I know that the americans do the smiley face with the pineapple ring and marichino cherries, or even mickey mouse pancakes, but these are really intricate. Has anyone else seen anything else so intricately done with food? |
I tried to google an american version and could only come up with these

lol, the hamtaro one rules.

I never want to see hot dogs used as appendages ever again.

OMG!! Doremon!! I love this manga when I was a kid...and still do... |
Cool. What an age we live in. Somewhere out there, an otaku is making Shinji Ikari...from figs...and capers...and lobster.
|
That is so awesome.
I've actually made a Hello Kitty cake for my daughter's 7th bday. |
My mom used to make us mickey mouse pancakes, but damn, this is impressive!
|
The detail is astounding.
|
How do you say "happy meal" in japanese?
I think even my niece would give these a try. Great pics. |
My dad used to make mickey mouse and smiley face pancakes for my sister and me! :)
|
heh... i saw those last night but didn't get around to posting them... super-cool details. I suppose they have a better assortment of smaller food items than we normally consume with which to make intricate little fun meals for their kids. while the kids get these, ours are getting fucking snackables or whatever. just not fair.
|
the thing is, i bet a lot of those are foods that kids don't particularly like. i mean, stuffed cabbage? pickled ginger? shitake mushrooms?

Errr...Kids in Japan would.
I remember we had a Japanese girl stay at our house. She said my dad's corn beef hash looked and tasted like dog food. She didn't say it right then, but thats what she later told my mother. |
Cooool, The last one was the Powerpuff girls I believe.

Ha cool, they even have Thomas The Tank Engine place mats! :D |
Is that a fried thumb next to hamtaro?
|
I dont think that is cake. I think those are just lunch.
|
That's so much cuter than this

The best I can do is my Garfield-shaped muffin tin.

Saw that a couple weeks ago... amazing detail and effort put into those. Here's a rundown of them:
first one: nekochan (kitty) 2nd: doraemon (a cat from a children's anime starting in the late 70s) 3rd: pandagumi (not sure if this is a character or not) 4th: anpanman (famous superhero character made from anpan, bread filled with bean paste... the grinning bug-looking one is baikinman (bacteria man) 5th: keroppi (sanrio character) 6th: Hamtaro (another children's anime character) last one: yes, that's the powerpuff girls. all of these are made out of edible lunch foods. feel free to ask any other questions. |
i love happy food!
|
looks yummy
|
Corned beef hash does taste like dog food... ;)
|
Kero Kero Keroppi!
Yay! I want Keroppi food! Though I don't know if I could eat him. |

"Yo. Eat some damn breakfast, beyotch kids." |
I don't know if I could eat anything that was smiling at me...
Well, not in terms of actual food anyhow. Very cool though. |

Damn. That Hamtaro looked absolutely delicious.
Yet another thing I never thought I'd have an opportunity to say... |
