im a tard i scored 101 I hate those what does this 423428938290 sided object look like unfolded... uhhhhh i dunno... i guessed on 70 percent of the questions...

Karby 08-15-2004 09:48 PM

i don't know what my IQ is. i've done so many of these online tests and i've gotten anywhere from 70 to 140 to 135 to 90 to 128 to 110 to knowing that the whole thing is plain bullshit.

anti fishstick 08-15-2004 10:22 PM

these tests piss me off. because I can be anywhere from 98 (as the 12 minute test suggested on that brain site) to 128 on most other test and 111 on some emode type site.

Ditto for me.
So are Bill Clinton, and some other people it would be cool to be a club with. What are the real benefits though?

BTW, I took a real IQ test in college and find that the internet ones have always given me a higher score. I think you start to learn how to take these tests to some degree. Then again, some people will never do well on them and can be quite bright. I don't think they are altogether bullshit, but certainly a grain of salt never hurts.

frozenstellar 08-16-2004 04:24 AM

i've had one admistered by a registered psych, and i think i came out to be about 135-137, i cant recall exactly. was 16 at the time.

but as we discussed - you can be book-smart, and then you can be intelligent. you can nail every test known, but they will never accurate how intelligent one is - only how good they are at taking IQ tests.

diddo, the one I took was really stupid. All the questions it gave me seemed real easy, and logical. it said I had an IQ of 131 which I know should be high. I think they're full of crap. I've actually thought about going to take a real IQ test, but dunno where???

any suggestions?

always got a 140+-5

Redgirl 08-21-2004 09:23 AM

I don't have to be smart- I get paid to stand around and look beautiful! j/k :p

I think I'm above average intelligence in that I can think ahead and solve real life problems. I also did fairly well in college and HS. There are many who are very school smart but lack all common sense, and those are the people that I feel sorry for. I don't know what my IQ is but I've never really thought it was that important.

pez252 08-22-2004 10:59 AM

I dont know what i scored last time i took one of these, but i do know the online ones are always high because they want you to feel special and pay to be in their "special people club."

raeanna74 08-22-2004 01:34 PM

The only IQ tests that are really accurate are the ones made for young children. Experience "raises" your IQ scores since it teaches you how to figure out questions. The more of that type of question that you run into the more easily you can come up with an answer. Coming to a test clean from much experience as a young child may do is a better indicator of inherent IQ.

It's actually a better tool in diagnosing learning disabilities and mental retardation than anything. I personally have never had the patience to answer finish any of those. Took one test back in elementary school but my mom never told me my score. Not sure why - maybe I flunked it. :p She always says I'm quite intelligent so what can I say.

As long as I know where my weaknesses lie then I don't think it's a big deal.

Pah!

Seconded. I find the online tests to be useful only for entertainment purposes. Who knows how much they fudge the end result so they can sell you an "in-depth analysis."

I think the most important thing is just being comfortable with yourself. Easier said than done, of course--but I don't think these tests work toward that goal. As soon as you start ranking how good your brain is on a number scale, it can cause all kinds of discomfort and self-consciousness. That energy is better spent reading a book, hanging out with people, watching a movie, cooking, working on your car, etc.

I SCORED BELOW 70 ON EVERY IQ OR APTITUDE TEST I'VE EVER TAKEN, and I went through life just fine
That's an EXTREMELY low score on the grand scale... That's equal to about a 6th grade educatability level..

cheese 08-24-2004 03:55 AM

i took a honest to got IQ test when i was in High school administered by the school head shrinker (tryign to figure out why i was getting F's in ALL of my classes :P ) i belive the score was 129, 98th percent. And i got an 80 combined score on my ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Assesment Battery) witch is apprently fairly high. enough to get me a submarine computer job in the navy. One of the hardest feilds to get in to next to nuclear propultion. I just wish i woudl have taken it in HIgh schoool. All of the math is highschool level and being out for 2 years did not help me when it came to reducing fractions and shit.

im just glad they didnt test my spellign otherwise i woudl have gotten a 4 :)

the IQ test and the ASVAB are entirely diffrent the ASVAB is more reallife knowlage ware as the IQ test is more, how well you figure things out .

filtherton 08-24-2004 08:26 AM

I took it and it said my i.q. was 1-800-mix-a-lot. WTF?!?!? Does that mean i'm smart or what?!?!?

Fat_Boy 08-25-2004 02:42 PM

I just read the Jessica Simpson has an IQ of 160.

So what does that tell you about IQ tests?

Oh yeah, I have had from 150 to 170 on all the IQ tests I have taken.

nothingx 08-25-2004 06:44 PM

I've had a real test administered to me by a psychologist once... It was while I was still a kid and my parents were just curious. I never heard the actual score, but they told me I was smarter than average. I don't think I'm a genious or anything though.

bing bing 01-02-2005 06:04 PM

Never trust an IQ test administered over the internet.

And semantically speaking, you can’t have an “IQ” (intelligence quotient), but you can have an IQ score.

Painted 01-03-2005 12:14 AM

According to Dr. Einstein, I have a IQ score of 178 :-p.

snowy 01-03-2005 01:15 AM

I'm amazed at how many people in this thread have claimed to have these outrageously high IQ scores yet cannot spell correctly. Shame.

Skerious 01-03-2005 07:36 AM

im stupid im pretty sure and i got a 134

Schwan 01-03-2005 09:14 AM

I’ve attempted a few IQ test, but I always loose interest after the first three exercises. Besides, the result would probably say I’m as daft as a doorknob. Maybe some day I’ll take a shot.

samiam 01-03-2005 01:19 PM

I have both taken and administered IQ tests as part of my training. The one thing I realized is that each test measures how you do on a particular test on a particular day compared to a normative sample. If you really want to do well in school, organize yourself and work on your study skills. If you want to do well at work, hone the skills and acquire the knowledge you need to succeed. Don't be a slave to a number even if it is from the Internet and we all know that there are no scams on the Internet or do we?

greytone 01-03-2005 05:50 PM

Ya'll can't count high enough to understand my score.

Just kidding, but I simply can't believe this test is very accurate based on the scores everyone is reporting. I would expect all high scores because being on the TFP selects out people with computer skills and certain motivations and abilities. Still, I think these tests that are easy to take and self score tend to be designed stroke our egos. A real test should be admininstered by someone who is properly trained and would include many more questions.

Still, an IQ test only measures one kind of intelligence. What difference does it make what your score is unless you are being placed in special education classes or are trying to get out of an execution (somewhere other than Texas)?

Tracybrian 01-03-2005 06:23 PM

It seems that there are not enough people getting 90-100 IQ.
Has anyone taken the test to see how low of a score they can acheave. I would but I am too lazy well I am kinda curious maybe I will check it out myself later.

I took the ASVAB for the Army along with the DLAB (Armed Services Vocational Assessment Battery and Defense Language Assessment Battery, respectively), and I found their format to be roughly similar to the IQ tests. I maxed both the ASVAB and DLAB. The key to all these tests is that they assess your ability to ingest, decode, organize, and assess raw data--in short your ability to learn. They're all focused on pattern recognitions of various types. The DLAB was administered at 0600 at MEPS the morning I took it, and it fucked my head up as I'd had 2 hours of sleep the night before. The thing that saved me was my ability to learn, encode, and decode patterns--which happens to be exactly like learning a language, mathematics, or any other basic area of study. You learn the rules, you apply the rules, and formulate responses.

True IQ tests are classified as 130+ as genius. The key to genius is not the quantity of data inside a person's head, but rather their ability to receive it, process it and apply it to the world as we know it.

The other key to life is that little thing "common sense." My father raised me to be practical, and as I became more worldly, I found my common sense increased as things became habit and thinking ahead became natural--but I found my success in the classroom diminishing as I was surrounded by intellectuals in my classes who lived in worlds of pure ideals, black and white situations, and none of the gray areas that define life would sink in with them. Frustration ensued, and I began to tune out professors and peers alike as I gravitated towards people that could survive in the real world on their own.

The irony was also that many of my classes had people who weren't intelligent in an educational sense. I'll always remember discussing the thrust stage we were building for our musical my junior year of high school with my theatre teacher. I was weighing the merits of freehand sawing a length of 4x4 or mitre-sawing it, and was explaining to him why we needed to be "flush" with the floor on each corner and on each support. Then some broad in my class goes "don't you think you're so hot using all those big words?" I blinked, did a double-take and asked "What, using flush as intended for carpentry?" Hands on her hips, indignant set to her jaw, "Yeah, you think you're so smart." ... Blinked again, and said "Flush has five fucking letters in it. That's one more letter than 'Dumb' and the same amount of letters as 'Bitch', both of which apply to you currently." I don't know if I've ever been dumbfounded by that degree of stupidity ever again...

I think you nailed it with this answer.

I did well in school, I'm doing well now, but I've met some people in my life that are one hell of a lot smarter than I.

I've also known some dumbasses who make a ton of money, if that counts for anything. Seems to boil down to hard work and how interested they are in their work.

rhaevyn 01-03-2005 07:10 PM

I've taken online IQ tests and gotten anywhere from 130-160. When I was in 5th grade, I was given an oral test to see if I was "gifted" and I scored somewhere around 126.

Aletheia 01-04-2005 12:12 AM

I haven't done an IQ test in a long time. I really don't believe in them though.

franzelneekburm 01-04-2005 03:08 AM

The concept of IQ is a bunch of malarkey (unless you are trying to identify young children with learning disabilities - the original intention), and the vast majority of IQ tests are very poor implementations of this malarkey.

For the record, I've taken a bunch over the years (including the more "proffesional" ones in school), scoring anywhere between 145 and 170, I've gotten near-perfect scores on most standardized tests, but never got good grades because I'm a lazy git. Oh, and my penis is really small.

franzelneekburm 01-04-2005 03:12 AM

Now, here's an aptitude test worth taking.

Hang on a minute, are you telling me that people that have some sort of involvement with day-to-day operation of nuclear submarines have trouble reducing fractions?

For some reason, that doesn't make me feel good.

OFKU0 01-04-2005 10:57 AM

All I know is that I'm smart enough to decline taking tests that try and tell me how smart I am.

I was given a test 5 years ago when it was discovered I was bi-polar. I'd had a manic episode and was in the hospital. The doc said he had good news/bad news. I had a high IQ at 158, but I'm mental. I'm like....duh. :D

Rekna 01-06-2005 12:35 AM

Here is the one truth I have figured out in life. The people who think they know everything actually know very little anyone who knows a lot realizes how little he/she actually knows.

That is throughout life the more I have learned the more I realize I do not know. Maybe this is a side effect of working in the sciences where it is impossible to know everything well, instead you grab one small subset and learn that well and realize you know nothing about everything else.

Oropher 01-06-2005 10:04 AM

I'd rather not know my IQ, that's how I like it :)

noodles 01-06-2005 11:27 AM

i took a test when i was 6 years old. scored a 145. haven't taken another since, though people seem to claim that IQ maxes out somehwere around 8-10 years old.
