There are a ton of mormons around here that ride their bikes in 105+ weather. Yeah they're a dedicated bunch. They're so dedicated that they have time to check me out when they're preachin' to me.
Oh, and I do see more mormons at my door than i do JWs. That's for sure.

Not scripture, I know, but intresting reading none the less.
Want to ask something specific from there. Those are the typical anti stuff and a lot of it was taken out of context... I can talk about hings but all at once it's more than I'm going to type out here. However, this is getting into INCREDIBLY deep doctrine and unless you understand the very basic fundamentals of our religion some of it will remain confusing. LOL

Is it a mission of mormons to gather up the lineage of Lehi so the coming can occur?
I refer you to LDS scripture: Moses 1:39

Quote:
"For this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."
We believe that this was Jesus Christ's mission on Earth. This all encompassing mission is the purpose for suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, dying on the cross and the resurrection 3 days later. We now attempt to spread His word to give ever man woman and child the opportunity to hear His word and make a choice to accept it or not. That's our mission.

The Article of faith your refer to:

Quote:
“We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.”
Is more of what we believe the result of the latter-days to be. This is what we believe about the 2nd coming basically. That the earth will be renewed - cleansed as spoken of in Revelations and that it will become as it was when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden - a paradise. We also believe that Zion will be here on the American continent.

What part of Arizona. I was born in Flagstaff, lived in Holbrook, Palo Verde and graduated from Centennial High School in Peoria Arizona. And yes, there are a WHOLE lot of Mormons there. LOL

Just a point for you that you might find interesting: being jewish, in the correct sense, not common usage, is also not lineage related. Being an Israeli is lineage. So christians (especially the earliest ones) made claim that they were "jewish" and in fact the truest jews, being chosen and all that. So you would have a lot in common with christian fundamentalists along with some mainstream denominations if you believed that you are a 'true' jew (in the metaphorical sense). (and some jewish people support that ).
LOL - I actually knew that but I'm running on 30 minutes sleep and I'm watching two toddlers... both my own. LOL I'm brain fried.

We have no other Gods before Him. But we believe that there are other Gods.

After both living in a neighborhood with many mormons, later dating one for 6 months, then talking with many non-Mormons who live in SLC, I have come to the conclusion that while these people will defend their religion to the death, it's a really bad way to live. Members of their religion hold aloft the entire anti-depressant drug market in Utah. When you extract them individually from their environment of peers, they become disoriented and unable to function in society for a time. Just like any other religion, they villainize symptoms of problems, and not actual causes, thus never really fixing anything, just creating jobs for people who wish to fight the war on sex, drugs and rock & roll.

I could go on, but despite my utter dislike for my ex, I won't completely defile all of the things she entrusted to me.

We can all become like God. It is a state of Eternal Progression. Not a sudden occurrence but a slow and steady evolution.

No - we are not the "Gods" children. We are God's children. So we are striving to become like Him... not Them.

I can understand having issues with the LDS Creation model. Before gaining a testimony of the creation model other things must be understood and prayed about. One thing that we will never ask is blind acceptance. There are many who do blindly accept and that is VERY against our doctrines. We are told to find out for ourselves.

So there is the God of Abraham, and then some other gods just hangin out? A "god" is something that is worshiped, and my God is a jealous God, and would never like that.

I'm in Hinesville. And no problem.

And I'm gonna have to get back to you when I'm more awake on the plurality of God's thing. But I woudl like to continue this - maybe in private message so as not to mob the board.

Oh Halx - I apologize ahead of time for the majority of Mormons in SLC. Utah mormons can be such jackasses.

I stopped believing in religions a long time ago, and I've never been happier. My mother always forced me to go to church and I would just fall asleep. I believe that there is a higher being to a certain point, and then live my life by morals and values. My friend is mormon and I always felt bad for him, because he acted so strict with life and missed out on all the fun events. But it makes him happy so it works for me.

As someone who lives in "Mormon country" they annoy the piss out of me, for the most part. Yes, there are some great people that happen to be mormons. There are also some ridiculous idiots that do everything they can to ram their little black book down your throat.

I can understand a religion that follows the teachings of Jesus, or Mohammed, or Buddha, but a religion started by "Joe Smith"?

I used to be Mormon. And they always find me hahaha even after moving half way across the country. I don't mind the missionaries at all though, even though my family is no longer members they helped us move on several occasions, and although they continually try to get us to become active in the church again they have never been too pushy about it. I always make sure to stop and say hi to any missionaries I see as well. Plus I do defend the religion to this day because so many people have such ignorant views about what the Mormon lifestyle is about.

because the religions believe that you will go to hell if you don't believe in the right religion, and, being nice people, they don't want to see you set on fire forever.

If the rest of the Protestants would take a lesson from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (their persisatnce and their firm belief), we would be much better off.
