That thing does look big. I imagine it would definately make me jump if I saw it dashing across the sand toward me.
Had a wolf spider come in out place a couple years ago. That alone gave me the creeps. Until I decided to learn more about the then deceased (thanks to a well placed stomp) spider. Then I'm not so creeped out. I will avoid any poisonous ones but most of them don't creep me out to much. Education is the best weapon against fear. My daughter (almost 4 yrs) thinks spiders are cool - her reasoning - they eat mosquitos. |

I found a Black widow in my car once
I then sold the car, never riding in it again. |
Fuck that! I am never leaving my room again!
|
ahh! I'm going to check my bed 4 times for spiders before I go to bed! And I'm 15,000 miles away from those things!
|
We only have Brown Recluse spiders up here. Nothing more poisonous than that and nothing bigger than a wolf spider I believe. I'll take the cold over spiders and roaches any day.

Big ugly. even the 10 miles an hour that they do run at is still really freaking fast. If i woke up on morning with one of those things on my chest i'ld freak the heall out and shoot the thing until all that was left was a stain on the side of my tent. then i'ld burn the tent

Insects bug me.
I'm glad that I live in a cold enough area that I don't have to worry about them for 9 months of the year. |
Black Widow's are so beautiful. I love the shiny black carapace and how the legs go into a sharp point. Oh, and gotta mention that tell-tale ominous red hourglass.
These spiders look demonic, though: http://www.rochedalss.qld.edu.au/spider/purseweb.htm (worksafe link) I may like them but if one jumps on me I still freak out and get the jeebies. |
