The Immaculate Friday
This story begins on Wednesday. Matt (my boss) came to me and asked if I'd like to let Ginger (a model) wash my car for a photoshoot. A hot, half-naked model washing my car? Sounds like bragging rights if I ever saw them! Sure! So, she got to washing my car for the camera... I was hovering around, taking more pictures with our second camera... it was all going great. After she finished shooting the pictures and video, we had to sorta finish up the car. That's when we noticed something was wrong. It was as if the soap we used was bad. There was a stick residue all over the car. On top of that, Ginger was covered in baby oil for the shoot, so when she leaned against the car, it rubbed onto the car. That was impossible to get off with what we had availible.
Matt came to me and explained that he was going to get his car detailed soon anyways, so he'll pay for mine to get detailed as well. Wow... how cool of him! I felt sorta sorry, though, because I was planning on trading my car in the next week to get my new Acura TL. So, Thursday comes around and I get a call. It's the Acura dealership... my car has arrived ahead of schedule and it's ready for me to pick it up. I want to tell them I'll be in right away, but I know I need to regroup and organize my finances - I thought I had a week to do this. So, I try to call my mom and ask her if she can come home early on Friday to take myself and Mikie to the dealership. I then called Mikie (my sister) and told her that I wanted to pick up the car at 4pm on Friday. You see, I had promised Mikie the first drive home in my car because she had helped me learn to drive stick. I never did get ahold of my mom, so I called the Acura dealership back, blindly scheduling to pick my car up at 4 on Friday. It occurred to me that if I was going to trade in my car, I didn't need my mom to drive us to the dealership. So, it was set. Friday was going to be the day. I was going to trade in my sweet Nadia for a loss, and buy a 35 thousand dollar sports sedan. I'm ready. That day, the detailer came and worked on Matt's and my car. It was just as well, because the sticky residue on my car resulted in a rather thick caking of dirt all ready. He made Nadia look like brand new... so beautiful. And I was going to give this car up tomorrow! Well, I hoped that the condition of the car would give me some sway when I argued the trade-in price for it. I got a call later on Thursday.. it was my mom. It turns out that she was going to stay home on Friday anyways - this worked out great, so now I could have her along for the negotiations. __________________________ The Immaculate Friday begins with a phone call at 9am. "I was wondering if your car was still for sale." What? A guy was interested in my car NOW, after months of trying to sell it to nobody? I answered him swiftly and honestly. The car was gonna be GONE by 4pm and I listed all of the car's problems. He was coming from Riverside to take a look. I told him again... this is IT. Subsequent phonecalls throughout the day revealed that this guy had to drive all the way down to San Diego to pick up a check for the car. He was really going the extra mile to get to my car. Things were looking up. 3:30pm comes and this guy, Mario, arrives with his friend to look at the car. I show it to him... tucked away in the garage... looking as new as the day I bought it, but as awesomely beautiful as the day I finished customizing. He was real impressed, so I took him out to test drive. He was impressed by the get-up of the engine and was familiar with the rough ride of a lowered car. He was going to buy it. Wow. We negotiated a price that was well above what the dealership had quoted me for the trade-in. Mikie, my mom and I caravanned down to the bank with Mario to cash the check. As if the day was not going well enough, we were greeted by a bank employee who lead us to her desk right away, as if she sensed that we needed help. I'm serious here. It turns out this check was a bank draft for a loan. It wasn't as good as cash.. not entirely. We sat there for a while, asking advice and verifying information while the bank lady made calls to Mario's credit union to verify the draft. My mom was coordinating this all. Honestly, if not for her experience, this would not have gone the way it did. While we were waiting, I learned that Mikie had all ready told Mario what I did for a living. Heh. So, I told Mario about the photoshoot and gave him the URL to find pictures of his new car being washed by a hot chick in a bikini. Incentive! It turns out the the funds for the check, once deposited, would not be made availible until Wednesday. We needed the funds availible NOW. After more calls to verify the validity of this check, the bank lady was convinced that this was a solid transaction - the bank draft was from the ARMED FORCES credit union and she just so happened to have experience with the integrity of that establishment. She OKed the access of the funds. We were set. We had a sale. We shook hands. I thanked my mom profusely for her experience in this matter. If not for her, this never would have happened. Mario had his new car now. We were off to the Acura dealership with $2000 more than I had expected. Well, the dealership experience was typical, but rather painless. I changed some terms on the contract, the price was set and we payed it. I now own a 2004 Acura TL. Mikie drove it home. OH MAN, DOES IT ROCK! Now, think about the coincidences that occurred to make Friday possible. I told it to my cousin and she replied, "Then it means that it was meant to be." Well, I'd prefer not to put such a spiritual spin on the issue, but you gotta admit... something was afoot.

Enjoy the car. That's what I was hoping to get in 5 years, before I started this house search. It's a great car! |

Most people would say because of the law of averages even the sun shines on a dog's ass once in a while. I, however, prefer to subscribe to the theory that good things happen to good people.
Congrats on your new car and the fortuitous circumstances surrounding it. Your karma is indeed "HOT!"

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! BTW, I thought you hated your sister? She taught you stick? Maybe that is the older one . . . unless you grew out of it / she grew out of it I was pretty sure you did not have a favorable view of you little sister.
