Total Taxes be damned. Mr McGuinty ran on a platform that he and his Liberals would NOT raise taxes. I saw all those ads where he stood in front of the people of Ontario, looked us in the eye and lied. "We will not lower taxes nor will we raise them either". Now he plans to repeal the law the Conservatives put in place punishing any government that raises taxes above and beyond what the public can afford. HYPOCRITES AND LIARS.
Ontarians. If ever there was a reason not to vote Liberal in the next Federal election this is it. Vote for Paul Martin and your telling the Feds that they can get away with outright lies and we'll kiss their ass and call it ice cream. So fuckin angry I could scream right now. "I, Dalton McGuinty, leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario, promise, if my party is elected as the next government, that I will not raise taxes or implement new taxes without the explicit consent of Ontario voters, and not run deficits. I promise to abide by the Taxpayer Protection and Balanced Budget Act." - Taxpayer Protection Pledge signed Sept. 11, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We're not going to raise your taxes, but neither will we cut them." - McGuinty after signing the pledge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We're not going to raise taxes. That's just not on the table." - McGuinty, the day of his government's inaugural throne speech, Nov. 20, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I don't want to raise taxes. It is not my intention to raise taxes." - McGuinty, Dec. 18, 2003 Last edited by Cujo; 05-19-2004 at 06:47 AM.. |

Well as a a fellow Ontarian I am not surprised. This is the Liberal Party afterall. They have wasted billions upon billions federally and now will do it provincially, since it was so successful on a large scale.
And when the federal election comes sometime in June, all the people in Ontario and Quebec will yet again vote Liberal because they are collectively scared of change. Oh yeah,.. they will bitch and scream until time comes to put a check on their ballot slip but once in the ballot booth they will yet again become mindless sheep and vote Liberal. I for one took a pledge myself some time ago to do everything in my power to steal, lie and ripoff all levels of government as effectively as they fucking well rip me off. Proof? My property taxes went up 100% in the last 2 years and the services have declined. I have paid in income tax almost half of my net earnings. I won't go on but I'm fucking pissed off. I used to think( stupidly) that doing my share contributing through taxes to the whole and to those less fortunate in society was socially conscious. What a dummy I was. Now I am supporting a new charity,...ME,...and I don't give a fuck who has or doesn't have. Every man for himself or else get stuck with the never ending tax bills that never stop rising. I have to go fill my car up now and pay 97.9 cents a litre. Very nice. And tomorrow I will be paid, as I am everyday, in cash for services rendered.

This enrages me. I think, as an Ontarian, I am going to make up some signs, and start a petition where I will stand at malls, parking lots, anywhere busy, and see how many sigs I can get. Hopefully more people will join me. I think if I make up a sign that says, "Did you know your taxes were just raised $1000.00?". I think that will do all the talking for me. If anyone wants to get in on this, please private message me and we can set something up. As long as you live in Ontario, you're eligible to help.

Mr McGuinty. It is now my personal crusade to see that you never govern again in the province of Ontario. You are a fuckin liar and an asshole besides. Fuck you Craig Sorbara and Sandra Pupatello. Next they'll be asking for a pay raise. Last edited by Cujo; 05-19-2004 at 01:28 PM.. |

Man, working for a company that had unions has made me hate unions forever, they are blood sucking fiends who only exist to cause pain in others.
(hey do lawyers have a union?)

I see nothing new here in regards to the liberal party. The sad thing is Ont will elect Liberals in the upcoming federal election. If only citizens had a longer memory these clowns would not be in office. Do they put something in the water out your way that makes people vote the way they do?

No, it's just that there is no one better. The Americans don't have it any better, either. You can vote right wing or right wing (it's just that one right is slightly less right than the other). In Canada, at least our sucky choices are quite different.
They all suck, though. Ontario doesn't vote Liberal because they're mindless sheep and I fail to see what the provincial government has to do with oil prices. People are just looking for something to complain about. I also don't know how valid it is to associate the actions of the provincial Liberal party to the federal one. Ontario has tried to garner favours from the federal government, since they are the same party, and has failed to do so. There doesn't appear to be much cooperation. Anyway, back to the point. Ontario votes Liberal because there's little else to vote for. The NDP are just a little too left and the Conservative party are way too right. Is anyone here really going to vote for Stephen Harper? |

I've been complaining for years about the pathetic state of our health care system. Doctors are fleeing the country en masse and we're doing nothing to keep them. So I don't mind being taxed a little more as long as you're actually going to improve health care!, but I'll believe that when I see it.
McGuinty's big song and dance about not raising taxes was pure bullshit. My number one rule of politics is : The bigger deal a politician is making about being honest, the sharper his backstabbing knife is. One day I'll run as an independant with the platform that siphoning off public funds will be punishable by public flogging. Personally, I'm hoping for either a Conservative/NDP minority government , or failing that a Liberal/NDP minority government.
I don't trust the Reform party, no more than the West's Reformerites trusted the PC party after Mulrooney. At the same time, I think they need some seasoning in government so they won't continue to be inexperienced oafs.
