Explain what you mean please. I'm not sure what killing a book burner has to do with protecting society. If you ask me, I'd rather people burn books than murder each other.

I don't see what the big deal is about people burning books. If it were the government, then that would be cause for alarm. It is a private organization, they are allowed to do with their property as they see fit, barring evironmental concerns. Come get me when they start burning "witches".

That's what people in Berlin said.

"First the Nazis came for the Communists; and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews; and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. When they came for the trade unionists I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a trade unionist. And when they came for the Catholics I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me... and by that time there was no one left to speak for anyone."

Such things include a butterfly knife, a folding knife that I used to open boxes at work, a copy of Stuff magazine (inappropriate because it had women in lingerie posing on the cover) and a pellet gun that she demanded I hand over but subsequently forgot about. I'm 20 years old, I should have the right to think for myself and own anythign I can use responsibly and own legally.
I have your solution:

MOVE OUT OF YOUR PARENT'S HOUSE

Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread, but if you're 20 and your mom is still throwing away your porn you need to get your own place. As long as you live in their house, they own you. Get out. Just do it. If your mother comes over to your house and throws away your stuff, lock the door.

Also, stop reading stuff magazine...your mom is right, Stuff and Maximk lower your IQ 1 point with each issue you read 8).

Nothing frightens me more than people hiding behind a dogma to condone their behavior.

It's a defense mechanism folks. Afraid of change? Simply destroy the things that could change you.

This is maybe slightly different. You know, I don't think this group of crazy fundies runs the country, or has the power to persecute people. They have the power, and the right, to dispose of their own property in a legal way. I'm sorry, but your analogy is too much of a stretch.
