how much for clothes?
 

i was with my sister yesterday when we see a girl walking towards us. my sis notices the girl's jeans and stops her to comment on how cute they were, and also to ask where she got them from and for how much. the girl says she bought them from an outlet in Georgetown and that they cost her around $450.
so i asked if the pants had gold or some other precious thing weaved into the stitchings. she responds with half a giggle and says "well some of us can afford it." my response to that was a raised eyebrow, and "it's not that i can't affort it...i just don't want to."
now i couldn't care less what that girl does with her own cash, as it's no business of mine, but as for me, i don't think i would ever find myself spending that much on one pair of jeans. for $450 i can get more than one pair or jeans or something. $450 is probably the amount i'd spend on 2-3 months worth of clothes. mabye 4-5 months, but for me that's stretching it .

jeans...no more than 50 bucks
shirt...no more than 30 bucks
shoes...no more than 60
shorts...no more than 30
jacket...no more than 100 for a regular one, snowboard jacket 200...
hoodies..no more than 50
sweater...60 max.
Call me cheap, but I spending money any more than the above list is wasting money. I don't have a lot of money either so I try my damnest to manage it...

for $450, I can buy 10 jeans and maybe 5 shirt....I kid you not.

My entire wardrobe doesn't even come to $450. Fuck that, I've got car parts to buy, wifebeaters and cargo shorts to wear, and a company T-shirt for work during the summer.

I would never pay over 50 dollars for a pair of jeans, much less 400 something, that's just rediculous. The most I'm ever willing to pay for a good pair of pants is in the forty dollar range, but most of the time I wait for them to go on sale and get them at around 20. What can I say, I'm on a college budget and like to save my money when I can. :)

However, even if I had more money than I knew what to do with, I still would not pay that much for a pair of jeans, nothing you could do to them would make them worth that kind of money.

$450 sounds like Gucci or D&G or something. I don't think I would ever pay that much for a pair of jeans either. The most I've ever paid for a pair of jeans were $130, and that's just because that that's what they cost around here. Diesel jeans in a nice wash, new model. I would be able to get them for half that amount a year from now, from an outlet store selling irregular and test runs. And that's if I was a normal size, which I most certainly am not - I have long, long legs.
A quality hoodie (like Triple Five Soul or Pelle Pelle or something) costs me around $100-120. A good t-shirt is $50.
Shoes, if you want something durable and nice-looking, $120-150. If you want quality leather shoes like Lloyd's for suits and that stuff, they range at around $250 for the most normal (from what I've seen, never bought a pair of those)
This is Denmark, mind you, and paying $5 for a shake would be quite normal around here, if it's large and made with fresh fruit.
We pay over $5 for a Big Mac.
We also get free hospitals and doctors, money for going to school, and a lot of other nice things.

If I had $450 to spend on whatever, I would probably buy one pair of jeans for $25, and spend the rest on other articles of clothing, or maybe dvds, or video games, or hell, even give the money to charity.

But sadly, most jeans don't last more than a couple of years, and I may not even fit into them months after I get them.

It also sounds like she is the type of girl that only wears what is in stlye anyhow, so they will only last her one "season" and she probably has 20 other pairs that are "in" this "season" at home. To be that rich...

I think I spend more than on my daughter's clothes than mine. But then again she's growing out of them as fast as I can put her in them. I don't care about brand names. Not much anyway. I found some nice high heals at St Vincents for $3. They are a brand name kind, not out of season, and on E-bay they cost between $50 and $80. I was proud of my find.

My last pair of jeans were $3 and the lounge pants I'm wearing I bought brand new for $2 on clearance.

I can't imagine spending more than $25 on real GOOD jeans.

If you can create the " Power" of look, just by your mere existance,clothing becomes more of a hinderance to image.

I manufactured women's clothing for 3 years, and have friends in the business of fashion.

IMHO there's never a reason to spend very much on clothing. buy it because it's made well, hangs well, and looks good.

for $450, there better be someone in those jeans sucking me as I walk down the street.

i cant imagine paying that much. Course i haven't bought more than a shirt or two and a single pair of pants in the last several years, so i dont know how much thing are going for these days.

Dockers : wait for sale for 20-25 dollars
Shirts : $5 generic colored shirts - $30 brand shirt occasionally
Shoes : usually right around $65 or so... but when they last me 5 yrs+, i see it as a good buy.

Hmmm.... cant think of much else i buy regularly, aside from boxers, socks, and whatnot.

Come to think of it, for that same $450 dollars, i think i could dress comfortably for the next couple years or more.

I guess I sound cheap... but if it were up to me I would rather have a lot of money left over and buy the "lower" end stuff that looks just the same than have the "gucci" because I need to have my social status.

If I was rich enough that I could spend $450 on a pair of jeans; I would spend $50 on them (which is a lot to me) and donate $400 to some worthy cause instead of inflating my own ego.

Most I'd spend on items of clothing:

Jeans: $20, and they'd better make my ass look 5 lbs smaller at that price
Shirt: $20, and it'd better make my boobs look a cup size larger at that price
Shorts: $10
Dress: $60, and only because I'm a sucker for vintage stuff, which generally can cost more. $20 is usually the top limit after which I think reeeeeeally hard about whether I really need that piece of cloth.

Anyone who spends $450 on a pair of jeans is either profoundly retarded or profoundly shallow.

when i shop i try to buy classy stuff but use common sense. i don't mind spending a little extra for higher quality clothing, but i always buy it on sale so it rarely breaks the bank. i have a ton of banana republic and men's express clothes that i didn't pay over $30 for any one item because i waited for their bigger sales.

Jeans is bullsh man, cheap material such as demin fabric are worth next to nothing,

Two hoodies, three shirts, two pair of shorts, shoes, and three pair of pants....

most of the time I usually never pay over $50 for one article of clothing. I am a cheapass when I shop.... I look for every bargin I can get and I try to save as much as I can. But $450 for a pair of pants.... glad someone is wasting their money

I still have the same clothes I wore in seventh grade. I get clothes from relatives at Christmas or my birthday. I have not been clothing shopping in AGES. That is just how cheap I am.

450$ for trousers. WHAT A RIP. I could use that for probably five years worth of clothing.

But...let's see...

Trousers- 2$ to 20$.
Shirts- 2$ to 15$.
Panties- 3$ to 8$ a pair (sometimes a bit more).
Shoes- 8$ to 20$ typically.
Sweaters- Stolen from friends or taken from lost and found box.

For a month? Try this - the last 3 weeks I've not spent more than $30 on groceries any one week. The outfit I'm wearing now including tennis shoes cost me $25 and these are my good jeans and good walking shoes.

I actually made 2 maternity dresses for myself when I was pregnant because they jacked up the cost of maternity clothes since you can't fit into anything else and you're forced to buy them. I just made myself I nice little black dress and spent $3.00 on material and 99 cents on the thread. Even if I count the electricity it still doesn't come to more than $5.00 probably. Forget the labels. If you can't accept me without a namebrand label then forget you.

$450 is for the brainless, fops who are slaves to society and trends.

I'm not saying that I don't enjoy following some of the trends in style. I'm just not going to break the bank to do it.

Designer clothes are expensive. I've never boughten any piece of clothing over $50.....yet......

I have no problem splurging on nice clothes, to a certain extent. While I don't mind dropping $120 on a pair of jeans, they had better be comfortable, well made and had better look good on me.
For me to spend $450 on a pair of jeans though, they had better be indestructible and look so good on me that I can't go anywhere without being chased by a pack of sex-crazed women.

You could add up all the clothing purchases I made since the start of last year and they wouldn't equal $450. People who spend that much money on clothing are very shallow.

I just went to the mall yesterday and saw a pair of female sandals costing $650. So there exist people out there that spends more money on the clothing they're wearing then what most people spend to live their life for months.

My general rules are that I try not to pay more than $50 on a single item of general use clothing, but the rules are very flexible. If an item of clothing is something I'm going to wear for quite some time, and is of good fabric and make, I'll pay quite a bit more for it than I will for something "trendy" (I try not to pay more than 20 or 30 bucks for something that will be stale in a year) I'm not in a position to spend a lot on clothes right now, but I usually pay about $30-50 on a pair of jeans. Usually Old Navy or Levi's.

I shop at Ross, a cut-price clothing chain that's primarily in the western states. I can buy last year's designer-brand dress shirt for $15, where I'd maybe have spent $50-$75 for it when it first came out. I went there a couple of weeks ago and got three pair of Levi Docker khakis and an all- silk Hawaiian shirt for under $50. And these are perfectly fine clothes. At regular price, I would have paid over $120 for the Dockers alone. I only pay full retail when I need something specific. Only brainwashed fashion slaves pay $200-plus for a utilitarian piece of clothing.

The exception is shoes. I pay top dollar for quality shoes, because my back does bad things to me if I do otherwise.

If i had it like that, i would spend that much on clothes. But since i am a broke buster, i spend $50 shorts, $50-100 jeans, $30-100 shirts, and $60-150 on shoes.

I had a Throwback Jersey given to me by my drugdealing cousin. I have too many clothes and shoes left from high school days. I have a collection of 30+ top end shoes. About half of them were on sale(thank god). I also have alot of the Air Jordan shoes. since highschool, the most I've ever spent on some jeans were 85 dollar Girbauds and 120 dollar akdemiks. If you see me around the campus during schooltims, I would usually be wearing some Dickies pant or shorts, or possibly some nike basketball shorts.
