Newlywed J-Lo expecting baby:

Tue Jun 8, 4:49 PM ET

NEW YORK (AFP) - Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez is expecting a baby with new husband Grammy-winning salsa star Marc Anthony, it was reported.

Anthony, meanwhile, is refusing even to say whether the couple got married at the weekend at Lopez's Hollywood home.

A guest at the marriage told a source quoted by the New York Post that the curvaceous film star, who broke off her highly publicized engagement with film star Ben Affleck just a few months ago, was expecting.

Another friend confirmed that Lopez has been informing friends of her pregnancy, the New York tabloid said.

The marriage has so far only been reported by the US celebrity media.

Anthony refused to confirm it when he made an appearance on NBC's Today Show on Tuesday to sing one of his new songs.

"I see where you're going with this, and I'm going to preface it with just saying - y'all know I don't talk about my personal life," Anthony said.

The newlyweds, who are longtime friends, have a lot in common. Both are "Nuyoricans" born in modest circumstances in New York to parents from Puerto Rico. Both have worked in pop music (including a duet together) and film, and become multimillionaires.

Anthony, an old flame of Lopez, was granted a divorce in the Dominican Republic just last week from Puerto Rican former Miss Universe (news - web sites) Dayanara Torres. He has two children with Torres and another from an earlier relationship.

Lopez's marriage to backup dancer Cris Judd floundered just a few months after their September 2001 nuptials. Her first marriage, to Ojani Noa, ended in 1998.

In addition to her marriages, the Hollywood headliner is also veteran of at least a couple of high-profile relationships with powerful men in the entertainment industry.

J.Lo's 18-month-long on-again, off-again courtship with Affleck finally ended in January, after a cancelled September 2003 wedding and a movie together, "Gigli," which proved to be a critical and commercial bomb.

She also had an earlier, longterm relationship with rap mogul, fashion designer and actor Sean "Puffy" Combs, who now goes by the moniker P.Diddy.

I really wish the public's fascination with quasi-talented people would stop.

I think J. Lo's on the way to a Mariah Carey breakdown. More and more people are sick of hearing about every little thing she does. One day the publicity will stop, and then what? Crazy happens.

Yeah, I'm so glad that J Lo and Michael Jackson are permanent fixtures on the Today show and other news programs. There isn't much else out there in the world that I would want to know about! Forget about all the wars going on and "real" issues.

PS - The rumor is she is pregnant as well

Hmmm...glad to see that I'm not the only one suffering from J-Lo overload. I mean come the fuck on! Who really cares? If she farts...it's news. If that fart should stink...it's breaking news. She's an entertainer, for crying out loud. Why do so many care what she does, in her private personal life? It's her life...let her live it.

Being J-Lo's ex-husband is becoming a rite of passage for Hollywood celebs! It is almost like you aren't A-list unless you married J-Lo.

I think it's more like "Marry J-Lo and try to be A-List.... Her first ex was a waiter, dunno what he's up to now.. Her second - Chris Judd- was on "I'm a Celebrity (ha!) get me out of here" Not quite A-list....

I can give you a psychological reason we as a society like to read of celebrities having problems. It's the same reasoning that keeps Soap Operas alive.

We, as a society have many pressures put upon us daily. Some inflicted from work, spouse, children etc, but the vast majority come from self-infliction. And when we read about how someone who makes millions and lives the life we dream of living has either the same problems or problems much greater than we percieve ours to be it validates us. It's an emotional displacement or escapeism theory, that many in the psychology world believe.

This was more common with housewives in the past, because men were more separated from their feelings and worked hard and avoided stress by accepting their positions in life. Today, men suffer from it as much as women, because men are more in tuned with their emotions, watching more television and inflicting far more self stress upon themselves to be better than their predecessors.

Example: Joe is having marital problems and feels as though his life is boring and that he is stuck. Joe sees that Celebrity "A" is having marital problems and is also being dragged through the mud for any number of reasons.

Joe feels better because if celebrity "A", who makes millions more and lives a much better life is having problems then Joe must be OK and Joe isn't as bad off as celebrity "A".

That is the main reason why the tabloids are selling like crazy and "mainstream news" follows these people.

*sigh* so true... so true...

i don't understand how entertainment came to have such a high value. we'll pay more for two tickets to a concert than we will for a week's worth of groceries. wtf?

In my opinion, J-Lo's been over-rated for the past two years in every aspect that I can think of, including even her looks. I wish if the news was goin' to cover an entertainer over the war, at least make it an entertainer that the media hasn't already stalked to death.
