If you're like me, you really don't drink carbonated beverages (I make exceptions for the ultimate one, rootbeer). Anyway, I agree with bascially everything my esteemed Absorbentishe says in this with the exception of coffee. Not only do I think coffee tastes gross, it's a diuretic.

However, as a list in case you didn't read the quote:

Powerade, Gatorade, fruit juices (little bit more expensive but much tastier), lemonade, Lipton brisk type stuff (it's tea, I know, but it's a little different because it's canned), koolade, and milk

If you want a tasty, filling, nutritious drink, peel two oranges and put them in the frezer until they're half-frozen. Then, put the oranges in a blender with three peeled bananas. Blend and add orange juice until you reach your preferred consistency.

You can change it up with some pineapple juice, grapefruit slices, pieces of kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, just about any kind of fruit. It's an infinitely variable blended fruit beverage limited only by your imagination and the capacity of your blender.

SNAPPLE SNAPPLE SNAPPLE

Im a huge snapple juice fan and they are really good and have something for everyone. I particularly like the flavors snapple apple (tastes like youre eating an apple), peach raspberry, summer peach and super sour lemonade. Although its probably just as bad for you as soda, it doesnt have the caffeine.

Juices are wonderful...there is a huge variety (people seem to make juice out of everything these days). I particularly like grapefruit juices and punches. Water is really good, too...and it's free, since I like to simply store some tap water in the fridge so it's chilled when I drink it.

I, too, can easily down lots of Coke, but for the sake of my health I try to avoid it.

I quit drinking softdrinks 5 years ago... The first 3 months or so sucked.. but after that it was easy to say "no thanks, ill just have a water." The main thing was letting people know that you are avoiding softdrinks.

The only thing I drink now is orange juice, grapefruit juice(sometimes I mix those together... yumm) water... and beer.

A while ago I stopped drinking sodas for the most part, and then after a bit, on the occasion that I did drink one, I would get a headache right away. Not just Cokes either, anything carbonated. So now I drink water, Propel waters, Gatorade/Powerade, cranberry and grape juice and lemonade. And coffee. And tea.

So I've been an avid soft drink, um, drinker, for as long as i can remember, and usually tear through a 2-liter in a day and a half. I backed off a little at college but still usually have a ton of cans of stuff to drink. At one point in high school, I couldn't fall asleep at night unless I drank a soft drink right before bed, which seems counter to caffine but thats how it was. Now a few days ago I was laying in bed and I realized that since I had run out and hadn't been back to the store, I had gone almost a week without drinking one, and kinda liked the idea that I could really cut back hard right now if I wanted to since I already had a start. I still will drink them to stay awake on the road or for late night studying, or even the occasional drink, but I think I'm going to try to stick with this whole cutting way back deal, seems like it has to be better for me than how much I was drinking before.

My question is, what the hell else am I supposed to drink throughout the day??? I've been drinking a good amount of water but I need some variety for my taste buds. So for anyone who doesn't drink soft drinks all that often, what do you drink throughout the day? And to get it out of the way ahead of time, I hate hate hate hate hate hate tea, any kind of tea, all kinds of tea, even though i've grown up in north carolina my whole life. So other than water tea, what do you drink throughout the day? I know it sounds stupid, but when you've relied on different kinds of soft drinks for this long, i just can't really picture anything else.
the one thing common in pop and sweet tea is the high sugar content. For your taste buds, I recommend juice. Pineapple, orange, grapefriut, grape.... really any kind of natural fruit juice. V8's fruit juice is pretty good, and gatorade's a good substitute for pop. I started loosing weight when I stopped drinking pop after college.

I was addicted to diet soda dn drank it heavily. I found out I had aspertame poisoning and had to switch to diet rite. But I have slowed down and drink water, juices (not much..too sugary) and love Propell water made by gatorade.

I'm trying to cut out all my soda drinks as well, I second the Brita plug above. Also, I would like to comment that a friend of mine drank nothing but sports drinks for a year and a half, ended up with bizarre gastro-intestinal problems.
point of the story: variety, a little of something is good, a lot is usually not so good.
