Buying groceries online
Anyone try this yet? I am so tired of going to Bj's, and overspending like some shmuck. Are there good deals online? Please post a link for some of these sites.

I thought the online grocery thing poped when the rest of the bubble poped.

Not true.

I am far too picky about fresh produce to use an online service, but I know several people who swear by them (especially the dual-career couples with small children).
I think Albertson's has a pretty decent service. |
I have used Netgrocer for years.
They don't have produce or meats but for dry goods and cleaning supplies, and cases of bottles water, as well as shampoos and stuff it's great. They use FedEx Home for their delivery so I place an order and get it in 2 days, if I am not in at the time Fed ex comes - -they'll leave it at the front door I don't have a car, the nearest grocery store is 1 mile away, I'm not home much, but I do keep a stock of bottled water, the last thing I want to do is lug it home. Same for laundry detergents and cans of tomatoes and other heavy stuff. The prices are a little highter, but it's paying for convenience, although netgrocer does occassionally have sales. IT's convenient as well, as I can pick exactly what I want, and am not tempted in the grocery store. http://www.netgrocer.com/ |
freshdirect here in NYC. I've not used them but people in my neighborhood swear by them.
they have fresh meats and produce that rivals Whole Foods. |
3-4 yrs ago i bought groceries online for a year or so.
it was nice to have the heavy stuff delivered, such as big boxes of laundry detergent & kitty litter, etc. but after a while i found the whole process to be even more annoying, time comsuming & less satisfying than to just get dressed, get into my car, hand pick & fetch it all myself. peapod & webvan both went belly up my area shortly after i decided to quit using them, but then that was the the time of the dot com bust anyway... safeway offers online groceries here now, but i really have no interest anymore. |
i also ordered from pets.com back then.
in fact i have a sock puppet :D today there's plenty of online pet supply websites that i can order from, but again... i find it simplier just to go to the store. maybe if i lived very rural, then it'd be another story. |
