This diner may very well be the inspiration behind Monk's, rather than Tom's Restaurant. It is here that Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld came up with the idea for a show about nothing. Much more comfortable than fighting for a seat at the more famous "uptown" diner. The Westway Diner is at 614 9th avenue between 44th and 43rd streets. The Westway can be reached at (212)582-7661.

Take the A, C, or E to 42nd street (at 8th avenue).

Walk 1 block west on 42nd street to 9th avenue.

Walk 1 3/4 block north on 9th avenue to the Westway diner.

The Westway diner is between 43rd and 44th streets and 9th aveune on the east side of the street.

I was considering coming down/up for the first day but I highly doubt my work schedule would permit -not to mention the fact that the only thing I have in common between you and the rest of the people going is this forum and although it gives us something in common I highly doubt it could make for an entire nights' worth of good conversation.

I've met lots of peple on the board from Finland to NYC, and as I go from place to place I hope to meet more. There are a few people that have met here and gotten married.

It's an opporunity to meet the people that the "talk" to in the discussions.

Forget Lullacry - did Nightwish RAWK?!?!?!

So a quick summary from me...

I had a great time on Sunday. I suppose it was a little smaller than Saturday - there were five of us - Halx, Supple Cow, Nefir, BuDDaH and myself. We met at Westway Diner (everybody else had been there the day before; I guess I was the newbie). It was a lot of fun - I got to find out a lot about everybody and there was a lot of fun conversation going on (mostly marveling at Supple Cow and her brownie sundae).

Afterwards, we headed over to BB King's Blues Club as BuDDaH said he needed to stop in there "for a moment."

45 minutes later... The four of us are left standing outside the club. There's a band called NIGHTWISH playing, and there's already a lineup outside (at 3:30) for people going to their 8 PM show. Suddenly it kinda feels like we're just lame-ass Nightwish groupies, except none of us really look like them. The best part is when BuDDaH comes out with guest passes for him, Halx and Nefir, and it's clear that BuDDaH is "in" with the band. Very cool!

We said goodbye to BuDDaH and the four of us walked uptown about 20 blocks to get Jamba Juice and meet up with Ubertuber, who was extremely busy at school and couldn't break free to meet us for the get-together. We got to hang out with him for about 10 minutes or so. We'll have to get together again soon. Wasn't enough time.

After that, I know that obviously Halx and Nefir hung out longer, but I had to get down to meet a friend for some music stuff and Supple Cow was off in search of...more ice cream, maybe.

Halx - great to meet the man, the myth, the legend behind this board where we all come and hang out. If I don't see you before you leave, I hope you visit NYC again - we're happy to have you here.

Nefir - you're a great guy and we should definitely hang out again, especially since we're in the same 'hood. Can't wait to see your pics from that amazing camera!

Supple Cow - you are sweet, charming and hysterically funny, and I'm very much looking forward to hanging out again sometime. I think we can cause great embarrassment to the human race.

Ubertuber - I'm really bummed that we didn't get more time to hang out, but when your week and a half of hell is over, we'll have to get together for dinner or something. You're really cool and look smashing in a tie.

And last but not least, BuDDaH, the most excellent....I can't believe we haven't met before (damn Cynthetiq, I think he was trying to keep us separated), but now I see we'll definitely have to hang out some more. Thanks for being so welcoming and friendly to not only me but just about everybody I saw you encounter.

Art, sus, mimi....you were missed. Sorry you couldn't make it. (same goes for all the other area people!)

I look forward to hanging out with all of you again soon...and meeting more TFP people in the NYC area!

sheesh... keeping you separated??? I don't even get enough quality time with you... I'm glad you could have made it. I'm glad that I didn't go... the sunny day at Ren Faire brought out the finest bustiers and corsets, holding ample bosoms and overboobage, there was one potential underboobage in a chainmail skirt and top. but alas I saw her only from the rear.
