wait.. next we'll have teeth that brush themselves

Sounds cool. Basically they shove metal particles through your skin, the follow up with medicine.
How much material can be transmitted, I wonder? |
Maybe it's me, but I don't really have any problem with big fat needles. Guess I enjoy getting to act like the tough guy in front of cute young nurses (or old ones, doesn't matter).
Still I'm all about the improvement of health care tech, and getting rid of those sharp needles would be quite a step in the right direction as far as the safety of those needles is concerned. My mom has gotten pricked way too many times for my comfort. |
Heroin users rejoice?
omg im so happy about this, I have a deathly fear of needles and this thing wouldnt bother me a bit =) yay!!!
now here's the question....can they take blood out in a similar fashion?? Now if they could do that, I would definately donate plasma twice a week.
I call dibs on the captain's chair!
Sweet jeebus it actually worked out! I saw a little segment on a show about this a long time ago, 6+ years I think, and it ended off with the guy they were interviewing saying they needed to get more money and were hoping for the best. Man, just think of all that this could be expanded into doing.
I don't see how this is news. They used this method in 1976 for the swine flu.
Now can the same applicator be used on more than one person? It would be cool if so, another way people can't get HIV or some other nasty disease...
They were using it in some basic training areas for the military four years ago.
Yeah, I saw this on cnn a few years back I think. I would of thought it'd be out by now though. I really hope its out soon, cuz needles are my bane. X_X
Sissys ... just stick me.

As I said, it was being used, in large scale, in 1976. I don't know why they stopped using it.

Did I mention that penicilin had the consistency of yogurt? And they shot it in my ass dammit! |
Yeah, I read a few years ago that England was staring to use a similar system widespread in their hospitals.:thumbsup:

Less potentially hazardous and sharp medical waste can only be a good thing if you ask me. This would also be a big thing for those who are both insulin-dependent diabetic and needle-phobic.
Im guessing children will be less afraid of the needles now.
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency"
:) Sounds good to me, i'm no more of a fan of needles than the next guy. |
Hasn't the military used this technology already for mass immunizations?
*gets in line for the holodeck*
