Who is your Hero?
I have found that much can be gleened about an individual, just from an honest answer to this simple question.
Mine: Carl Sagan Brought science and understanding to a great many people, by simplifying terminology, and creating "Cosmos". |
My father.
Simple and corny. If I turn out to be half the man he was, I'll be happy. Mr Mephisto PS - After that, I guess I could name Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill. Not really heroes but men of whom I'm in awe. Without either of them the world would be a very different place indeed. |
Bruce Campbell

BTW wasn't there already a few threads about who your hero is already? This must of been the 5th time I've posted this pic for this topic  |

I'm not one to have heroes but I do appreciate this man.
http://www.upliftdarace2.homestead.c...m_Olajuwon.JPG Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon I owe him a big hug. I'm not sure he wants to collect on it. |
My grandfather. He is/was the greatest man I ever knew. I can't believe he's already been gone for almost 6 years. No one disliked him, because he loved everyone, and did what he could to help anyone he could. The people who are close to me know how much I love that man. I've written some about him in my journal.

A man named Mike Warner.
Died of Lung Cancer at the age of 27 on October 2, 2001 Never gave up hope. Had his last cigarette no less then 8 hours before he passed away. The nicest guy you have ever met Double Tough... Super Cool. |
My auntie Susan, on my dad's side... She's one tough lady, been through a lot and i admire her and love her dearly for it.
|
My dad.
A total exception to the rule--not more than a generation away from poor white trash, not college educated, rose to the top of his field in a record amount of time. Married and is still in love with his high school sweetheart. Smart as hell. A cop with a sense of humour. My mom is also my hero...she's a very smart lady. |
me, i guess.
i never fail to impress myself, esp when the pressures on. |
bundy's my hero too. He never fails to impress.
|
pierre trudeau, great leader and a smart ass to boot.

Dustin Sekula
from our home town, here in the valley. He wrote an essay of why he wanted to be a Marine...at the age of 17... he ended it by saying --- "When you die you take no worldly possesions with you, just your mind and soul. The choice I make I won't regret! The choice I almost didn't make I would have regretted forever" He was buried with full military honors Friday, April 9, 2004. |

Bruce Campbell is my hero as well. That's not saying much, since I say the phrase "........is my hero" about 9 times a day. For instance: The other day I saw a guy hauling ass (running his ass off, book bag flopping every where) to try to catch the bus on campus. "Man that guy is my hero." But Bruce Campbell does indeed kick ass. |
The men that plug along life in complete anonymity while trying to feed the five kids, the wife and not eat the cow.
So many more people live that life. I guess my "why do I have to pay $1.80 for a gallon of gas" does not add up to much |
my wife, for all the shit I have put her thru, giving me a wonderful baby, and being my best friend.....
|
I have a few:
My Mom and Dad. Still married after all these years. Happy, retired, living a very healthy, loving, and full life with each other. Dick Deucher. Died at the early age of 54 from terminal cancer. He followed my running career for years before I ever met him. He knew my folks. Back in High School, I heard he had a bad lapse in his condition so I finally called him. We chatted for a bit but he was elated to finally be talking to me. I told him I had the final race of the season coming up and will be running with him in my thoughts. He actually showed up to that race, with Hospice Care, wheelchair, Van and driver all there with him. I was about to run my race so once I saw him, I ran up and said hello and that I was dedicating the race to him. I ended up winning that race. Dick died two weeks later. |
very corny,
the nameless men and women who died in the cause of freedom |
My dad. Smartest man I know personally
My mom. Nicest woman. Morrie Swartchz, a great man...I'll be the luckiest person alive if I can have a little bit of all 3 people. |
Teddy Roosevelt and Martin Luther.
|
my grandfather
|
In reality Socrates. He saw a way to enrich peoples lives without enforceing his beliefs on them. As a result he was martyred. He had the choice to be bannished but he took the death penalty because he believed in what he was doing. Some on with that amount of conviction in his altruistic tendancies deserves my hero worship.
There are heaps of fictional characters who I worship as heros: Samwise Gamgee, Drizzt Do'urden, Wolverine, Rocky, etc. All these characters have something in common. They over come all obsticals with the strength of their heart. Heart conquers all. That inspires me to keep going when all the shit of the world is against me. |

I have no "hero" however I do have many people that I admire. Far too many to list here and none that are above the other.
If I were to name one person who I think has had the biggest impact on my life, I would have to say my son. He gave me the will to be the best I could be and the drive to overcome any obstacle that stood in my way. Today he is everything I ever wanted him to be in a human being and more. He makes me proud. Yeah, yeah, I know...pretty gushy. But true! ;) |
My grandfather, he has gone through so much, but never ever complains, and he always is happy. He is friends with everyone he knows, and is a great husband, father, and grandfather I wish I could be more like him.
|
My hero is Tervor Linden of the vancouver canucks
I've cheered for him since i started watching hockey, he does so much to give back to his community, he's just a stand up guy.... I <3 Trevor |
