This made my day... I just recieved a "long distance call from Arizona" and I had apparently "won a sweepstakes that I had been automatically entered into because of my Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover card."

After the guy spit all of this out I said, "wow, thats amazing considering that I have never had a credit card in my life." which he replied with, "oh well it must have been your debit card, you know, because it has a visa logo on it." and i said, "I havnt had a debit card in 2 years my friend." .........dial tone.....

....I am assuming it was a scam to get my credit card # and info...

any of you have any stories about these scams?

i only own a cell phone. havent had a land line or listing in the white pages for over 6 years. not a single marketing call since the switch. i highly recommend it.

Never heard of it. Then again, I never answer my phone.

They'd probably want your SSN to "verify your identity." Soon as they have that, your name, home address (Phone book) and the knowledge that you have a credit card... I suppose it's a start. I really dunno scams all that well though.

big ass deposit... at the end of the year they just put that 350$ for a credit on my bill & I didnt have to pay for my service for a while.

I've had cingular since they bought out the company that bought out the company that I originally signed up with (in 1993) I've never ever gotten one call from a marketer......wonder how it happend to you

I have never had a problem with it... today was the first one, i'm really not worried about it. I just thought it was a funny story.
