I've eaten Texas BBQ, been to the Alamo, amused pissed-off travelers at the George Bush Airport with What-do-you-expect-from-an-airport-named-after -George-Bush jokes, walked the River Walk, strolled the downtown Dallas thingee, and had my penis bitten by a stripper in Kilgore. I've visited Texas. DOG DOG DOG DOG! Nyeeh Nyeeh! *Clavus sticks his tongue out and makes crotch grabbing motions* |
haha... I've done all those but the penis bite... no wonder you hate the state lol

Uh where did you get this statistic at? We don't get alot of power from Canada when we need it, we get it from neighboring states.
|
you guys get power from bc... im not good at finding stuff but ill look.. maybe someone else from bc here can find it if i dont but in the mean while i will drink ... look.. and then sleep
|
There is no way we (California) get half our power from BC.
|

There you go. The only thing we get from Canada on a large scale is natural gas and that is 27.6%. |
http://www.bcstats.gov.bc.ca/../pubs/exp/exp0105.pdf
this is one but that appears to be 2001.. powerex.. is a california energy trader or something which is a subsidary of BC Hydro which is BC im too tired to hunt around anymore im sure someone else on this board from bc has more knowledge on this |
oh yea im sure nothing else comes from canada... maybe you mean no other energy..
|
Well since we were talking about energy I thought you could find that out with out me having to spell it out for you.
Your infomation states that in 2000, 46% of BC exports on power were to California. However, it does not state how much of BC power makes up the total power used by California. Just because BC shipped 46% of its exported power to CA, doesn't mean that the power accounted for 46% of Californias total power needs. |
Just a few random notes about Texas waterways. Texas has "Woman Hollering Creek" a poor translation from the Spanish name (but it's not like Texans should know basic Spanish). The Rio Grande is not as grande because of excess damming by Mexico. The Frio River is frio.
|
Don't you guys have the largest border with Mexico? Have fun with the immigration w/o Federal Funding... You'll be begging to come back in a couple of years.

I heard a comedian say this about Texas:
Dont' ask them to measure something because they do eveything in shitloads. "Careful with that toolbox it weighs a shitload!"* *More funny in a Texan Accent. |

Cool stats all around. Texas should leave the states in my opinion. It would be exciting. You could try and be like Quebec, except actually do it.

"I wuz fixing ta say thattsa Buttload of dukey, pard." (The biggest of all 3 Texas measurements & size of Texas egos.) Don't forget Dallas; Home of Dr. Pepper, Stevie Ray Vaughn and the "Original" Ninfarita. Dangerous territory there! (You're fitting in just as we thought you would...) :) |

No it's not.
My "state" is the Republic of Ireland, and that beats the hell out of Texas! Oh, and whilst living in Australia, my current state is New South Wales, which I also believe is better than Texas. I'm moving soon to Perth in Western Australia tough, so that's quite like Texas insofar as it's mostly desert. :) Mr Mephisto |

Defense Industry (we have over 65% of it). The term "Don't mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning. These people are forced to live here. |
----and another little known fact about TEXAS---
we use less ground to bury our people.... we just give them an enema and bury them in a shoe box...:D |
Don't forget, Texas keeps the Southern Coast of Oklahoma from eroding into the Gulf.
Or as we like to call it, Baja Oklahoma. |
You can have texas i'll keep PA, you know the state where all the history is :D
|
You can have your flat little state.:D
Me, I like the rocky mountains. Plus, have fun without NORAD.:p |
I would like for GW to be the president of California also. We need it bad in this state. Could we be the Republic of Texicali?

By the way, California (35.5 million) was the nation’s most populous state in 2003, followed by Texas (22.1 million). If we had a big brawl say, in New Mexico, in which every resident of California and Texas were involved we have 13.4 million more people than you. By the way, no guns in the brawl, because Texas probably has more guns than us :p |
