I learn both ways. If I see someone do something, most likely I'll be able to do it easily, without at practice. However, if I hear them talk about it, I'll remember it for the long term.
On the whole, I'd say watching someone is better for learning, as soon as you put into practice what you saw.

It depends what you're talking about. Could you give us an example?
For learning information, the best method is to take notes. For learning how to draw, the best method is to practice. For learning how to act, you have to both listen and watch. Listening is good for learning how to talk right and watching is good for learning how to express yourself right. ....etc, etc, etc. Tell us what you're talking about and maybe we can help you more accurately. |

Completely depends on the person.
Every person learns stuff differently. For me, I could attend a class and not take a single line of notes and still do quite well. I had to be there and listen to everything. For others, they can not attend but review notes and do just as well. I've a very audible learner. For other it's is written - hence the note taking. And for others it's a combination of spoken and written word. Just comes down to which works best for your. |

As a trained educator it is completely different for every person and for each person it is even different depending on the subject matter being learned.

I learn the best by physically doing the task. But, as desal said, it's different for everyone.

depends on the activity. most activities I can just watch and I can then do.. you know...
monkey see monkey do. others, I'll have to practice because it's something that I cannot do naturally or easily, most of those things are physical type things.
