Most Users Online Ever...
When you join a new board, do you ever look at that line at the bottom of the main index page that says "Most users ever online was [number of users] on [date] at [time]" and wonder what in the world happened that day to draw such a huge crowd?
Just out of curiosity, does anyone remember what happened on TFP on July 21, 2003 at 11:13 PM that drew 506 members here at once? |

This board used to get that many visitors on a daily basis, but I've had to cut down on the traffic or else our server would have been dead 3 times over by now. Why not keep the traffic and just get a bigger server? Well, they contributed nothing to the board. There's not much more you could have done to the server a year ago that wouldn't have costed $4000 anyways.

That certainly makes sense. When I see a figure for "most users online ever" that is much larger than the average number of people I'm used to seeing, I tend to imagine that something particularly controversial or titilating was posted that day that caused word-of-mouth news of it to spread across the Internet, prompting people to flock to the board to see it for themselves. I was just checking to see if that theory applies here.

It was just for the *cough boobies cough*. Before the crack down, there used to be many users who didn't contirbute. Now the place is better, higher quality posters around! Oh, and the boobies are here too, but that's just the icing on the cake!!
