Present for my Fiance--need some help

My fiance and I will be celebrating one fantastic year together in September. We have already taken vacation time and booked to stay at our favorite place in the mountains to celebrate.

He does SOOOOOOOOO much for me..even the little things like stopping on the way home from work to buy me beef jerky, or taking a 1/2 day off from work without me knowing to come home and do laundry (or some other domestic thing) if I've had an especially rough week so that when I come home from work I can just sit and veg out.

I want to buy him something, not TOO extravagant, as an extra special surprise just to let him know with something besides words how much I love and appreciate him. I say not too extravagant because I already know what Im getting him as a wedding present...Im saving to buy him a really nice sword (a Claymore). But I'd like to get him something along the lines of a weapon...I think

you guys are always so good with suggestions I thought maybe you might suggest something that might spark a GREAT idea, because the more I think on it the more muddled my brain gets.

How about a cool dagger or a silver Celtic ring?

I always was a sucker for girls who like beef jerky.

Get him some small thing that relates to one of his hobbies. Does he smoke? A nifty lighter. Drink? A nifty flask. Golf? A personalized ball-marker. You know, like that.

He's into swords, so maybe a neat, personalized pocketknife would be appropriate? What else is he into?

Ooh, SinisterMotives has great taste. I concur most whole-heartedly.

Milady has given me both an awesome dirk as a birthday present, and very nice Celtic rings. I loved the one that spins, I've seen them sometimes called 'worry rings'. eBay has tons of them, among many other really cool Celtic jewelry pieces.

Best of luck!

I was thinking along the lines of Sinister, but like I said every time I come up with something I think of twelve more things....I SHOULD have stated in the original post we are in to swords, daggers, dirks, ANYTHING scottish/celtic related. I've bought him some jewerly in the past, celtic cross necklaces and stuff. I was wondering if a ring was a good thing to buy or not....

Since he's your fiance, rings won't scare him.

I'm partial to claddagh rings myself based on what tehy represent (love, loyalty and friendship) The sentiments are correct.

I have a silver claddaugh ring made by Solvar, and I love it. I bet he would too.

Yes, a claddagh ring would be quite appropriate. I love the symbology

Their jewelry is very good quality as well. They often have a booth at the Renaisance Faire - which is where I purchased my first claddagh.

I bought two of these as wedding rings from that little Irish shop on Wall Street in Asheville. The proprietor is a wonderful Irish lady who will talk you ear off if she gets a chance. Fortunately her stories are interesting.

As you can see, it has a Celtic knot motif all the way around. I thought it was the prettiest one in the catalog.

I know! You should get him a Japanese sword with Celtic markings!

Actually... maybe I'm a bit partial to them.....

I like the idea of the Celtic rings, though.... might I suggest a silver ring? In my opinion, with the right symbol on it, a silver ring is the most striking.

I thought you like it. I came across the site a couple of weeks ago.
I don't care much for jewelry but I like those. Took a bit to find it
again. I forgot how I came across it before but I'm good at google.

you most certainly may suggest silver!! My grandmothers high school class ring, class fo 1944 (in the picture above with my claddagh ring) is the only gold I wear. Silver strikes me in a way gold never does.

Where might I see what a japanese sword with celtic markings looks like? Would one have dragons? He's OBSESSED with dragons.

I like gifts that the person would never buy for themselves. Sometimes these can be everyday items that are just maxed out on the quality scale. Ever think to spen $50 - $100 on a flashlight? Well I bet he would crap for a bright, high quality LED flashlight. How about a $50 or so beach towel? Really thick and warm and super high quality. I always love mine.

Otherwise, buy a pepper grinder. This way you have fresh pepper when Chasey and I come over. We are pepper snobs.

ShaniFaye-

Sorry, I'm terrible with ideas, but I think it's sweet that you came to the group for such a thing. Your finacee is a lucky guy. My wife is the same with sweet sentiments and it truly makes a man feel loved!

I did some searching for you, ShaniFaye, and here's what I have for you:

Here's a neat dragon dagger for you (it's not japanese, but I still think it looks cool):

http://www.nasurveillance.com/30053.htm

I also found some Japanese ones I think look really neat, they're about 4/5 of the way down "Serpent Dragon Katana":

I just wanted to say I found the PERFECT thing to get Dave for our one year anniversary next month. (I have kept all the links that you all so kindly suggested to be able to use them to get "spur" of the moment I love you kind of gifts.)

We were shopping at the local adult store the other day and were in the BDSM section, and low and behold they had a black and purple (his favorite color) flogger!!! The color of the purple is the exact same purple thats in his kilt...(its a black and purple kilt). He got the biggest hard on in the store when I showed it to him and he tested it out on me hehehehe. Its 91 dollars so its definately in the price range too!

This is the closest picture I could find although the purple isnt right. What makes it so cool is not only is the leather in the handle both purple and black but tresses also alternate black and purple, with more black ones than purple
