the only thing i like about the 4th is the blowing up of stuff.
well, only fireworks. from a distance. like from the top of a warehouse. far from the madding crowd. well, that and the fact that it is a secular holiday.

for what its worth, when i was living in france i didnt like bastille day either.
the only difference between the holidays is that in the states there seem to be fewer cretins about who will throw firecrackers at you.

i dont like nationalism.

of course on this particular 4th, my girlfriend is coming back from two weeks away at a poetry thing, and that makes me quite happy.
and at this moment, greece is beating portugal 1-0 (69th minute)
so i interpret the fine wishes that started this thread in my own way, and respond with a low bow, sweeping the enormous pink feather on my hat along the marble floor....
