A falling out with the TFP?
I was just wondering, and after a couple of searches I came up with no related threads, so I thought I'd ask: anyone else ever quit the TFP for quite a while?
And if so, why the return? Because obviously you did return or you would not be reading this. I left the TFP because I just got a lot of shit going on in my life, new girlfriend, all kinds of stuff. I never had time for it anymore and eventually I just gave up. But recently I decided to try it again. And now here I find myself, making time to check out the forums every single night. I'm completely hooked again. Surely I'm not the only one. Share your stories. Why have you left? And what keeps pulling you back? |
The most I left was for about a month. Because it was summer time and I was to busy playing tennis, going swimming, kickin' with friends, its the time when I'm outside a lot, probably the only time of the year. But all that's changed...until summer again...
Glad you're with us again btw...:) |
TFP is like any other place people gather.
They come and go and sometimes come again. (Sounds kinda like sex, eh?) |
Since I first joined a long time ago i have visited the TFP almost every day for varying amounts of time, and now that i'm a moderator I check even more often.
There was about a week earlier this year that I had to cut back my TFPin because of a huge workload. And I wasn't around the computer much during spring break... but other than that, i've been around almost once a day. |
What I first started I got interested in the philosophy section. I got stonewalled in some discussions there where no one would actually address my statements but beat around the bush. I got disgusted and left for a while. Maybe a month. Hubby was still here all the while so I still heard about stuff that was discussed and eventually came back. I rarely go to philosophy though since some of the discussions there aren't really OPEN discussions. I just enjoy the rest of TFP.

Not that I have left, just my friend has a loan of my pc while she is doing a course, and I have moved house and not connected a phone yet. So I just get to drop in every now and then till I get sorted

Life happens.
Same answer applies to why your car is broken down and you haven't had it fixed, or why you have a week's worth of laundry that you haven't put away, or you haven't been to the gym in a month. *shrug* |
I come and go, I'll have a few weeks where i'll come home and post seven or eight posts and then i'll go off for a while (a month or so).
When I read this I thought of being angry and leaving, which I've never done but has anyone ever done that? |
I left for over a year about.
Now im back. The reason I left is cause I graduated College and had to get right to work. I simply had no time.:(
|
No time, too busy w/ school, work life, etc =)
|
Next week i leave college and go back home.
With job, family/friends, and dial-up internet...I dont plan on being around as much as i do now. |
Hey, I stayed away five whole days....(had a triple bypass).
Got the shakes so bad I almost spilled my scotch.... why come back---because of people like you...:D |
TFP is my homepage, so i am always clicking "view new posts" however, I love the people, the discussions, etc. Its a great place, i hope its around forever.

I realized I hadn't actually posted in almost a year. My computer and I had a divorce, it took my wife with it... I thought about it, a fair bit, but I just havent had access until now. I feel like I never left
|
I pop in a bunch, but I guess I've just run out of things to say.

Fortunately I retained custody of the computer. Had to give up my son, but...priorities. :D
|
I left for a while... I figured I would as a lot of my favorite posters did as well. But I'm still in contact with all of them and I missed a lot of elements of this place. So yeah, I'm back.
|
I never really leave for more than three days or so.. I used to have an account that was started in June 2003, and I TFP'ed my heart out through the summer. I lost both the login and password to it in late July, and didn't come back till this February. I don't know why I didn't; I had every reason to return.
|
I come back to laugh,.. then laugh again.
|
In the previous version of TF, I had an account under another name. I got pissed off for a lot of reasons -- this was in the time just before the Iraq war, and opinions were pretty raw -- didn't always respond to the various arguments as well as I should have, and left under my own power to cool down. Came back a few months later to check things out and found that politics is now off in its own group, thank you, where I don't have to notice it anymore. Life is much more serene now.
Anyway, new start, new name. It's worked out. |
the ISP my parents have at home (i'm a college student) block TFP for nudity. so... while i'm there my posts are infrequent. on top of that, i went to field training for 6 weeks last year... so i've had a couple big lapses in posts.
day-to-day... i'll go a week posting and reading religiously, then i'll go a few days w/out even logging on. i've grown to love this place though. |
