Your early posts stated Venture County - that's what you got -- there are Orange County campgrounds as well..,

Based on my experience in putting together these events before -- those are the types of places you really want -- Restrooms nearby, parking, relatively quiet, easy to get to.

Just look at what their restructions are for alcohol on the premesis -- some don't allow open bottles and such (there are ways around everything - -but -- it's something to watch for.)

Ok...SORRY...but I will not miss an afternoon game in Anaheim vs the Cubs..BUT...this is what I will do.

For those of you traveling down to Lost Angeles I will put you up in my apartment in West Lost Angeles. I have one extra room with a queen bed and it's own bath (whoopie) and I have a couch and plenty of floor

So for those of you traveling down we can have a mini get together and you all can hate me for not showing up Sunday after you leave town

Those that are short of cash and would like to drive down but can't afford the HUGE FUKIN GAS PRICES..well...I'll donate to the cause up to $150.00 unless I get fired....die...hit by a bus..fucked by a hottie till im an incoherent babbling idiot, or we just have one huge earthquake and we all fall into the ocean

Let HALX know and I'll send him a check and he can determine who gets the funds ...either way I'll pitch in...but I REALLY can't miss an ANGEL GAME....well...I take that back...if there is a hottie that wants me to attend (and I mean GIRLS..no chicks with dicks) I may consider it, but I will warn you ahead of time....The Angels have cost me a couple of girlfriends

Anyoooo....we'll see as the time date gets closer...but my offer of a place and donation stands.

ok, scratch The Original King and KeyserSoze (bastards!) they have other plans.

So it's starting to shape up as a park meeting, but we need more ideas for actual location. If the San Diego and OC guys are willing to drive to Ventura County, I got it covered. Otherwise, we're gonna figure something else out in LA or OC.

Also, if this goes right, then I wouldn't mind having it again a month later.

It's not that I have other plans... I told you I was gonna be in LA in July... you're the one that made the get together in June. (Dork)

But that just means we can another one in July... Kick ass.

My apologies for not putting in my suggestions earlier, I was out of town all last week. I don't necessarily mind driving to Ventura County, even though I would be coming from Riverside. The Getty Center idea is not bad either.

Whatever is decided I will likely be cool with it.

We have a really nice park area on the beach in Corona Del Mar. BBQ's available, firepits along the sand, nice grassy plots with shade trees and play areas, etc.

It's about 10-15 minutes from Irvine, just about smack in the middle between LA and San Diego. People can choose to park up on the street for free, but parking lot parking is ~5 per day. Maybe one truckload of the food and etc. to park, or just an assload of people to carry everything down to the beach. No alcohol allowed down on the beach area or park section.

If I'm rated by then I might even be able to cruise people around Newport Harbor in a 30 ft shields--but no promises on that.

Do we have to have alcohol at a park? Cuz if not the one that was already mentioned sounded awesome! *nod nod*

Dave and Busters might work as a venue. We would have Pool, video games, food, bar and television. A day at Magic Mountain would work nicely... or Disneyland perhaps, .. or Knotts Berry Farm, (New coaster there) would have Movie Land Wax Museum just down the street... w00t.. lol.

I can most likely make it, thx for the invite.

What kind of info would you like, Halx?

Here is an address that will drop you off street-side:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...rch=++Search++

From that street, you can walk down a steep road to the beach or quite a bit of steps. I will try to get some pictures of the access points so people end up at the same place. But that could be difficult since school is winding down.

(June 13th is a few days after classes end. So depending on how many finals I have to grade, I could snap the shots right at the last minute and get them up before people start traveling ).

If you zoom out, you can see Newport Harbor and Balboa Island. Lots of touristy stuff to do there. Also, just up the road is Fashion Island, very nice outdoor mall. And, IIRC, a Dave and Busters is inside for those who want to check that out!

Heh.. that's why it's the SoCal meet up.

I'll be able to take a couple people from Ventura County in my car if you all don't wanna drive. You will, however, be subjected to my driving and my music. Heh.

That's a good hour and a half from here, compensating for traffic... but I have been known to make the trip in 36 minutes exactly.

ok, as far as I know, there should be plenty of room and we don't need to notify anyone.. Bit I'll show up before our scheduled time and set up a some tables and a grill.

As we get closer, I'll go down and take some digital photos and post them in this thread. Combined with the map, people should have some very visual cues to follow to end up in the same place.

So I figure I'll take some shots of the actual meeting area, some from street level (so we know where to walk down), and some from around the general vicinity so people know where to look to park.

How many people does it look like are showing up?

What do we need? Food, beverages, charcoal, activities, etc? We'll probably need to figure that out when people start arriving. I might be able to snap some shots this weekend when my wife and I go down on our day sail, but no promises. Definately before the scheduled date, however. That map I provided gets you smack up to the park--so I just have to guide you from that endpoint to the actual benches we'll be at.

hmm, what am I forgetting? I don't know. Let me know what you think and need. It's a nice beach, with sizeable fire pits if people stay into the evening. Oh yeah, almost forgot. This is on the beach side of the Newport Harbor jetty. It should be impossible to miss. I have no problem going down in the morning and hanging out while people drift in.

We're looking at 10-12 people. Maaaybe more. Gonna bring some non-TFPers to mix it up a little. If you're gonna bring friends or sacrificial virgins, let me know so we can accomodate.

I'm gonna send out PMs to people to remind them what they need to bring. I'll put down some money for some steak and chicken. We need others to pledge more items, though.

Let's pile it all up in this thread.

Thanks for your help, smooth!

I will be there. Please feel free to PM me with what I should contribute to the efforts - food, drinks, etc. Curious but if we are on the beach for the get together, will there be drinking? Many beaches don't allow this.

If smooth posts specifics about where and when, it sure will help. I have never been in that area.

The beach doesn't allow drinking, but no one can control what others do with their own opaque cups .
