up as I'd had 2 hours of sleep the night before. The thing that saved me was my ability to learn, encode, and decode patterns--which happens to be exactly like learning a language, mathematics, or any other basic area of study. You learn the rules, you apply the rules, and formulate responses.
True IQ tests are classified as 130+ as genius. The key to genius is not the quantity of data inside a person's head, but rather their ability to receive it, process it and apply it to the world as we know it. The other key to life is that little thing "common sense." My father raised me to be practical, and as I became more worldly, I found my common sense increased as things became habit and thinking ahead became natural--but I found my success in the classroom diminishing as I was surrounded by intellectuals in my classes who lived in worlds of pure ideals, black and white situations, and none of the gray areas that define life would sink in with them. Frustration ensued, and I began to tune out professors and peers alike as I gravitated towards people that could survive in the real world on their own. The irony was also that many of my classes had people who weren't intelligent in an educational sense. I'll always remember discussing the thrust stage we were building for our musical my junior year of high school with my theatre teacher. I was weighing the merits of freehand sawing a length of 4x4 or mitre-sawing it, and was explaining to him why we needed to be "flush" with the floor on each corner and on each support. Then some broad in my class goes "don't you think you're so hot using all those big words?" I blinked, did a double-take and asked "What, using flush as intended for carpentry?" Hands on her hips, indignant set to her jaw, "Yeah, you think you're so smart." ... Blinked again, and said "Flush has five fucking letters in it. That's one more letter than 'Dumb' and the same amount of letters as 'Bitch', both of which apply to you currently." I don't know if I've ever been dumbfounded by that degree of stupidity ever again... |
I don't trust most of them. I normally get 130+ on the online ones. So I don't know my real IQ. I just know that I'm studying rocket science in college, and that I've had a lot of friends consider me a genius. Yeah, I may be smart, but there are those that are a lot smarter. I've ran into some extrodanary people and I normally feel extremely stupid in comparison. But it's not the IQ that matters. What really matters is how you use what intellegence you have, and the state of the heart you're in at the time. Use what you have with a kind heart and you'll go much further in life than the lazy, cold hearted, super genius...
...unless the super genius is set on world domination...*insert evil laugh here* Quote:

Never done a test in my own language, doing one in English wouldn't measure my IQ correctly.

Got me one o' them Mensa memberships. I reckon I'm doing OK. :)

I've never taken a real IQ test before, only those ones on the net, which are a load of nonsense; all they do is massage your ego by telling you how much a genius you are, so as to butter you up for shelling money out for something, such as a "professional in-depth analysis of your intelligence".
Pah! |
I scored a 252.
I mean it. For real. ... |
I needed Advil by the second question.
