I am officially...
a deadbeat parent as of yesterday and according to Iowa. I recieved a letter from Iowa. Whom are claiming they have investigated the situation with my problem I thought I had with Colorado only to find out that for 15 years my youngest sons name, born in the year 1988, has been on child support recovery units papers sent to me from Iowa showing where the man I had been married to when my youngest son was born and divorced from in 1996, was and has been held responsible for support for this child as being considered a legal father because of this marriadge . In 1998 or 1999 I recieved a statement showing where a tax offset had been taken from this same man in 1996 and 1998 as well if I recall right for this same child born into this legal binding marriadge and by my knowledge for 15 years considered a legal child because of the marriadge to this man.
For 15 years I have lived with belief that my youngest sons biological father got by with kidnapping my son when taking him over state lines without consent and obtaining custody illegally in Colorado. Only to find as of yesterdays letter I recieved that Iowa is now claiming they have investigated, even after my calling on this situation several diffrent times confirming that my ex husband was responsible, which led me to emailing my local governor as things were not getting done in my favor trying obtain legal help without getting a huge runaround as to what state to obatin legal representation in and having to pay thousands of dollars to obatin an atty in which I don't have. So I have came this far to now have found out that Iowa is claiming they have been in the wrong and have corrected their 15 year error by removing my sons name off their records and have apologized for the confusion that this has created. How fucking sweet! So now I am a dead beat parent as for 15 years I have not paid when in belief that the whole damn situation was illeagal .. I have sought legal respresentation to sue Colorado, I have slandered Colorado, had my license revoked in the state of Colorado.. am facing having a lean placed against my home and rendering legal proceedures against me if I don't pay the same support that for 15 years I was under the assumtion another man was also responsible for, and had been held responsible for as money had been taken, so the records had (stresses had) shown, as a tax offset for the same child I am facing a finacial legal position for now. All because of Iowa's 15 year error and the ability to wipe their records clean by just simpily removing my sons name off their records and system! Tell me I am not more than slightly a little bit pissed!!!!! Now what? How is it that when I as a citizen make an error that is that costly to a human life would find myself in court and the goverment can just wipe the error they make that is costly to a human life off record?

Iowa made a 15 year error I get to be held accountable for. An error a govenrment agency, the child support recovery unit, is simply able to write off their records as though it never exsisted. Word of advice. Any papers you gain through out the years that can possibly even after 7 years come back to haunt you. Never throw away. Especially when it deals with court documents, public assistance, child support, tax audits, anything that can become a finacial nightmare for you sometime down the line as it could be the only thing you have left to prove your word against any goverment agencies word as it seems to be that easy for them to just remove all records pretaining to any erorrs made on their behalf. I am glad I have saved all mine.

Get a lawyer; a good one. You have your papers, and you need legal representation as soon as possible. That you have gone this far without one is dangerous; you need someone who speaks the language.

So:
- guy number 1 is the father of your youngest son - guy 1 kidnapped your kid and moved to Colorado - you got married / remarried to guy 2 - guy 1 is claiming guy 2 is responsible for 15 years of child support since guy 2 didn't pay - guy 1 just took your house and got your license suspended - the IRS is mad at you for claiming a tax credit on your kidnapped son I am really confused and that was as close as I could get. I bet I am wrong. Maybe the Govenor you wrote too was confused too. Hopefully this gets worked out, but it is scary the amount of information the government has on us. You can take a subset of the information and build a hell of a case on someone that paints an entirely different picture than what happened in real life and it usually has to do with when one crucial fact is ignored. Your elected officials are far too busy furthering their own interests to care.

I have a friend going thru something quite similar in the facist state of Ohio, the state is the one who's responsible for suspending the liscence (and also takes the passport - evenif you considered leaving the country -- you can't without ID -- but both Canada and Mexico have extradition treaties with the US)
It sucks for the parents who get stuck in this horrible situation -- but honestly, not enough is being done to get all the true deadbeat parents out there.
