Right now I'm working a steady 62 hours a week, every week. Two full time jobs suck!

Contract hours 37.5 hrs/week, although I usually work 40-45. I'm salaried, but do get overtime at basic rate. I made sure I got a job where overtime was paid - I got so badly screwed in a previous job that I vowed "never again". Also, I really enjoy doing what I do, so am happy to put the extra work in.

I work in an engineering consultancy, so we just bill all our time to the clients anyway, unless the job is fixed fee and running out of money, then we are politely asked to do a bit of overtime for free. We don't mind doing it though, as the company treats us well and we get paid for most of what we do. Flextime, paid overtime, 37.5 hours base - that's how to keep a workforce happy.

Yup, I'm exempt from fair labor laws. Guess that's the price to pay for getting paid whether I'm there or not.

One full-time job doesn't pay enough?

I'd say I only do about 15 minutes of "actual" work.

the hours i work depend on what i'm doing. when i'm playing road dog, the hours jump into the 50-60's, when work is slow and i'm playing city office lackey, i struggle to keep it at 40.

I went with 40. There are a couple months that we have to put in extra hours but we get that extr time as comp time and it's added to our vacation. The boss buys back unused vacation at the end of the year. Although I am exempt from overtime, any overtime I put in gets added to my vacation as comp time so one way or another I'm getting paid for it.

I work well over 70 hours a week, programming on hourly pay

first 8 hours of a weekday are normal time
next 4 hours are time and a half
anything past that is doubletime

weekends start at time and a half for 8 hours, anything after that is doubletime.

I like my job.
