I love my parents
I just wanted to say that i love my mom and dad.
they are by far one of the greatest individuals that have graced this earth. my siblings and i would all be more than content to achieve just a fraction of what they have done, and done so with out ever loosing their grace, and when my time comes to be a parent i only hope i will be a faction of the parents they are. Here wishing you all have guardians who mere though of them makes you feel safe in the world no matter how bad things seem. |

I feel the same way about my parents. They may not be the closest of parents, but they are always there for me. If I want a conversation, I go to my dad. If I want financial advice, I go to my mom. While they give me support, they also show me trust. They have cosigned for me on loans. They let me live exactly how I want to live, even as I am still under their roof.

Yep. I had a really great conversation a few years ago where I sat my folks down and had them really GET that they got the job done with me, and thanked them for my life and everything I've got. I wouldn't let them get up until I could tell they completely got my gratitude and love.
It was whatcha call a "three-hanky conversation". |

My dad and his girl friend call me one of their best friends. I love that!
My mom and I spend hours talking. Neither parent are perfect -- but both love me unconditionally. Who could ask for anything more? Tokaok, I'm sure you make your parents proud -- they are fortunate to have you in their lives. My prayer -- that my kids feel that way about me someday.

I have great parents, too. My friends tease me about my brady bunch-like childhood of family dinners and boardgames, but I wouldn't change it for anything. And my parents are still there for me today and still together after all these years.
I feel sorry for my friends who had shitty upbringings and it always makes me tell my parents how much I appreciate them.

What a great thread!!! In a world were there is so much negative its good to see the positive shine through every once in awhile.
I remember when I was 18 and knew everything and am now 33 and realize that a learning curve is what this little thing called life is all about -- and my parents were wise enough to let me learn this myself.

awesome.
I love my folks too. Happily married for almost 40 years, and they are the kindest, most generous, and fun-loving people. They have helped us out in so many ways- financially, emotionally, etc. They do whatever they can to help us. They aren't afraid to express their love and respect for us. And they are the best grandparents anyone could ask for. |

I am a mamma's boy. Yup, definitely love my mommy. Love my dad equally. They have always been there for me, even when I was little shit! Now I am a big shit but they love me all the same.
Tokaok, great thread. I concur that if I could just live a fraction of my life they way they lived theirs, and have just a fraction of the happiness that they both share together, then I will die a very happy man.

my dad raised me by himself. he was never very emotional towards me, and thus, i'm not towards him. but we still love and care about each other a great deal, it's just hard for us to express that. we've never told each other we love each other or anything like that.. it's just weird. i'd like to try to express my feelings more for not just him, but my whole family. it's just really strange to think about how to do it. anyone else in my situation here? any advice? (i'm not trying to thread-jack or anything)

I love my mom dearly. She's been a great inspiration and a wonderful role model to myself and my brother and sister.
My dad, he's too dead to love.

My parents are truly great. They are always there when you need to talk and sadly always right. And boy do they love to rub it in my face too! haha. My parents support me through school which in itself means soo much to me than I will never be able to fully repay them. But I sure as hell am going to try.
