I didnt go to my Senior prom....at the time I was doing civil war re-enacting and the Confederate Ball was the same nite and as I was voted Maiden of the Ball (equivilant to prom queen) I kind of had to go. It was one of the best nights of my life, and not because of my title but because of the whole way it was pulled off and I had THE most awesome dress hahaha I even had to waltz wearing 7 layers of clothes including the hoops

I was 18 just because I took a year off to work to save up some money for my Daughter and GF

I graduated at 17, but only because i was born in July. The majority of the ~850 members of my senior class were 18 before we graduated, and some had been old enough to vote in the November 2000 election--a bare 2 and a half months after the school year started.

I dont know about anywhere else.....but here in Georgia if your birthday is later that sometime in September you start school later (IE if you turn 6 in December then you dont start first grade until the NEXT school year) which does in fact mean you're 18 when you graduate. Like Pain Train my bday is in July so I was a month away from being 18 when my graduation rolled around.

Being 18 and going to Prom is not at all an uncommon thing.

Insane

I went to five different proms, and each was rather bizzare.
First one, my girlfriend broke up with me in the parking lot after the prom.
Second one, I went with Miss Teen Florida and the guy from the couple we were double dating with, disspeared for about three hours.
Third one, was at a "country" high school. They played either country music or rap, and the predominate race of kid on the dance floor alterntated with the music.
Fourth one, I pretty much detroyed my tux on the dance floor, and my date went unconscious from diabetes.
Fifth one, my date didn't speak English (German exchange student)
All in all, it was more bizarre than fun.

I didn't go to either of my proms. I should be sobbing and feeling sorry for myself, but I don't really care that I didn't go There were more important things to do during those two weekends.....like Thunder Valley in Bristol, TN!

I went to one dance in highschool, and that was enough for me. I had no interest whatsoever in attending prom and I have no regrets about missing it.

Crazy

I graduated high school at 17, because I was born in August! Started college 2 weeks after turning 18.

Just an FYI: Prom did not damn him by itself, there is available proof of his minor status.

We do not ban people just because they said they went to prom. Sheesh.

I guess it must be different in Canada, because I would have graduated at 17 but I passed to make some money...glad I did, I got to graduate with all my buddies!

I always loved going to the Junior/Senior Proms. I had a boyfriend all through high school, so I fortunately never had to look for a date. I loved dressing up and going out for dinner. Never really got ass though, he was a strict Catholic, but it was some fun and magical times that I'll never forget.

I went to prom twice, and it took to the end of my first one to come to the greatest realzation about prom that I thought was possible, knowing full well that there are greater things to be revealed in just knowing this simple fact. It's ALL about the girls. There, no getting around it, so I said it. Prom is literally, entirely, and there's no denying it from those asked, all about the girls. Guys, shit, I'll be honest, I'd just as soon be at the dentist or the doctor or in jury duty as be at the prom. For me, at least, the prom represented nothing more than a glorfied dress-up contest. I mean seriously, all prom was, to me, a time for girls to look their absolute best, with months of emotional, physical and fiscal preparation being put on the line, so that a "dream evening" might take place. This is almost every girl that goes to prom fantasy "I'm a princess, everyone look at me, not her, not the guy who's certainly almost unwillingly attatched to my arm" night. All I was hoping for at the end of the evening were these things 1) get me outta this fucking monkey suit before I gag myself, 2) get her outta that dress before I bust-a-nut inside the monkey suit, 3) I wonder if there's any money left in my bank account after this wild foray into the life of high-spending? Seriously, these were the thoughts that were running through my head while the evening was going on. Now maybe, I'm just a nerd or an insensitive jerk, and will be called so in later posts, but man. I just didn't care, because I knew it was all about her, the guys are just there for a black background for the girls to gab to each other how much they like the other's dress, (knowing full well that they hate each other's dresses, that the dress makes the girl look like shit or something along those lines). It's a precursor to marriage, its an initiation for the guys who are there with the girl to be prepared to spend money on the opposite sex for the rest of your life.

If this is true you should PM one of the mods with this. Maybe that will help. Good luck... And I hope he enjoyed his formal.
