Favorite mixed drink?

Just wondering what you're favorite mixed drink at the moment is?

Should it burn going down?
Sweet & smooth?
Mean & sour?

I've just discovered the 'Mojito': rum, mint leaves, seltzer, sugar...not bad

Fremen 06-26-2004 10:34 PM

Chocolate syrup and milk, and it burns going down.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. ;)

sadistikdreams 06-26-2004 10:34 PM

Oh man. I remember mixing tons of Mojitas... There's even a few resturants called "Mojito" here in Seattle.

But I would have to say, I like my drinks sweet and smooth. I have a few recipies of my own design, top secret, sweet and smoooth.

bernadette 06-26-2004 10:44 PM

rarely do i have a mixed drink, but when i do it's an uber strong margarita on the rocks.

double shot of tequila
shot of triple sec
shot of cointreau
and just the tiniest tiny splash of that sickening sweet 'sweet-n'sour' mix, no mas por favor.

mostly, i am just a beer or wine consumer.

CheeseButtons 06-26-2004 11:28 PM

Irish car bomb :) altho it's a chug-it kinda drink

1/2 can guiness
1/2 shot whiskey
1/2 shot baileys

Drop shot glass in, and chug it down

analog 06-26-2004 11:53 PM

I generally don't do mized drinks, except for jager bombs... but i do enjoy one called a blue kamikaze... it's sweet, a LITTLE sour, but tasty as all hell and fucks you up.

KellyC 06-26-2004 11:55 PM

some redbull, some 7up or Mt. Dew + a little bit of whiskey + ice = yum

I think Triple Sec is the same as Cointreau...

rockzilla 06-27-2004 06:25 AM

I gave up mixers for lent (except ice) and now drink straight booze. Although I do like the occasional whiskey sour.

Pacifier 06-27-2004 06:36 AM

I don't know if it has a name but mix together in a blender two cups ice, two cups fresh watermellon and one cup strawberries. Add a bit of sugar and splash in a dose of lime or lemon juice then add your rum or vodka.

cointreau has this lovely little orange scent/taste.
triple sec smells like glue.

Margarita on the rocks @ La Burrita in Grants Pass Oregon USA. They are the best margarita's I've ever had, and they mix them very strong.

Strange Famous 06-27-2004 08:46 AM

A good Scotch and a single ice cube.

Aren't you supposed to throw out milk after it spoils?...:)

wonderwench 06-27-2004 09:14 AM

I very rarely consume mixed drinks - but when I do, I love a good margarita. My blend:

- Patron Anejo
- Cointreau
- fresh lime juice
- a bit of sugar
- shaken with ice, then poured straight
- toppped off with a Grand Marnier float

Raleighbum 06-27-2004 09:23 AM

For me, the old fashioned, smooth and spicy Bloody Mary sometimes really does the trick!

Vodka 1 1/2 oz.
Lemon Juice 1 dash
Tomato Juice 3 oz.
Lime 1 wedge
Tabasco Sauce 2 or 3 drops
Worcestershire Sauce 1/2 tsp.

(serves as a quick lunch also...)

cait987 06-27-2004 09:25 AM

Slushie/frozen madori sour (that is a mixed drink isn't it lol)

World's King 06-27-2004 10:23 AM

Ketal One + ice = A really drunk King

I'm a huge fan of vodka and all the horrid things it does to me. Mainly I just drink Ketal one on the rock with a little olive juice. But I've been know to drink it any way I can get it.

choskins 06-27-2004 10:25 AM

My favorite mixed drink is actually a shot:

Fuzzy Gator
1/3 Midori
1/3 Peach Schnapps
1/3 Orange Juice

Tastes incredible. When you are doing shots with people who don't like Jager, etc., recommend this.

That actually doesn't sound too bad. I like tequila but I usually don't do mixed drinks.

Hmmm... isn't anejo a little too smooth for a marg?

brandon11983 06-27-2004 12:21 PM

When I'm out defiling myself, I usually stick to Jagerbombs, Viagras, Incredible Hulk shots, and good 'ol Miller Lite. That Fuzzy Gator mentioned above does sound pretty good, though.

merkerguitars 06-27-2004 12:28 PM

Apple pucker and 7up....I just love it...

raeanna74 06-27-2004 12:34 PM

#1 Slow Gin Fizz. I hate when they mix it with lots of soda water. I love plenty of slow gin - it's a mind enough flavor as it is that too much soda water and I might as well be drinking water. Besides they're usually expensive enough that I don't want to pay $5 for water - that's stupid. I think they taste and burn like Cherry Nyquil just a little bit.

Blue Hawaian - I forget what goes into it. - Sweet

I'm a fan of Vodka Tonics, but I usually take my booze straight.

bacon_masta 06-27-2004 01:10 PM

i'm going to have to go with the white russian as far as mixed drinks go (heavy on the vodka) but more often than not i'm more for beer or shots

No! It's fabulous. Shake, strain and serve straight up - then sip slowly.

timalkin 06-27-2004 01:13 PM

I'm a big fan of the non-alcoholic pre-mixed fruit drinks, like strawberry-banana or cran-grape. Add to crushed ice and it's perfect.

saut 06-27-2004 01:32 PM

The following is guarunteed to fuck you up very badly, very quicky:

Red Bull
Gatorade (flavor of your choice)
Vodka

I would recommend NOT drinking this. Ever.

snoop 06-27-2004 04:22 PM

Bourbon n Coke (and ice i suppose)

scoobydugan 06-27-2004 05:43 PM

If made correctly a Long Island Iced Tea can be quite the drink.

Gustoferson 06-27-2004 06:14 PM

Two old but good standbys, guaranteed to get the job done:

1. Vodka and Orange Juice

2. Generic PJ: Diesel, sugar, kool-aid packets (best made in quantities of several gallons at the very least, if made right tastes exactly like kool aid but still stronger than anyone realizes)

present_future 06-27-2004 07:50 PM

Bottle of Jack + 2 liter of coke = recipe for endless fun (not to mention vomiting)

Gustoferson 06-27-2004 08:59 PM

Ah yes and I forgot another old favorite:

Tested, tried, and true. And wondering if its a bad sign that the first non-newbie-section posts in this forum are about getting tanked.

Hell yea! A good long island is absolutely delicious. Two good long islands and you're gonna need a ride home. Three good long islands and you might need to be carried home 8).

My favorite drink but you have to be ready for it. If I can't get a long island I'll take a whiskey and sprite.

Rubyee 06-28-2004 04:40 AM

Well, unfortunatley, I have not been able to partake in the mixed drinks yet- but two weeks!

I know what I want to try, though.

Mai Tai, but now I cannot remember what goes into it
Cosmopolitian
Grasshopper
Mudslide

and that Fuzzy Gator sounds really good, too.

I really don't like the drinks where you can really taste the alcohol, so I will probably stick with the sweet, smooth drinks (in two weeks).

splck 06-28-2004 05:36 AM

Cuba Libre..yum

I don't care for girly sweet fufu drinks.

Temporary_User 06-28-2004 11:28 AM

Good ol' Jack n Coke
that or Rum and coke.
Rye and Ginger comes in a close third

Blackthorn 06-28-2004 12:16 PM

My current favorite is a -> LINK: -->RUM RUNNER. This is a fabulous blender drink great at poolside or other hot, outdoorsy occasion.

Another good one is a home brew concoction that I call a fuzz buzz. It's made in a blender by:

1) - fill the blender 1/2 with ice
2) - add 6 oz container of frozen lemonade
3) - add 1 & 1/2 lemondade containers of your favorite VODKA (approx 9 oz)
4) - add two peaches (minus pits & quartered)
5) - optional add 2 or 3 strawberries for color
6) BLEND adding ice until proper mix for frozen drinkie is achieved. Also possible to add more vodka to taste. :D

PayUp 06-28-2004 05:56 PM

Flamming Dr. Pepper

IN shot glass:
1/2 Amaretto
1/2 Kahlua

Mountain Dew and Good Agave Tequilla

06-28-2004 07:25 PM

I'll occaisionally inbibe in a long island - provided it's made by a trusted bartender with top shelf liqour, but my absolute favorite mixed drink would be Bombay Sapphire & Tonic - crushed ice, and the slightest twist of lime. Nothing quite like it. That and ya know, that extra protection from malaria, can't beat it ;)

1 shot vodka
1 shot triple sec
1 shot sour apple pucker
splash of sweet n sour
splash of cranberry juice

mmmmmm, yummy

paddyjoe 06-29-2004 05:50 PM

Frozen Margaritas baby.

I get this stuff, tastes great. You're supposed to use a 750ml bottle, but I always get the 1L instead.

Bucket 'O Mix

Tequila

Wax_off 07-06-2004 11:05 PM

I go for the simple. Gin and tonic. Everyone know how to make one, and you don't need any special ingredients. The more nasty the gin, the better. All those expensive gins don't have the right juniper berry flavor.

Mojitos are pretty good too.

blindawg 07-07-2004 08:11 AM

I was just introduced to this one a few nights ago.. its the smoothest thing I've ever drank

Chocolate Martini
1 part Godiva
2 parts Baileys
1 part cherry vodka

Shake well in and strain through ice.

I was completely amazed at how well it went down..

Um, not really:

"Triple Sec Orange in flavor, Cointreau is a specific brand of Premuium Triple Sec. Getting their flavor from Curacao Oranges, Triple Sec is also referred to as White (clear) Curacao."

from this site.

And:

"Triple Sec, Orange Curaco, Grand Mariner, and Cointreau are all orange flavored liquors, and are often interchanged for one another depending on the cost conciensness of the bars proprietor."

from here.

sherpahigh 07-07-2004 09:44 AM

I'm all for keeping it simple.

Rum and Coke is the hands down winner, preferably dark rum and coke.

Next up would be Gin and Tonic.

Polyphobic 07-07-2004 10:15 AM

My first mix drink is still my favorite. The good old Margarita.

Tinker 07-07-2004 10:54 AM

Right now its
Absolute Vanilla Vodka with a splash of Ginger Ale :)

I like the taste of Rum and Coke. For some odd reason though, every time I've tried it I've gotten an instant headache. Hangover type headache. That throbbing aching kind. I still have yet to figure it out. I'm not diabetic or have any problems like that. I've only tried it a couple times thinking that the first was only coincidence. Oh well. There's plenty of other things to try and much that I haven't even tasted yet. :D

Supple Cow 07-07-2004 06:27 PM

I like a good mai-tai, but never with malibu rum. I hate coconuts in my rum!

Cuba Libre is a reliable old friend as well - it's great because you can get it in a can out of a vending machine in Costa Rica. (That was the best vacation of my life... what little I remember ;))

thesupermikey 07-07-2004 06:42 PM

If i have to chose a mixed drink its got to be the irish carbomb. But there is nothing better in this world than a pint of Sam Smith Oat Meal Stout. Its as think as oil and has more carbs than a loaf of bread.

Molo 07-07-2004 11:02 PM

White Russian anyone?

Kahlua + Milk = tasty

Bentley Little 07-08-2004 05:24 AM

Manic_Skafe 07-08-2004 07:22 PM

VSOP mixed with nothing = very fucked up night.

There are those that have seen me drink straight from the tequila bottle....

Anyone else done straight Everclear shots? Hurts/burns like the devil for about 30seconds and then you're fubar'd.

raeanna74 07-09-2004 04:26 AM

Straight Everclear here.

We were at a party at about 2-3am. We were doing belly shots and they were using Everclear. The girl was such a hottie. ;)

Whatever you don't don't try a Cement Mixer.

Basically, it's just a shot of Bailey's and a shot of citrus juice (usually lime or lemon juice). You slam back the Bailey's, but don't swallow it. Then, you slam back the citrus juice, mix them together in your mouth, and swallow.

Most. Disgusting. Drink. Ever.

If you've ever read the back of a Bailey's bottle before, you would notice that they warn you not to mix Bailey's with any citrus juices. The reason for this is because citrus juice actually causes Bailey's to curdle, so you end up with a sickenly sour lump of mass going down your throat. Just about gagged when I tried it.

I didnt believe the person who told me about those...then I tried one. Unbelievable that it tastes just like it. It made my list of favorite mixed drinks.....

I've cut back on the liquor since my college days...I'm more likely to have a glass of wine, but if I wanted a mixed drink Id probably go for:

To sip: Malibu & cranberry
To get hammered: Flaming Dr. Pepper or a tequila shooter

I agree with the White Russians. Here's something, try it with vanilla Stolli for a completely new taste!

Recently, I got turned onto a drink. Capitan Morgan and GingerAle. Tastes like a cream soda!

matteo101 07-10-2004 09:32 AM

But I have to stick with Vodka mixed with virtually anything.
